| Feedback: | I like your website. Keep going its help other. Angel are alway watching us. The reason that I am writing to your organization is that I am totally confused about Mr. Harper party’s views. I was rise in the Catholic Church and I loved Pope John Paul II. I watch two movies of his life. These movies help me to become more stronger Catholic then ever before. At this time, I am involved with another religion and it upset me a lot. (I do not have the choice of Religion at this time so remember there many out there who cannot choice the religion they want. So enjoy your freedoms.) Few members of this church are promoting war. Some think being gay is worst then killing someone. The Pope would never agree in killing anyone. In both movies, the Catholic Church promoted not to kill. I know our church has a bad history of murdering people. The Pope believed that his country was going to be free someday. Nothing could stay the same soon or later someone will fight for Poland freedoms. When you fight, do not hate or kill or enemies. This proves that the Pope John Paul II would not agree with Mr. Harper stands on the War in Iraq. When he wins, he will take the children to war, which is against the ten commands. He will use the money that is now ear mark for socially programs and turn it towards future involvement in missile defence programs and other militaristic programs that are still on the drawing table for future ideas. When the Catholic people vote, they have to make a choice. Do they vote Mr. Harper and go against our past wonderful Pope or do they vote for Liberals party. So far Mr. Martin shows a willingness to provide rights for all people. If you read the Bible, it said let innocent throw the first stone. Taking this into context, Jesus would have treated all people the same and because we are worldly people, we are not perfect. We should not go after other people life style because we do not approve of it. So, the question is, who should people vote for? Should they vote for the Green Party or NDP? Or do they vote Mr. Harper or the Prime Minter Martin. This is a big decision for the Catholic people. Maybe someone has a thought. |

| Feedback: | I have to admit I am a lttle confused by your latest missive re Ellen White and Christmas trees...but I need to read it more carefully. What was also interesting was that Jessica's great grandmother on her dad's side was called Ellen White, and we know very little about her...so can you give me more info there. |

| Feedback: | I appreciate your looking all this up. I have been a member in several where they have an angel tree. On it are paper angels with names of items on them. People take an angel and bring the item(s) that are used to make up hampers for needy families. I think it is very nice. Also, the Aldergrove church use to make a tree out of pointsettias along with little lights. It was unique and very pretty. There was a wooden stand that the plants fit into. Then they were sold and the money retrieved. For us, Christmas is more coming together as a family and enjoying each other's company. Because we often have to spend money on travel to be together, we don't buy a lot of gifts for each other. We do give gifts to the children. |

| Feedback: | Hi Cynthia, My husband always says in context of cause sometimes we make EG White our weakest point as well as our strongest. E.G. White has plainly labelled her work as a lesser light that is to lead us to the greater light. She further says if we read the Word of God there would have been no need for her books. When she is she silent about matters where she 'appears' to be contradicting the Bible, she says the Bible takes precedence over her writings. I have read her views on Christmas, and to me she seems to be talking about both how she chooses to celebrate the so called birth of Christ and how it could be celebrated by those who do so. This is available on the this website www.egwestate.andrews.edu/ when you type on the topic Published Writings of Ellen G. White, under search all categories and type on query. The opening quotation of your email about your conversation with someone yesterday is among those too. My concern and point of prayer is that our church seems to be divided by this celebration as it appears both sides have legitimate proofs to celebrate or not to celebrate it. So my personal dilemma bringing up children is do we continue telling them that Christ was not born on Christmas even though their Sabbath School lessons claim that. So as they grow up my worry is do they then say: "well, in our church we are sometimes taught things that are not true." I love my church and would never want them to think we do not live by God's word as we teach them each day. As a new parent, this time of the year in North America is very stressful for me in respect to them. One pastor on 3ABN once said white lies and black lies all come from one source. I was asking myself if perhaps E.G. White did not write these statements on Christmas for those who agreed 100% that they should celebrate it and how they should do it if they so choose. And as a prophetess of God, she urges that we use her books to support truth that is already established not to bring in new truths and when in doubt God's Word the Bible should take first place. |

| Feedback: | Because the "Ask the Pastor" forum is currently down, I am going to use the "Feedback" forum to share some of the comments received in emails following my email about Ellen White's writings about Christmas trees in Adventist homes. The writings I quoted from were: According to our friends at the White Estate, here is what she said in context: How many parents are lamenting the fact that they cannot keep their children at home, that they have no love for home. At an early age they have a desire for the company of strangers; and as soon as they are old enough they break away from that which appears to them to be bondage and unreasonable restraint, and will neither heed a mother's prayers nor a father's counsels. Investigation would generally reveal that the sin lay at the door of the parents. They have not made home what it ought to be--attractive, pleasant, radiant with the sunshine of kind words, pleasant looks, and true love. The secret of saving your children lies in making your home lovely and attractive. and On Christmas, so soon to come, let not the parents take the position that an evergreen placed in the church for the amusement of the Sabbath school scholars is a sin; for it may be made a great blessing. Keep before their minds benevolent objects. In no case should mere amusement be the object of these gatherings. While there may be some who will turn these occasions into seasons of careless levity, and whose minds will not receive the divine impress, to other minds and characters these seasons will be highly beneficial. I am fully satisfied that innocent substitutes can be devised for many gatherings that demoralize. Christmas is coming. May you all have wisdom to make it a precious season. Let the older church members unite, heart and soul, with their children in their innocent amusement and recreation, in devising ways and means to show true respect to Jesus by bringing to Him gifts and offerings. Let everyone remember the claims of God. His cause cannot go forward without your aid. Let the gifts you have usually bestowed upon one another be placed in the Lord's treasury. . . . In every church let your smaller offerings be placed upon your Christmas tree. Let the precious emblem "evergreen" suggest the holy work of God and His beneficence to us; and the loving heart-work will be to save other souls who are in darkness. Let your works be in accordance with your faith. . . . and While urging upon all the duty of first bringing their offerings to God, I would not wholly condemn the practice of making Christmas and New Year's gifts to our friends. It is right to bestow upon one another tokens of love and remembrance if we do not in this forget God, our best friend. We should make our gifts such as will prove a real benefit to the receiver. I would recommend such books as will be an aid in understanding the Word of God, or that will increase our love for its precepts. Provide something to be read during these long winter evenings. . . . | Feedback: | Hi again! Well as for television watching it can reek havoc in your lives if you let it. Right now I only watch tv late at night usually after nine that is. My husband is a real couch potato. However when I first joined the church in the early '80s we had given our good but old television set to my aunt and uncle in exchange for a load of black soil. We were two whole years without a TV in our home and it was marvelous. Our three boys and my husband also were reading much more than usual. My husband came to the Lord during that time. We did spend more quality time together. When we moved away from the city it was quieter and my husband started missing the action I guess and I was going to school. Well he decided to get another television set and our lives have never been the same since. From that experience our two youngest sons have never been avid TV watchers and the youngest who just got married has convinced his new wife that they do not need a set in their home. My boys(men) are still walking with the Lord and my husband well he needs our prayers in order for him to grow up some more and understand where God is coming from. Television can be good but it can also drastically alter your life. |

| Feedback: | Hi, I want you to know that I enjoy Angel Co-OP very much. I am sorry that I haven't written sooner. I am sure it is nice to know that we are out here reading and getting up lifted from the work you are doing. Thankyou for the recipes, I am always looking for something new. The soup recipe is similar to one I do except I call it enthusiastic soup. (you put everything you have into it) Our church is putting on the StepFast program in the spring. It is in between the NewStart and the CHIP programs. God Bless and keep up the good work |

| Feedback: | This morning I read chapter 20, "Restoring Broken Felowship" This really touched my heart. I have always maintained relationships by "not making waves." I still believe that most of the time this is the correct plan. There is so much out there and within the church that is not worth making much of it. But have I been instucted to speak and I kept silent, too often? Just last night a sister asked me a question about her relationships in the church and I danced around the issue. I need to phone her right now and give her better council. I think I'll suggest she read this chapter. A peacemake must deal with issues. |

| Feedback: | Thank you so much, Cynthia, for the blessing that you have been in my life, both through your web site and in person. I am enjoying THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE. Like so many I question if I am doing all of what wants for me during this time in my life. Some times I feel that I just dabble. But due to physical limitations, I think that is all that I am able to do. I am thankful for this time that I have to spend more time in spiritual reflection and contimplation. I ask for prayer for Katherine. I have been visiting her in prison for the last couple of years. Her sentence is almost finished. (She killed an abusive spouse.) She is now in a half way house, which in many ways is more stressful than the prison. She will be released this spring and she has so many decisions to make. She has two girls, twelve and thirteen. And here in the southern USA her oppertunities are now severely limited by law with a crimnal record. How often we have all felt like prisoners of our circumstances. Well, let me tell you sisters, for the most part, our circumstances are but a DIM reflection of life in a state prison. She has been a great blessing in my life. And I know she would appreciate your prayers. |

| Feedback: | I have to tell you that God allowed you to email me to share the Purpose Driven Life. Its ironic, this book, The Purpose Driven Life I received as a gift from my girlfriend in Oct. 2003. I decided to pick this book up on Dec. 31, 2003. As I begin to read, the book captivated my attention to where I could not put it down. So I decided to get on the internet and check my email, and Lord behold you emailed me wishing me a happy year, and mentioning The Purpose Driven Life. My dear, that was a confirmation, I don't know you from adam, and you sent me the email. Yes this is a powerful book, and I know that the Lord is going to bless. Thank you for sending me the email. You too have a blessed year. God bless you. Bobbie |

| Feedback: | It`s not about you! It cetainly isn`t yet little insignifi- cant us(human beings) have such a short memory and we try to do everything on our own without consulting the owner`s manual or the owner Himself, Him being God and so readily available to us. I can remind myself that God is in control not me, myself and I by being in constant contact with Him. It is so easy to forget who is in control with all that life entails especially on the fast track. We have so much on our plate these days what with T.V and clubs and even church. Yes church can overtake your time that you lose perspective of what`s really important such as your communion with God your creator and your obligations toward your family. |

I went to the author's site and it sounds like an excellent testimonial for women who are struggling to find how God has equipped them to serve. Contact me at angelco.op@sasktel.net if you would like to review this (or any other woman-inspiring) book! God bless you! |

| Feedback: | I have also read Gwen Shamblin's books- the Weigh Down Diet and Rise Above. I think she makes a lot of sense. The ideas seem nutritionally sound and spiritually uplifting. As a 'nutritionist' working on my registration as a dietitian, I can relate to her frustrations with weight. You'd think I'd know better! I'm struggling to lose 20-40 pounds myself. I'll pick up your challenge Cynthia and see if I can lose by following her plan too. If we're sucessful, maybe we could send for some of her materials and start a group or something. Happy Eating! |
