Comments:Dear Trevor

Thank you very much for your informative email. I have just been looking at the list of makers marks and I think I am right that the 'A MARTIN' after 'MARTINS'
is my grandfather C A MARTIN & SONS the C has been obliterated I may be wrong but it is a thought. I am not very mobile at the moment but hope to come to dear Guernsey fairly soon and will certainly come to visit you.

With very best wish

Martyn

Comments:I was delighted to find your homepage regarding your cans, as my Grandfather Charles Martin of CA Martin & Sons of the Bordage at least 60 years sold cans from a man in St Martins and I remember as a boy (I'm now 75 !!) seeing the log as shown in your pictures and helping to assist in making part of a can. The cans in those days had ca martin on the base in later years 70's to 80's Eric Martin the last surviving member of the family opened a shop in the Pollet for a number of years he was my Uncle. It is wonderful that your craft continues and long may it do so

With every best wish
