My older sister, Lynette Harmon Ladd, graduated in 1966 and went to Leysin American School. Lynette not only graduated from Abqaiq, but she and her husband just retired from Aramco in February 2009. For the first time in over 50 years, I have no family living and working Saudi. | Comments: | I just returned from the 2009 National Senior Games at Stanford University in Calif. where 10,000 athletes ages 50 and above competed in 25 different sports from Aug. 1st - 9th. I took a 4th place in the 50 yd. breastroke and a 6th place in the 100 yd. breastroke for the 50-54 age group. There were 142 entries and 19 heats in the 50 yd. br. and 17 heats for the 100 yd. br. I am totally stunned and saddened at hearing this news.I knew Jimmy well as he was an admirable foe for many many years in the Aramco Dhahran Little League circles when I played for the Royals, Steelers, and Bears against his teams. I chatted with "Aunt Lucy" (Jimmy's awesome mom) for about 30 mins at the Aramco Las Vegas Reunion last Sept. so this news hit me as a total shock and surprise. Within a short time we moved into company housing. My first girl friend in DH was Diane Armstrong and last was Camille McCann. My father (Andy) happened to have BADGE #1, that's my claim to fame. I attended 7 high schools (Dad had many jobs) and joined the Army in 1963. In 1979 I returned to Saudi with my wife and 2 children. I worked at King Faisal Hospital In Riyadh and returned to San Diego 4 years later. I have been happily married for 43 years (same woman) and recently sold my business in San Diego. We retired in November of 08. |

We had a mini Aramco reunion last month over the holidays on board the RCCL Navigator of the Seas cruise ship out of Fort Lauderdale. 10 were with us including Aramco Brats Tom Nine (Dh.72),Fred Bobb (Dh.72), Marc Dorsch (Dh.76), Debbie Dorsch (Dh.73)and Aramco retirees Pat Dorsch (Aramco Schools),Arthur Bobb (Aramco Medical Services),and Dottie Srembo (Aramco Medical Services). I remember playing with cap guns with the Barrie twins, the "circus" we made at the Mahan's, the procession and buriel of a dead kitten with the Hill family, playing slaves and runaways on the jebels by the oleanders above the garages with Garth Stauffer, sitting on a stinging jelly fish at Half Moon Bay, even being baptised in the DH pool by Pastor Nelson! I am so looking forward to the LA reunion. |

| Comments: | My Dad came to KSA in 1956, due to a lack of family housing my mother and I arrived in the summer of 1959. I grew up in New Jersey and my frist trip to Europe was 1n 1957, boy was my world opened up, sort of came back to NJ a celebrity. Many adventures followed. The hot air blasting your face getting off the plane for the first time in Dhahran, my mother fainting and our new home a pink portable across from the DH school on loan from the Tomkins for the summer. Making friends before the start of school that summer, boating on Half Moon Bay in a boat my Dad built. Fishing for Hamoor and meeting kids at the pool. Does anyone know what happened to Tania Meade? Many fond memories to think on while presently unable to retire, yes those carefree days!!! |

I am well, my baby just turned 1 and I am loving every second of it. My husband is back in school getting an MBA which translates into me never getting to see him. When I get time to myself, which is rarely, I go horseback riding, and quilt. I still work as a nurse once a week in an ER and that keeps me sane. At least I know I'm not as crazy as some folks out there. Life is grand. I know I suck about keeping in touch, but if you would like to write I would love to hear from you. |
