| Comments: | Hello Ann
I ran into Alison during a visit to the university today (I don't go there so often now that I'm retired) and it prompted me to say a quick hello. So, have just been looking at your website and blog and indulging in a little nostalgia. Hard to believe it is over 3 years since we stayed. Wonderful memories though and I never tire of the Plockton photos coming on to my computer screen or photoframe. Ruah is beautiful and looks quite at home with Sponge. I'm sure she's a wonderful companion, although there will always be only one Yarrow I agree. The photo on the blog looks fantastic. You have been having lots of snow we hear and Alison filled me in on your dramas with the damp wall. That certainly is a pain. Ann, I think of you quite often as I walk (or march as you would say) through the gardens at Queens Park. Like Ian and Alison, I would love it if you visited our city sometime. Hope all is well with you and your family (my word they're growing fast). I, too, have a grandson now, Jack, and he is an absolute delight. A Scottish 'aunty' of mine used to say 'lang may your lum reek' - I'm not sure if I've remembered it correctly - but we would like to wish you all the best for 2010. | Comments: | Greetings and happy Xmas from Baringa B&B in Clontarf in Queensland where we are happy to say that we have just successfully reared two beautiful Heron chicks in our backyard. While we are basking in sunshine and plenty of it were hear that your winter is extremely cold.
Just sitting here watching Hamish Macbeth, researching Plockton and couldn't resist sending you an email as our Herons are very special to us too!!! |

| Comments: | Mrs. MacKenzie, Your home looks beautiful. I hope to be able to visit this summer. I toured the British Isles and Ireland last summer and fell in love with the Highlands. Unfortunately, the time spent there was much too short. I enjoy reading your newsletter...you bring the area to life. Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas, and a New Year that brings many great moments. Pam |

| Comments: | Mum and Dad (Philip and Muriel Knight) stayed with you around 1970. Mum and I (and my girlfriend) were due to stay with you in 1973 (?) but I crashed the car soon after Fort William which made us very late so we spent the night in the car! You did give us a wonderful breakfast though. Mum painted me a picture from a photo I took at dawn with a square rigger ship in the bay. What a memorable and magical moment. I've just found a wooden momento which says 'MacKenzie Heron's Flight Plockton' so I looked you up.
God bless. |

| Comments: | Hi Ann!
Just a short message of thanks for the magnificent hospitality that you and your family showed to Dana (Peterson) and I when we visited you early last month. Your home is truly a fabulous place, and the addition of wee Ruah and the irrascible "Sponge" begging at the breakfast table made us feel all the more at home. The rest of our holiday in Scotland was incredible, and the Lake District of England, and the mountains of North Wales were everything that I remembered from my time there (I was an exchange officer with the London Metropolitan Police for two years way backin the 1970's and first visited Scotland with mates who were all from the Strathclyde and Perthshire regions who came home at weekends to play football with their local clubs.) I have travelled much of the world and never felt more "at home" thanin Scotland. Perhaps it is because my great-grandfather came from Cowal and the heather is still "in the blood" as they say. I plan to return in late Winter or early Spring for a bit of time doing some research for a possible visit by my Civil War Regiment (the 49th Iowa) in 2011, and to round up some family records and will stop by for a "cuppa" if in the area. You can follow the exploits of the 49th Iowa by visiting www.iowavalor.com. Give wee Ruah and Sponge hugs from Dana and me, and I hope you have a marvelous holiday season. Best regards, David |

| Comments: | Hello Ann (and Ruah and Sponge),
Thanks again for your great hospitality,we enjoyed your porridge with fresh fruit and the other surprises you gave us for breakfast. But the most beautiful was the sight from our room: we were sleeping with open curtains to enjoy the view. Next time we visit Scotland we surely will return to your lovely house. Just a little note to say a very big "THANK YOU" again for your wonderful hospitality. So very warm and welcoming. We just love the views from your wonderful home. Simply stunning. Great breakfast as well. The weather conditions were varied to say the least this time, but we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the touring around we managed to do. We look forward to seeing you all again. Best wishes |

| Comments: | Hi Ann and Ruah and Sponge,
Greetings from Colorado, USA. I was checking my email this morning and a little voice (I think it was Steven's) whispered in my ear to check the Heron's Flight website. It was wonderful to see you all and the whole Plockton area again. We're thinking of trying to get to Scotland in 2009, the economy permitting. Do you have "our room" or any room available for April or May?? Ruah is a cutey. We loved Yarrow so much that we have his picture on the wall of our new dog grooming business. I hope he doesn't mind. Have a wonderful off-season and "quiet" time and we hope to see you sometime next year. Cheers, Steve & Lou LaMontia Estes Park, CO, USA |

| Comments: | Hi Ann,
Saw an episode of Hamish MacBeth the other night and read a novel set in your part of the world recently but, even without those reminders, I think of you and your hospitality often. Thanks again for everything. There's a decent sized croc in the weir near our place but we won't attempt to catch it for dinner if (hopefully when)you come to Townsville again(please)! | Comments: | Well, Ann (& Alison!), what a lovely place. Whenever we are in the mood (and quite a bit at that), we put on Hamish MacBeth and slouch down on our couch with some heather ale and moan a collective sighhhh. For our 5/21/06 wedding present, our best man (from Penrith) gave us a trip to the UK whenever we want, but something has always come up. First we had to close our pub (The White Cockade Scottish Pub in Boulder Creek, Calif.) cos the property owner was going into foreclosure without telling us (but one of our ghosts hitchhiked home with us!), and then this and that, but I said, John, 2009 Scotland! No more waiting! And so we give ye fair warning, Mum! Now all we have to do is fit back into our kilts from not running around a bar and pub all day...oh dearie! Your home looks luvly, Ann. I truly hope we can come see you Summer of '09. Beannacht liat Dia, agus slainte'! |

| Comments: | Belated thanks Ann for a wonderful stay last weekend. We truly enjoyed our stay at Heron's Flight and look forward to returning at some future date. It was also a pleasure to meet your grandson Sam and Jean-Claude and Christine, your guests from Belgium.
My only disappointment was that you wouldn't allow us to kidnap the gorgeous Ruah and take her back to Edinburgh!! Still, there's always next time! |

Your hospitality and charm were infectious as was the scenery even thou the landscape was shrouded in misty rain. I hope your well and i look forward to revisiting soon kind regards Neil Matthew Morpeth Northumberland |

| Comments: | Hi Ann,
As my husband and I are planning a tour through Scotland this August I am just doing some internet research to find a place to stay for 4 to seven days and from which we can go to Skye and along parts of the west coast. The area round Plockton seems to be ideal and your B & B is very inviting. However, we have no idea whether it will be difficult to find accommodation for this time of the year. Should we book now or will it be possible to find something once we will be there? We are looking forward to your reply. Rita and Leo |

| Comments: | Hi Ann
Hope you enjoyed Edinburgh - it must be fantastic coming home to Herons Flight too. Thanks for making us so welcome - felt very much at home. We would have loved Yarrow and wished we'd come to Plockton sooner and met him. Our manic doggies were excited to see us as always, and had a good sniff at our clothes that had been sat on by Sponge! We'll be keeping an eye on your website and look forward to hearing of your new companion - hope all goes well. Thanks so much again for a short but very memorable first stay in Plockton. Best wishes Kath & Chris PS Forgot to tell you Chris released a trapped wren from the creels on the little harbour just beyond Heron's Flight. Might be worth checking for trapped birds occasionally, unless the owner could be asked to leave the creels open. |

| Comments: | Dear Ann,
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, we have just returned home after a wonderful stay at Heron's Flight. It was our first visit, but hopefully wil not be our last! Our bedroom had the most wonderful views of Loch Carron, it was almost like waking up on a ship! Your breakfasts were wonderful, and the advice you gave us on trips in the area, was invaluable. We shall never forget our trip to Applecross, with such stunning views. As many guests before us have said, Plockton just has to be the most beautiful village in Scotland! We hope to see you again before too long. Best wishes, Fiona & Bob |
