Comments: So hey there, I lived in Pittsburgh for ten years, and played in an original band called ESP. I'm coming back for a weekend, and was wondering where would be a good place to play a few acoustic songs on a Friday night?? Most of the places I played were electric, and they're closed anyway!

Thanks,

Bryan / Z

Name: Carolyn
Email Address: carolynhpm@yahoo.com

Comments: I am a singer-songwriter in Pittsburgh, PA looking for a partner to collaborate with. I write my lyrics but need someone to compose the music. Major influences are pop, folk, country, and some rock in the songwriting field. Singing comes down to mostly pop. I would also love to go out and perform publicly in front of audiences. Additionally, I will record a demo with two/three of the songs to pitch it to music attorneys and personal managers in NYC and LA. The ultimate short-term goal is a recording and publishing deal.

Our relationship will be artistic but also of business. I will not share my lyrics immediately. I like to get to know my potential collaborator, discuss artistic and overall career goals, and agree on business specifics such as points, directions, translations, demo costs, etc. Only then will we start working.

If you are serious, committed, dedicated, and passionate about writing songs, please e-mail carolynhpm@yahoo.com

Comments: Female Singer Wanted

Songwriter searching for female vocalist for acoustic duo. Music is very much on the acoustic pop tinge. Influences are aplenty. Looking for dedicated female vocalist to practice at least once a week and play out as much as possible. Commitment and energy are tops on my list. All ages but 21+ is preferred. Pittsburgh vicinity is a must. Send me an email at skamansteve@rocketmail.com and we can definitely discuss.

Name: Brian Snyder
Email Address: bsbmusic2004@yahoo.com

Comments: I am looking for accomplished musicians for a mostly acoustic band. I have about 25 originals recorded but did the instrumentation myself, so that doesn't work live - I am looking for support for those songs, but also definite collaboration. The music won 2nd at Club Cafe's singer/songwriter challenge in June 2004 and at the Magoos acoustic challenge semi-finals round 3 in August 2004, and a new round of 'Hippie Hiatus' demos are out and I am starting to book for this fall. I am looking for a kick-ass drummer who can lead a variety of styles, an acoustic or electric bassist, and a second guitarist who can play lead and rythm (ideally a fellow solo acoustic act looking to expand); but also I am willing to try other sounds as well if you are interested but play a different instrument. Decent vocals also a must. Please send me an email if interested!

Comments: Hey there - my name is rob of the travelling acoustic act ilyAIMY. We'll be passing through Pittsburgh from June 5th to June 11th - playing a couple of shows (wandering the streets at the Penn Ave Street Festival on Sat the 5th, and playing the Quiet Storm Coffeehouse on Friday the 11th) and a bunch of open mics. We're frequently compared to an acoustic Tool, or Jethro Tull without the flute, Rusted Root and Ani Difranco combined - all sorts of craziness.

Anywho - the place we were going to crash has fallen through - if anyone can have a couple of travelling musicians crash on their floor... drop me a line. Or just come out and take a listen. I feel strongly that we are well worth it. (and house-trained too)

Comments: I am looking for bands for a July 3-4 festival in Chambersburg, PA. This is primarily a jam bands festival, so I am looking for high energy rock, blues, funk, bluegrass, or any combination of the before mentioned. I am also interested in a few singer/songwriters for a smaller stage. A sample of bands with preliminary agreements to play include Hypnotic Clambake, Juggling Suns, Quagmire Swim Team, and more. If interested, please e-mail me with the minimum demands you would have for compensation. I am on a tight budget, so I will first consider those who will play for beer, food, gas, etc.

Comments: Hey all! Just want to let folks know of a new open mic that is trying to get a foothold in the north Houston area. It is Wednesday nights at Westfields By The Railroad, 2119 W. Hardy (just south of 1960 on Hardy street - that's the one that runs along the Hardy toll road). The regular performers and the host have a good friendly attitude (so far no prima donnas have showed up) and a fun time can be had by all. We really need musicians, though!!! There were only 2 of us there last week, and while that makes for a cool long set, we'd rather have some other folks to listen to. :o)

So come on out! Yes, Westfields had a fire in their main bar, but they've moved the bar to a building out behind the old place and it really is a nice venue. Hope to see some folks out there this week.

Comments: If you’re an Eric Johnson fan, I would definitely recommend checking out his new album, Souvenir. It has a bunch of unreleased and obscure tracks that Eric took from a number of sources – in my opinion, it really provides a new and welcome perspective on Eric’s writing and playing...very cool!! One catch though: It’s only available on the Internet, so you have to visit http://www.ericjohnson.com for more info (I promise it’s worth the effort).

Comments: Dear Pittsburgh Artists,

We have a vision of a place where all types of art are celebrated. I guess you could say that it is more than a vision. It is happening here at the Quiet Storm Coffeehouse, a BYO music and art venue and vegetarian
restaurant.

I am writing you today because we want to keep this place, just that, more than a vision. I will get right to the point. We at the Quiet Storm are planning a benefit for June1st, 2002. We are asking for donations from Pittsburgh artists to place in our silent auction. Each artist can decide if their piece is to be donated entirely to the benefit or the Quiet Storm can take the first fifty dollars from the final purchase price and the remainder can go to the artist. You must decide this at the time you drop off the piece at the Quiet Storm.

From noon to close we will be having live music and open doors. So, not only do we need artists to donate pieces, but we will also be having live Pittsburgh musicians performing all day. Bands like: Chesterfield Street Orchestra, Fuzzy Comets, Cheryl Ann Hawk, Kevin Finn, Louie and the Humans, and many other performances throughout the day. The auction will start at 5pm on May 31st and go until 10pm on June 1st. This will be a day to show Pittsburgh what we’re all about and if we’re lucky, what you’re all about also.

If you would be interested in seeing the Quiet Storm remain a stomping ground and stepping stone for local Pittsburgh artists, drop off a piece for our auction by May 26th or give us a call at (412) 661-9355. We’re located at
5430 Penn Avenue which is between Negley and Aiken on Penn in Friendship/Garfield in the East End.

Thank you for your time and your support. We hope to see you and celebrate together on June 1st.
