Comments:Hi, I can't say that I totally agree with the choise of team I mean the Chicago Blackhawks SUCK! Try cheering for a real team like Ottawa. If you are a just learning the rules of hockey I must say DO NOT. Watch NHL hockey games! THe refs STINK! I'm a 13 year old girl who love the game of hockey and I think its sad the way the refs have destroyed the game. I honeslty think that I could do a better job than most NHL refs. I can name TONS of times the refs have messed up lots of games. The GM's are also really sad. They were there together and all they could think of was rule CHANGES, how about keep the rules the way they are and just make sure they are called!

Comments:Great site. I've been wanting to go to a game for 30 yrs but restrained myself because I didn't know jack about the game.

I think that your forum would be a hit if there wasn't tons of pop ups when you do a single click.

your site is the BEST that I have found concerning the rules, and now I am going to buy four tickets to a game near Cleveland, Ohio.

Too bad the hockey leauge doesn't get into the schools to explain the game, I'm sure it would become a hit if they did,

Thanks again

this last week, as to weather they had changed the rules for
an attacker standing in the crease when a goal was scored.
It hasn't changed. Then my question would be how did they
allow the first two goals by Colorado against the Devils
when they were clearly IN the crease ??? Even an Islander
friend of mine was amazed ! Go figure.

for rules that talk about starting and stopping of play.
Specifically, when a play shoots on the goalie and the
goalie has his glove on top of the puck which is on the
ice, can the offensive player poke at the puck if the ref
has not blown the whistle? If this is in the rules book,
can you point me to the location? Thx in advance!

policy on the "in-the-crease" rule, but unfortunately you
don't seem to have it here. Could you please display more
current rules than 1997? The 1997 Rules, I think were just
before they developed the in-the-crease rule, so as it may
turn out the in-the-crease rule is not here.

Comments:Obviously, after game 6 of the finals, a lot of people must be trying to figure out the call by the officials on Brett Hull's game winning goal. On the surface, the comments by the official at the post-game press conference seemed to make sense -- the offical spokesman said that because Hull was in possession of the puck there was no violation of the rule against being in the crease. He claimed that there was a written interpretation of the "goal creae" rule by the HNL that supports his position.

Thanks to your web site, Iceman, I have now been able to read Rule 78(b) and it would appear that Hull was literally in vioation of the Rule. Care to shed any light on this controversy? Any idea where we can get ahold of the "interpretation memo" referred to by the NHL spokesman?

done. I came to use the rulebook that I needed to site for
a paper, it's the best one (and the only one) I have seen on
the Web. Thanks, keep it up!!

Tried to find an answer in the Rules, but not there.

I want to know when a goalie has to leave a game, say the
middle of the third period and they are ahead by a goal,
and now two pucks get by the new goalie and now they lose,
how does the win/lose statistics go for the two goal
tenders?

Thanks for any help.

rules of the game I didn't know. I want to thank you and
tell you to keep up the good work. I Have a question that
I was wondering if you could help me with. If 1 player
lifts another players stick over their head and causes them
to wipe out, is that considered highsticking or worse. if
anyone has the answer please e-mail me asap, because me and
my cousins play a lot and my brother-in-law always does
that.

mccarty_99@usa.net if you would like to help me out.
player a and player b are both on the same team. player a
is in the offensive zone when the opposing team flips the
puck out of their zone. player b gains control of the puck
in the neutral zone while player a remains tangled with an
opposing player behind the net. player b noticed that their
line has been on too long and dumps it in the zone, where
player a touches it. should the whistle have been blown
immediately as the puck enters the zone or should the
whistle be blown when the puck is touched by player a?
please respond, i have a valid reason.
thanx

Comments:I like your site so much I'm going to set it up as a link
from mine!! Just one thing - there wasn't an explanation of
what actually constitutes Gross Misconduct (as opposed to
"ordinary" Misconduct). However, it's still a great site
and I'm looking forward to the VirtuRink. Why not have
pictures of all the refs and linesmen on that page too?
Cheers and good luck for next season and a survey into who
dishes out most penalties would be interesting! I ran a
survey on the Czech Extraliga guys for part of '96/'97 and
the results, specially on total minor PMins and Major Pens
were worth studying - what does it say about the refs? the
players? (Haven't got it on site tho' cause the stats were
incomplete). Cheers again for a great site!!!
