He always used to say "Nobody comes from Angmering" as if that was a popular local saying. I guess this guy would be about 45 now. Would anyone know of the Angmering Thompsons?

Comments:Do any of the villagers of Angmering village know of a cottage called YSIAD ? It was in a group of cottages , on a hill to the north of the village. Ysiad was Daisy spelt backwards.
As a child we use to holiday there before the war. But then the war came, and we use to watch the dog fights over the Downs. Sadly I only ever went back once with my children. Even more sad was the wonderful open fields that horses use to be kept in, were now gone and only houses could be seen.
Would like to know more information.

Just popping in to get my latest Angmering 'fix'
I love to follow the progress of the village and find out what's happening.

My parents, Peter and Vera Penn, send their regards to anyone that may remember them from long ago.
They are now in their eighties, and plodding along slowly.

Thanks for such a fine, informative site.
It keeps those of us who will probably never get the opportunity to return to Angmering, a way of keeping in touch with the lovely village (where I was born.)

Bye for now,
Regards,

Marilyn Work (nee Penn)
Hoping this gets 'posted'.....haven't been successful in getting message posted lately.

Comments:This is a really superb site. Comprehensive, informative, up-to-date. I'm doing some research into possible places to move to with my two young sons, and your site is, by a mile, the best local guide for any of the areas I've looked at so far. And it's put Angmering at the top of my shortlist, so I'll be paying a visit soon! Keep up the good work.

My hustand, my son and I are planning to move to Angmering in the Summer and, being the inherently nosey person that I am, I wanted to find out something about Angmering's past. This site more than fits the bill and may I say a big 'thank you'. Well done and keep up the good work!

Came upon it during family history research - of course! - most of my mothers family came from the Worthing area, including West Tarring, Heene, etc, with some links to Angmering. Names included Ball, Carter, Grevatt, Bone, Berry, etc.

Although I no longer live in Sussex, I still have fond childhood memories of the time when we lived, during the war, near Felpham when my grandfather was stationed with the RAF at Ford.

All best wishes.

Comments:Having looked at the wonderful collection of old village photographs I have to admit being directly related to the Terry family who lived in the house next to the Lamb. The family is described as 'enormous, there having been 17 children!' Actually there were 18 altogether, my father Harry, who was known in the village as 'Brusher' was the 18th and he died at the age of 92 a few years ago. What came as a great surprise to me were the two photographs of the crenelated house next to the Lamb where my Grandfather James and his wife Edith raised their family. I had not seen either photograph before and I would dearly like to obtain copies of them for my family records. Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of them? The Terrys have often been described as eccentric characters. James was the Village butcher and Edith, who always wore a man's hat ran a local newspaper business of sorts. I am always anxious to learn more about this rather strange family so if anyone can tell me more I would be most interested

Those who have experienced the system can testify as to its effectiveness. Couple that with sweeping away the clogging layers of bureacracy that infect the current system.

Comments:NEWS FROM A-BROAD!!
Stoupa in a stupor since the Bishop of Angmering - Cardinal Rogers-Davis said roger & out, and returned to Blighty, last weekend. Residents in this now quiet again seaside village have noticed a significant fall in the Pun count.
R-D {tipped to be next Pope, and first Englishman since Nickelarse Brokespears} left behind a wave of unexploded puns which were thankfully cleared by the Greek Ministry of Wit & Repartit, using their new solar powered anti-neilotrope - returned the atmosphere to normal boring factor five jokes, in only 3 days.
"Bit of an aunty-climax really!" said our wibbly-wobbly correspondent, METAXA MAN, as he snored his way through another bottle of 3 star.
It is rumoured that if elected, The Cardinal will take the name Pope Quasi-Modo I, and reduce the use of the bells in Vatican City, and only have his food delivered to him from the famous Parisienne caterer "Lunchpack Of Notre Dame"

Comments:Wonderful website about an obviously beautiful village.

Am particularly interested in the family history information - and would love to express my great appreciation to all the hard work which I know would have gone into it. My particular interest is in my ancestors the Drewetts and Knowles who show up in the late 1600 and 1700's. Although I have viewed the parish registers through this site I have gathered so much more information which I would have been unaware was available without many more 'fishing expeditions' in various records.

Thanks again and we hope to visit the village later this year when we visit the UK.

WHG was a folk song collector, both in the Isle of Man where his parents came from, and in Sussex. His papers are missing and I am wondering if anyone knows anything of what happened to the Gill family or remembers anything about them. I still hope his papers can be found and we can see not just what he collected in the Isle of Man but also around the village.
