Comments:We had the best day and most of us had not ever seen another silver band until Banbridge. You all were so friendly and helpful and we are grateful for the chance you give us to experience our 1st "Scarva Day".We hope to keep in touch and continue to build a special relationship.
I think we have not been in contact with another silver band for 15+ years as we are the only marching Silver Band in Co Londonderry.
Banbridge silver have re-energised us and your community are very blessed to have such awesome band.

Comments:Hi all

I would like to say how enjoyable it was to parade with Banbridge Silver Band on the 12th and 13th July 2010. The parade on Monday started around 1015 at Loughbrickland with fine weather and everyone in great spirits for the day ahead. Band members old and young took up their positions but of course missed Bandmaster/President Lowry Wylie in the ranks, though true to form Lowry was there not only to see us all off but to listen and I am sure comment on the Band's performance.

The main parade was in Waringsford and after some refreshments the band led the Loughbrickland Lodge through the town which was packed with people.

Euphonium player Freddie Mitchell and his wife Angela then treated the band members to a BBQ at their home. This was a bit of a challenge due to the location being back near the assembly field but all those who made it were treated to wonderful food and liquid refreshments. THANKS FROM ME FOR THAT!!

After the return parades we concluded at Loughbrickland Orange Hall. The band were then invited to join the Lodge at the Road Side Restaurant on the A1 for a fantastic meal. Due to other band commitments I had to leave a bit early but again my thanks goes to Worshipful Master and members of the Loughbrickland Lodge.

On the 13th the parade moved off from Banbridge Orange Hall around 0915. In the lead up to this parade a member of The Curragh Silver Band had contacted the conductor through this website asking if some of their members could join Banbridge Silver to experience the "Scarva Day".

After a very early start and collection of members around the Maghera area the members of The Curragh Silver Band arrived at the start point to be issued with music and take their places in the combined band. The following email was sent to Curragh Silver following the parade:-

"We in Banbridge Silver pride ourselves not in numbers but in trying to sound as good as possible. Yesterday your members joined us with enthusiasm and real ability. From the most senior to the juniors you were truely professional and well turned out.

I (H Whan) would like to thank you on behalf of the Chairman, committee and all members of Banbridge Silver Band for your help and fellowship.

We would like to continue the contact and help you in whatever way we can in support at your events or attending future events with Banbridge Silver".

The combined band was in excess of 35 players which brought new challenges - particularly making our way up the first part of the domain which is as you know very narrow. However comments from other silver band people in the audience was very favourable.

On the 13th the Band led Banbridge District of the RBP around Banbridge and enjoyed the spectacle of Scarva where crowds seemed even bigger than usual.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE IN BANBRIDGE SILVER AND THANKS TO CURRAGH SILVER BAND FOR MAKING THIS A VERY SPECIAL DAY!!!

Comments:Hi all,
After the AGM as described by Alan in our news section it is once again my please to continue as Vice Chairman of Banbridge Silver Band. The efforts of the last few years have really paid off with improved rehearsal facilities, attendances (27 at our recent St Patrick's Day event) and a CAN DO attitude of all members. Thank you to all those who have put in an extra effort ie Our able conductor who makes all rehearsals interesting and tries to challenge us into playing better, the office bearers and all the learners who will ultimately ensure the future of the band.

I would like to add my personal congratulations to Lowry having played with the band for 60 years and now elected appropriately on his celebration year to President.

Once again we are hoping to improve as this year progresses with the diary filling up with engagements. To anyone wishing to join us please check out the contact section of the site.

Looking forward to seeing you!!

The last time i heard you playing you were very good. Keep up the good work!!

Comments:Hi all. Having left silver bands due to family life and career I returned after a good friend (Robert Gracey) invited me to join Banbridge Silver. Nine years on I am proud to be a member of this long established, friendly and great sounding band. Whilst other bands have struggled to remain marching bands Banbridge Silver has not only maintained this ability but even with small numbers on occasions has its own mellow and professional tone and appearance (see photos of the recent rememberance day parade - trombone guy looks gud - ha ha). If you are out there and would like to return to music or are just starting out why not send us an email and come along on a Monday night to the practice session. You will be hooked!! Learners class is on a Wednesday night, but with a little practice and enthusiasm you could be out on the road or at our many engagements. Well done to all members for entering and putting on a great performance at the recent contest!! H Whan
