I'm in CAP (Civil Air Patrol), auxilliary of the USAF, with my squadron located overseas on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. I was wondering if your squadron participates in the IACE Programme? If so, I hope to take the trip 'round your way. It'd be great to see how the Kiwi's do things. I've always had an interest in experiencing different atmospheres besides America. I've also wondered how your ranks are equivalent to ours, just out of curiosity. T'would be interesting to compare aspects of our squadron and CAP and/or USAF with your's and the ATC. A lot of your activities seem to be quite similar to CAP's. |

When I first went to 9Sqn the operations were named after something and cadets had to guess what that means, Operation Archinair(sp) for example - you tell me where that comes from. Not to downplay the fact that 9Sqn enjoyes a lot of outdoor activities. Cadets should not take the experience of outdoor education for granted.
Also if PLTOFF/FLGOFF(?) Frericks would be able to give me any information regarding the combigned cadet forces site that I heard he was working on would be greatly appreciated. 9, 10, and 32 Sqn's are soo close and should enjoy a lot more joint activity, if any NCO's from 9Sqn would like to help plan a joint ex, make contact with me (marcus_m_@hotmail.com) and we can work something out. Remember that together we have a large range of options available to us and a lot more equipment. Also hats off to SQNLDR Quirk, FLTLT Cleveland, FLGOFF Frericks, Miss Smith, Mr Campbell, and all the NCOs (and cadets - extremely unlikely) who know who I am. heard my recruiting bought in a few more basics than recent years and although this is blowin the horn i'd like to attribute this mostly to the efforts of PLTOFF Frericks (and a little to myself - 2 sessions handled with me IC... see it didnt turn out that bad!) i am loving the new - modern stylings of the site.. i've been building a 10sqn one and it is running along the same vein as this so i'll make a couple o' adjustments. for those who care, i am enjoying school in palmy (the all boys aspect is still annoying but it is cool living right there with ya mates - and no monkey business at all goes on F/S Perry!) i've been getting fitter but still no physical change other then the distance i can run/hike etc... the grades are good and if all goes well i'll take a stab at the RNZAF come the end of the year. anyways i've got to go - but remember i will turn up one wednesday night and expect to see zillions of basics so no-one scare them off... i hear Kennedy has developed a real skill for disclipline. | Comments: | I know it might seem silly to sign a guestbook which is more than 10,000 miles away but I'm interested in what other squadrons do around the globe. I found this great site while looking at another squadron website in the UK. I have noticed that the Austrailian ATC is very similar. About the only difference I have found is the fact that youre flights are numbered. Ours are lettered. Please e-mail me as I am still curious!
