She knew of the battles that Kevin and I had on the air, and felt it appropriate to inform me that Kevin had passed away some time back. Using question #1, If the repeater input is off, and we bring up an amateur related news bulletin (such as NewsLine, or This week in amateur radio) via the autopatch in the controller, which is then transmitting through the repeater, would this be interferring with simplex operations which are ongoing on the output frequency of the coordinated system? (i.e. 147.435mhz).. It seems to me, that the best way to calm some of these people down is to give them a good old fashioned dose of what amateur radio is all about... If it were up to me, I would make them listen to Hap Holly until their ears bleed. 3.) If problems users have "locked down their microphone" and are doing nothing but babbling, or holding the repeater hostage, or even worse, talking to Richard Burton and we key up on a control input which has priority in the controller and turns off the primary input for the duration of the transmission, would this be considered as interferrence to the person on the primary input? Certain users have complained when we use the control input to warn them of their operations claiming "You are jamming me" which is simply not the case. My thinking is that since the controller is doing the controlling, our input as control operators simply has a higher priority. Others complain "When you use that input, it isn't a coordinated machine", which I also find rediculous. I can hit the repeater with a 2 watt handheld sitting on my bed, NO PROBLEM! Repeaters, traditionally, were intended to extend the range of mobile and handheld stations, explicitly! But because radio hogs the repeater is being used as a device to control other hams thinking. What's interesting here is the fact that they inlisted the help of a corrupt FCC offical. Take note of some of his decisions on various issues though out the nation. Notice how some are forgiven and others have to suffer his wrath. I've known of Hollingsworth for more than twenty years and while in the begining he played minor rolls now he's some sort of a powerful offical(in his mind) with an ax to grind. And where better to do it than with 435 repeater. Working in concert with the mind benders on 435 he has succeeded in de-stabilizing the userbase into thinking that they have done something wrong. The threat of FCC repercussion on users is amplified by the 435 control ops. Don't fall for this crap! You're all adults use your own discretion! |
