I am a guitarist who's influences include: Jeff Beck, Bill Nelson, Rory Gallagher, Steve Morse, Andy Summers, Andrew York, Ralph Towner, and John Williams. I also, include St. Louis guitarists, Joseph Marshall (A Full Moon Consort), Max Baker (Mama's Pride), Rockin Robin, Jim Stonebraker (Telemusik) and Classical guitarists Michael Luchtefeld and Robert Sims. I'm now quite comfortable in my new hometown, while retaining what's important from my birthplace. I hope to begin (finally) meeting all of you musicians in da 'Burgh and make wonderful music....with an edge of course! ;)

Comments: I'd love to come play in Pittsburgh (I live in Ithaca, have cousins in your city, and friends tell me the Pittsburgh acoustic community is a great one+).

Check out some of my songs at www.cdbaby.com/all/wfudeman.

In "the Ninevites" Jonah expresses the joy of hating the people who are 'worse than me'. Along with "Green Tree" with its infectious chorus, it's among my most popular songs, and my cover of Jack Hardy's "Only One Sky" (title of my most recent cd) has been used as a theme song for a TV show about environmental issues. My parody "Imagine you've got Healthcare" hits home with most audiences.

I could go on w/ self promotion. I'm happy to play to benefit progressive causes- have played lots of benefits in upstate NY and northern California and Masschusetts.

Be in touch.

all good things,

Will

Comments: I had the honor of attending last night's opening for the revival of AcoustiCafe. In my humble opinion, the evening solidified the fact that Pittsburgh audiences hunger for quality singer/songwriter events. On behalf of Joel Lindsey, one of the hosts, and myself, we wish to send a big thanks out to everyone involved: the musicians who put out their hearts and souls; the audiences who welcomed and embraced them; the talented sound engineer and hospitable staff of Club Cafe; the other incredible hosts, Paul and Heather; and, of course, Mark and Maree. Here's to the start of an exciting 2008 and the return of AcoustiCafe!

What I mean by this is I want to have a section that sells Local Music from all over the country, and have it sectioned into states....so unknown musicians from allover can get heard. I want to start by getting Pittsburgh Artists involved.....so if anyone is interested or has questions....email me at contact@517521.com

please pass this along to anyone you know that may be interested....

Comments: Hi. I wanted to announce an upcoming Songwriters Circle
this weekend. Sat Oct 23 at Garfield Artworks, 4931 Penn
Avenue, it's Clare Burson from Nashville, TN (some compare
her to Gillian Welch or Lucinda Williams) with local acoustic artists Brad Yoder, Anita Fix, and Joey Murphy.
8 pm. $6 admission. All ages show.

I suggest that in addition to the Quiet Storm, which is also a great place for an acoustic concert, you should
pay attention to the other venues in the Penn Avenue Corridor, specifically Garfield Artworks (4931 Penn) and
Modern Formations (4919 Penn). Unbeknownst to you or not,
they have held dozens of acoustic/songwriter music events
in the past couple years, and since I know that part of
Acousticafe's agenda is to advocate for venues that are
non-bar-based and non-smoking, these spaces fit the bill!
Thanks. -mt

Comments: I partake mostly from the 4 major folk/rock/country/blues singer/songwriter food groups - Cash, Dylan, Springsteen and Earle. I also enjoy trite metaphors.

I like anything, any genre, that somebody writes and performs, from the Indigo Girls and Shawn Colvin to the Pixies and Morrissey, to Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder, to U2 and REM... basically I like anything that's good, which is shocking considering I am quite arrogant about what I like and don't like.

Been playing guitar and singing for way too long to not be in a band. I have a 12 string acoustic and a Mexican Stratocaster waiting to be worn in. I'm not Kirk Hammett, but I can play rhythm pretty darn well. I am interested in good songwriting, and all styles of music - just anything that is genuine and not about 8 million lazers and lights. Entertainment is a roll of tokens at an adult bookstore. Music is expression.

Neat Website.

Nice site. Makes me suspect that the acoustic scene might be better in Pittsburg (only 100 mi. away) than in Columbus (125 mi. away) or Cleveland (85 mi. away). Perhaps I should get out of Ohio more.

Comments: Just a note to let those of you who may not have heard know of the passing of a fine and respected member of the local music community. On Friday, August 30, 2002, we lost Edna "Eddy" Conner to cancer. Eddy sang with several rock and blues groups around the Pittsburgh area and had recorded a well-received CD entitled "Jazz From Mars." Edna had most recently performed at an organ transplant benefit at the Church Brewery where she debuted her song "2nd Chance". At that time, Eddy was still hoping for a dual lung transplant and it wasn't until mid June that the cancer was discovered. She managed to finish her last CD "2nd Chance" while on oxygen and barely able to walk into the studio. We will all miss her smiling face and beautiful voice.

Comments: Hi,

I'm a Singer/Songwriter from Washington, DC -- this is a great site! Wish we had one like this in my town!

Came across this, cuz I'm going to be in Pittsburgh for the last weekend in August and was trying to see if anybody was interested or knew somebody looking for an opening act or gig share on Saturday 8-31? I can promise similar considerations if interested parties want to play closer to my neck of the woods - I'm pretty well connected.

Thanks, I'd be happy to answer any questions, and apologize if this is not an appropriate place for this posting.

Comments: Thank you for this website. I truly enjoy it. I have been playing guitar for 26 years and have written a few songs. I love the chance to go to open mic nights and play. There is usually a great cooperation between artists, and you can learn so much. The open mic night at Cafe Bean is my favorite. I have seen age ranges from three weeks to seventy years plus. The family atmosphere is great as well as the music, sound, and , of course, the coffee. I really enjoy seeing the Primitives play, it is wonderful to
see people having so much fun playing good music. The Primitives are also wonderful in that they will offer you ways to make you sound better but they still allow you to choose the sound that you want. The sound system is
crisp and very clean with volume levels that are perfect for the acoustics of Cafe Bean.
