| Comments: | I am searching for my half siblings (2 sisters and 1 brother). My birth mother was born approx 1922 or 1923 (in mid 2009 she was 87). I'm told her surname was Daly and she had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. When contacted by a confidential intermediary in mid 2009 my birth mother said that only one of her siblings is now alive, her youngest sister. This sister was not in good health, has COPD and a variety of other things. My birth mother had colorectal cancer in 1999 and a stroke in 2007. She had a second hip replacement in 2008 and it hadn't healed right so she is confined to a wheelchair. She worked at an ammunition plant for twenty five years during her marriage, and used to like to skate and dance when she was young. She said that no one ever knew about me and as much as she would like to open it up, she doesn't want them to find out at this stage in her life. My birth mother's own mother (my birth grandmother) was 93 when she died.
I was born July 28, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. My birth mother is of Scotch-Irish ancestry. I'm told by a "search angel" that she named me Doris Daly. I'm told by Catholic Social Services that I was born at The Fairmont Home for Unwed Mothers. I was adopted less than a few weeks after I was born. My birth mother was a high school graduate. She took part in many of the school activities, such as plays and programs, played on the basketball team and liked to skate. She was a Methodist at the time of my birth and actively involved with church activities. Shortly after graduating high school I believe she joined the service (maybe Army or Navy) and was rated as a storekeeper and her work consisted mainly of bookkeeping. Her father was also of Scotch-Irish descent and died before I was born following an attack of the flu at the age of 50. During his adult life he operated a transfer company. Her mother was of Irish descent and 50 yrs old at the time of my birth (born about 1895). If my 2 sisters and 1 brother should read this email and recognize themselves I would love to hear from them. I grew up as an only child so I would welcome a relationship with them. |

The story is that i was given up because she didnt want her parents to be disappointed in her. Either the parents of my bm or b kwas associated in some way with the military. I was the product of a one night stand and no one could find him after that. My bm lived with her oldest sister out of nine who also had children out of wedlock. Either my bm or her sister wanted to be the residence manager at the dc complex they lived in. My bm had a love for dance and aspired to become a famous dancer. She was very intelligent and very beautiful.
I was sent to a foster home shortly after birth i believe to Elizabeth Perkins. I was told my name was jeanine perkins but found a picture dated 12/6/1985 with jeanine bright on the back. Adopted at 6 months old (3/1986) to a family in pg county md and given the name Latina Nichelle Ramsey. I am apparently of aa decent (mixed)? Both of birth parents were said to be health and 15 years of age at the time of my birth. I was fostered for the first few months due to illness and low weight. I have also been told when my adoptive parents picked me up I had two black eyes, bruises all over and a bow scotch taped in my dark hair. My parents were told a toddler in the foster home(2 year old boy) fell on me. My features are very sharp and angular high cheek bones. It was always speculation from family and friends that I am at least part Native American Indian-I was born with brown/black eyes and am very olive complected as are my three daughters. From what Ive learned searching and asking question is that in 1968 an adoption agency probably would not reveal information concerning mixed race if they could get away without divulging it. My girls and I would love to know if this is true because their father is 1/8 Kickapoo and 1/8 of the Illini Tribe. We are very proud of their heritage,we embrace it and celebrate it. If I perhaps I am part of another tribe that would be great...we could learn those customs and practices. |

Like many of you, I have been searching off and on (at various levels) for the last 19 yrs. I was born on 12-12-1959 and am looking for my birthmother, her sister and possible unknown 1/2 or full sibs....who knows what happened after I came along. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida in Duval County to a single white woman who was 26 yrs. old and of German/Dutch decent. My father who left town upon finding out that my BM was pregnant (military man with a college education), was 29 and of German/Italian decent. My BM had a sister who was married with 2 children at the time. I have all of the ages, heights, weights, etc. of my immediate birth family and some of their occupations. Maternal Grandfather worked for the railroad and my BM and her sister were both secretaries with H.S. Educations. I've been signing every registry that I can get a hold of. Like many who were placed by the Children's Home Society of Florida info. is limited and they wanted $800 to open my file 2 years ago. My adopted mom has said she is willing to pay it, but if I can do it without shelling out a ton of cash...well you know what I mean. I'm sure that I'm in good company when it comes to the above. Over the years, every Dec. 12th, I so want to just hug my BM and tell her how proud I am of her and for giving me life. Because of her unselfish gesture, three more lives exist...my children. Oh how I wish that my BM could see them. I have been so blessed by the choice she made. I will be forever grateful. I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day, where ever you are! |
