He has done a lot of research My father Richard was born in or near Fostoria. Before he died he researched quite a bit of the genology... back to Virginia around the Revolutionary War. He found two brothers that migrated to Oregon in 1852... John and Martin. They had lived near Galipolis in SE Ohio. I don't know if we are connected! |

John Kuntz, who came to America in 1690. He was a German Baptist preacher (Annabaptist), who came here to escape religious persecution. I have been told on several occasions that the German Baptists are of Jewish descent. I have even met a man named ML Koontz, who is Jewish.FYI... My father was raised in the Church of the Bretheren (Annabaptist) and I am a United Methodist affiliated Christian. John Kuntz, became John Koontz and settled in what is now Page County, VA. I am not as organized as you, but have received bits and pieces from other relatives and will look to enetually piece it together. The farthest back on the Koontz side that I have any notes on is James Koontz, born Sep 18, 1818 in Virginia and died April 13, 1878. James was married to Harriet Harrison, direct descedent of William Henry Harrison. Harriet dates are b. 6-27-1822 and d. 12-3-1892. Their son, James H Koontz, was my great, great grandfather. He was was born 10-17-1846 in Putman County West Virginia, the fourth of eleven children. James H married Sofia Jane Lee, who was the granddaughter of William Henry Lee and Rebecca Sewell, and they moved to the area first around Champaign, Il, and then to Shelby County Illinois. James and Sofia had ten children, of which my grand father Bruce, was the 6th child. The names, that I have, in decending order, are - Laura, John, Frank, Jacob, Bert, Bruce, Emma, Alta, Jennie, and Lucy. Bruce married Nettie Hoagland and had eight children - Bernice, Geneva, William, Wesley, Gwen, Mildred, Verna, and Earl. My father is Earl, and he was the only male to have a son. I have two sons, Zachary and Nicholas. Do not know if any of this ties to yours, but let me know. Again, good luck on your website. |
