I wanted to inquire how to get a scholarship for your program and if it's primarily geared toward white people or people from all backgrounds. I recently moved to Brooklyn and I'm interested in becoming involved in community organizing but I was recommended to attend trainings. I am not white but feel I still had a privileged background. I am unemployed right now though but would like to pick up skills for the pursuit of employment. I am barely making ends meet at this time though and just graduated, so I wondered if there was a possible scholarship or work exchange that could be figured out. Thank you for your time and consideration. - Aida |

I’m writing in regards to an event I think may be of interest to AntiRacist Alliance. The African Diaspora Film Festival (ADFF)'s mission is to present films about the Global Black Experience. ADFF is an international event that brings to New York an array of films from all over the world by and about people from Africa and of African descent. The aim of ADFF is to expose diverse audiences to the richness of a movement of images and ideas that has contributed to enhance the cultural scenario in New York City in a way that is only experienced in the context of the African Diaspora Film Festival. Thanks to all of the above, the African Diaspora Film Festival offers a very intense, rich, culturally sophisticated, emotionally challenging and entertaining experience in a city that is one of the world's cultural centers. Our main festival is from the November 27 to December 14th. However we have screenings running up to the festival. This month our main feature is Gospel Hill, which is film addressing Civil Rights issues and will be showing at The Riverside Theatre New York. I believe that your organization would be interested in the films themes and those who benefit from your resources would also be interested in a film that addresses these relevant issues. It stars Danny Glover and Angela Bassett. I was wondering if you were interested in advertising the event on your webpage as an event people may be interested in attending? Below I have included a movie synopsis and the times that it will be showing at. Also If you are interested I can supply you with more information of our others film that we are showing at a similar time. I hope this is something you are interested in participating in. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson GOSPEL HILL Greed and idealism collide in this powerful narrative staring Danny Glover, Angela Bassett, Samuel L. | Comments: | Good Afternoon, I had a horrible experience at a restaurant in Huntsville, AL. The restaurant not only acted inappropriately, but also did not respond to letters I sent to the location in Huntsville and their headquarters. My friends and I were dining out. The couple my friend and I were with were biracial. There was a person sitting a few tables down from us that started behaving very inappropriately. He was drawing swastikas and making KKK hoods on his table with crosses. The most horrible part was that there was a waitress there talking to him the whole time and never asked him to stop or went to get the manager... and we were kicked out. Everyone in our party that evening transferred here with our company. We came here to help open a call center for a fortune five hundred company and to bring more jobs to the area. We knew that we might be faced with discrimination and racism. However, for a business to ignore this kind of behavior from one of their customers in this situation was absolutely appalling. I first emailed the company and after no response in a week I sent them a letter and gave them a month to respond. Still, I have heard or received nothing from them. I want for everyone to know about this. I don't know how or if you are able to help me. I can provide you with copies of the letters that I sent and more detail if you would like.
Thank you for your time, Lori Evans omg.hi.brb@gmail.com |

| Comments: | Dear Editor,
I would like to suggest to find information and provide our audience with helpful tips on how to deals with so much racism. Racism against "illegals" is a topic that everyone has been talking about since 2005 specially in Hazleton, PA but now it is expanding over other medias like MYSPACE. See the link. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=41016453 Myspace should be a place to have fun, meet friends, meet classmates, and socialize but unfortunatly some people are showing hate, racism, and insulting other cultures. I am hispanic and when I saw this profile......wow I really felt ofended. This person is using Myspace not only to communicate his anger, racism but also to diminish the hispanic culture and abuse our "rights". We are living in year 2009 with so many technological advancements, economical, political and educational changes. It is unbelievable, some citizens still living in a "bubble" with a close mind and are afraid to open the "diversity door". Please take in consideration my topic. Sincerely, Veronica |

The idea first came because I wanted to bring ska bands down to FLorida to play a festival of all ska. After talking to the lead singer of one of the bands, he suggested that I put on the show for a cause. After much thought, I found that the cause was obvious: anti racism. Ska music has a long line of anti racism and even the first ska bands back in the 1960's had intergrated memebers both black and white. I come to this organization to ask if you would be interested in being a sponsor for the festival. Please, reply back to me if you are interested. Thank you. |

| Comments: | Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am very impressed by the mission of your organization and wish to draw your attention to the things that are currently occuring in my country Nigeria racism-wise. I attended Lancaster University, United Kingdom in 2005-2006 and finished with a Master's degree. While I was in Lancaster, I enjoyed myself and interacted with people from different countries who I am still in contact with. Generally, I had no racial problems in lancaster and the UK except that I noticed that some jobs I was qualified for could not be mine just because when filling the application forms, I marked Black-African. Twice I was called a Monkey, one in Morecambe and another on Lancaster Market day by a fruit seller. There is also a structural issue of racism against Nigerians in Nigeria by foreigners.I am an Engineer working in Nigeria for a french multinational company and I have noticed that wages of Nigerian engineers are greatly reduced and they work for peanuts. Foreigners who do not know what we know and who dont have the skills we do are paid very well and that provokes recentment. This is one of the key issues generating kidnapping of foreigners in the Oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The indigenes of the land live in poverty while foreigners are paid in Euro and Dollars and live well. The Oil Companies deliberately destroy the Eco-system of the area by not cleaning up oil- spillages. Do you know that there are about 72 New Oil spills that occur in the Niger Delta daily, but in 2005 or 2006 when there was an Oil spill somewhere in the UK, desperate efforts were made by the company concerned to clean up the area and I even think they also paid compensation. This is not done in Nigeria. When the indigenes ask for this, the companys use divide- and-rule tactics to destroy opposition. The government needs the money from the delta and do little to oppose those who do business for them in drilling the oil. This makes the indigines to take to militancy. The result- increase in world oil prices as militants destroy foreign Oil installations. Racism is bad and destroys the world. I have a passion to change things here. There are no Anti-Racism organisations in Nigeria to act as pressure groups. Racism is particularly rampant in Companies operated by the Chinese, Indians and Lebanese in Nigeria. Rape, concealment of industrial injuries to avoid paying compensation, etc are some of their acts. They continue because people like your movement dont exist here. I am willing to help you set up in Nigeria. As I said, I have a passion to change things here. Please help. My father is currently a victim of Racism in a Lebanese company. It pains me to see him being robbed of his entitlements just because he is Black. I hope to hear from you soon. God bless you. |

| Comments: | I am so glad that I came across your website. I am very interested in getting involved with the anti-racist movement, but I am not sure how to start. I live in Detroit and I do not know of any group in Michigan like yours to get involved with. I am a special education teacher that believes that the teachings that ARA offers should be part of every school curriculum. I am currently working on a Master's degree with a dual concentration in educational leadership and curriculum and am planning to conduct research in the area of racism in public education for the required research project and am trying to convince some of the classmates in my cohort to do the same.
I am currently working on putting together some kind of anti-racist and social justice curriculum that would be taught in public schools. Workshops and teacher in-services are a great way to start discussing the problems of racism, but what is really needed is an ongoing and mandatory program for students that teaches them about diversity, white privilege and racism. This program could be infused into existing social studies, history, and political science classes. I want to know if I could start some kind of satellite of the ARA in Michigan. My wife and I have plenty of spare time to devote to this cause. I am very serious about getting something like this started in this area as this is a very diverse region with more than its share of racial problems and tension. Michael Domzalski |

What amazed us was the degree to which we could see in faces and words the transformative effect of the training on people who spoke about their experience. I've never seen that kind of response to any of our denomination antiraism efforts. We look forward to deepening our involvement with the Anti-Racist Alliance. | Comments: | I teach at the George Williams College School of Social Work at Aurora University in Aurora, IL (outside Chicago). Along with two colleagues, I just finished teaching an advanced group work course in which we helped a group of MSW students to plan, carry out, and evaluate a weekend program for high school students who were interested in building interracial friendships. We plan to continue doing this work, and want to network with others who are doing similar work with elementary and high school students. Antiracist ideas and writings have been very helpful to us. |

| Comments: | There are no words to express my experience in New Orleans this past week at the The People's Institute 25th Anniversary. It was empowering all the while celebratory of the work that has been done, the work being done and the work that lies ahead. The conference enabled me to learn how to continue in the struggle to undo racism in an atmopshere of safety, trust & love. I feel forever changed by Barbara Majors, David Billings, Monica Dennis, Marjorie Billings who conducted the first training I attended in Nov. 2004. It's been a great Awakening! Thank you Sandra Bernabei & Mary Pendergreen . Thank you to the PISA- Ron Chisom, Al, Dr. Washington, Stella Billings, Tyrone,Mahdi, Rev. Youngblood and so many more. |

| Comments: | I am doing a research project on anti and have just recently come across your website on the AntiRacist Alliance and I am surprised on how much u are doing with it, may I say that it's great to know that there are people with this type of dedication to do what they believe in. I personally and strongly believe that that every one is equal no matter what the color of their skin is or what their ethnic or racial background is. I just wanted to thank you and who ever is helping you with this site for all the information you have provided me with. |

| Comments: | racism is the computer virus that is making our whole society sick, at every level. it is the worm, eating away at the apple until is has become rotten. We can never have a healthy society until growing numbers of us address racism and pledge to 'undo it.' |

| Comments: | thoughts of a white antiracist
Martin Luther King, Jr. would weep!! As I look at all the MLK celebration events...the dream lives on...and on and on kind of thing, I think to myself, Martin Luther King, Jr. would weep and who knows what Malcolm X would do to see what has happened since their deaths. Disparities continue to grow between black America and white America in healthcare, education (we have more black men in the criminal justice system than in institutions of higher learning), housing, finance, employment, wages...actually in every indices of life. The media's single focus on diversity to the exclusion of equity serves to KILL THE DREAM. What happened to the beloved community? We will live King's dream when we work together to undo systemic and structural racism that continues to manifest its ugly self in every institution of this great nation...that means working for equity without minority status and to stay focused on quality of life by diminishing the persistence of the racial divide. It may begin with diversity but certainly does not end there. Enough of diversity! Let's focus on equity, proportionate representation at the decision making table and the fair redistribution of resources. Then, we will actually be a great nation and a living example of the beloved community. Peace, Sandra Bernabei www.antiracistalliance.com Justice-Racial Equity-Inclusion |
