My grandfather Samuel Gifford Jr.'s parents, Haiaka Ukeke Coggleshell Malina married to Samuel (BoraBora)Gifford Sr. Grandpa Sam Jr. married Mary Hapuku Makanani and this union brought my mama, Harriet Makanani Gifford. Ma married pa who came from the P.I. and how I came to be. The only makaainana was my pop. My birth name given me is MAORI PUANANI O TAHITI. This name was refused recognition and a dispute with my mom came from the Republic of Hawaii via Vital Statistic's Dept. My name was denied me and my life as HRH Princess Maori Puanani O Tahiti was stolen from me, I was forced to live my life up until now as makaainana. We have a reunion of hundreds of their descendent's in Vancouver at the Joe Mathias Meeting Hall on the Squamish Reserve in North Vancouver. Many of the names which are in this family list, such as the Kalama's have cousins in the Pacific Northwest. We have estimated that there are at least 10,000 descendents in this area. We are now using DNA to identify and seperate our lineages in order to reconstruct our family histories. There is the history of the battle of Kakanilua where the alapa regiment representing all of the royal bloodlines of Hawaii were killed in one battle in Sandhills Wailuku. Developers like to move the remains to put buildings, homes, mine cement... If there is a lineal descendant of a Wailuku family, they can have a say in how the burials are treated and possibly create a buffer zone around the burials so that buildings, roads, plumbing, sidewalks are not near or on top of the remains. My father is Daniel Ah Fah Akamu, born of Ah Fah Akamu (Ka'u, HI) and Beatrice Cazimero Akamu (Kohala, HI). My grandmother's parents were Manuel Cazimero (21 May 1888-8 May 1958) and Kamila Kanui Hanai (19 Nov 1894-24 Oct 1959) of Niulii-Kohala. I know that Manuel's parents were Antone & Anna de Souza Cazimero from San Miguel Azores, Portugal. Antone arrived in Hawaii around April 1881. It is my ggrandmother Kamila K. Hanai that I don't have much info on. Growing up, my grandma told me many stories of her life in Kohala with her many brothers and sisters and also of her parents, but refused to speak of her mother's family. We know much of the Cazimero side and our family luau's and get togethers were abundant. But no Hanai's were ever in sight. No names mentioned other than my ggrandma Kamila and no pictures of them. I find it odd that the extension of my grandma's memories were limited to her father's side. Unfortunately, time and illness has taken my beautiful grandma and most of her brother's and sister's have departed this earth, as well. The family history has left with them. I saw a comment input from Anna Kanui Hanai Wesel dated 2005. In reference: Is it possible your grandpa, WM. Kanui Hanai (wife Anna Malamanui) was my ggrandma's brother? Before passing, my mom: Ida-Pearl Benjamin Pi'ilani(B-Jan. 25th, 1943 - D-April 15th, 2007) attempted many of times..in hopes of finding some lineage to her moms side of the family. However, making such attempts turned up empty. But when going through my moms papers yesterday, I came across some names that she used in attempts, for such inquiries. Whereas, when looking for her mommy, (she started with the board of health app., of course.) Which went a little something like this: Agnes Pi'ilani Benjamin, and/or Kiha. Was born on the 26th day of November, in the year 1899, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the child of (Bill) William and Lihilihi Kiha. Who were both of hawaiian descent, and resided in the territory of hawaii. William being a descendant from Maui, and Lihilihi reigning from the Island of Oahu. From what I can remember I think grandma Agnes couldve been adopted, hence not sure, such issues were bought up when the last known information was said to be found at the catholic church in Kalihi Valley, but again, to no avail. However, when going further, into my moms papers, I came across Grandma Agnes' wedding certificate. Who at 18 got married to an Edward Ludloff, 24 of Oahu. Both parents present, (Grandma Agnes' parents) G-Grandpa, and G-Grandma (Bill) William, and Lihilihi Kiha, and (Edward Ludloffs Parents) G-Grandpa, and G-Grandma Albert (where it states he was an american and resided from the state of New York, U.S.), and Annie(Ringer) Ludloff, who was part-hawaiian and resided from the island of maui, territory of hawaii. Marriage witnessed by, Ohai Benjamin, and Sam Keaniani. Therein, at the age of 51 grandma Agnes P. Ludloff passed. However, being survived by the widower Samuel Kaulukou Kuali'i, a.k.a. Samuel Na'ilima Kaulukou Kuali'i. Two sons Edward K. Ludloff jr. (which was consimated with Edward) and, Samuel Na'ilima Gaison who my grandpa Samuel Kaulukou Kuali'i had (hanai), adopted, and four daughters: Mrs. Beatrice (Kamai), Mrs. Ivy Kealohaokalani (Nicholas), Mrs. (a.k.a.
