There are so many penalties and laws that lead to imprisonment. And guess who gets locked behind bars? The numbers are staggering. I learned that there is mandatory sentencing for certain crimes. So what are we supposed to do, lock them up and throw away the key? I want to do something about this in my own community of SOHO before one more Black or Latino is dragged into court and thrown in jail. |

My girlfriend and her 5 year old daughter are being evicted from their home because I moved in with them. She rented the apartment in November 2011 and notified the landlord that her boyfriend would be moving in at the start of December. Everything was fine, we take great care of the place and the property. Although the landlord had never met me he would bring by dinner occasionally from one of his restaurants and seemed to be a genuine caring person. January 13th, 2012 at 1:00 PM, I was backing out of the driveway when he approaches my car and asked me "Why are you parking here?". I respond by telling him " I am Jackie's boyfriend". He says ok and tells me Happy New years! Nice to meet you, and I continue on my way. 15 minutes later he calls my girlfriend at her work and says he needs to see her right away. She goes to see him on her lunch break and he tells she has 48 hours to leave his property because he does not rent to black people. I am African American.

While on the subway, I thought about how it's essentially a railroad that's underground. I looked at some of the passengers who obviously didn't grow up with the advantages I had. Then it hit me! These people ARE on an underground railroad, but instead of escaping to freedom, they are STUCK in this system. The thought of dismantling racism is daunting. All I know is that it will take more cooperation and more time to realize Dr. King's dream. My parents said they would be supportive of my dating out of my race, but I haven't tested it yet. The mere fact that I felt I should aks first just goes to show we are from different generations. Great site. Thanks for all you do. |

I was born unto White parents, clearly privileged. They have a SUV, an inground pool and a time share. This is how I grew up. This is how I got by. When I went to college, I thought a lot about the disparity between the Minority ratio there VS the rest of Miami. Unbelievable. So I tried to transfer to SUNY but my grades suffered because it was also during my party years. After graduation, I was given a sales position. Once again, I was surrounded by Whites. I made friends with a Team Member who told me she even tried giving her job to her African American friend. But our boss wouldn't allow it. Now I know I am part of the machine my Ancestors created. What should I do? My parents said they would support me. I don't want to take jobs away from the Latinos who are part of a new influx. I want to help, maybe as a volunteer, or an intern. My parents make enougvh money from their Plantation to support me. Is their a seminar I can attend? |

I remember getting a hard time at work. They said it wasn't on account of my color. But none the less, I graduated Haverford (not to be confused with Harvard) at 20, then didn't continue. My boss continued to press on me about social skills, education and cleanliness. I was without a leg to stand on. To this day, he have a John McCain Bumper Sticker. Fortunately, my Aunt Helen, from HR, was able to implement Sensitivity Training. Well, it back fired. He accused my Aunt of Stealing. For real? I never told anyone this, but my boss had black-n-white inapproriate vhs tapes in his car. What did my aunt have? Company pens and stationary. Meanwhile, he's the hypocrite. Anyway, after she lost her job and had to go on unemployment, my boss started really pushing things. I wasn't even ten minutes late to work and he made me brush the snow off the loading dock. I think he planned it that way. He obviously he didn't attend the Race To Eachother seminar. Probably sat in his office on the phone the whole time. We need a break. We need real people to align and reeducate him. I am so glad I found this site. |

I am currently ironing out an AntiRacist Racial Cleansing 12-step program. It's something I started over the summer between semesters in the continuing battle against WHITE PRIVILEGE. Now that it's in the testing phase, I have enrolled two candidates: my whit parents, who grew up with an abundance of racism. They are no longer in the denial stage and are finally coming to grips with the fact that everything they have achieved has been due to unfair advantage. I am very proud of them. It will take months, perhaps years, for the full effect of the racial cleansing to be realized. The final solution, of course, is reparations. The program requires they reach out to Minority communities and donate the proceeds of their Possession Liquidation to empower the ones they've basically stolen from. This is a test, and the program may need some modifications. I welcome any and all feedback. Keep up the good work!! |

I would like to conduct interviews with White people who have self-examined their own White privilege and racism. My thesis is asking the question, "How have White people who have examined their White racism and privilege come to that process of reflection and more importantly how has it changed over time." I know what it's like to be homeless. I bounced around from terminal to terminal at the FLL Airport after losing everything in the Sectoral Diversification of Argentine Banks. There, I met some great people. They told me about a marina where I could find some others down on there luck. I got involved with some good folks who took me under their wing and de-mythed a lot of things about racism. They taught me how to access unattended yachts, of course owned by the privileged. They always put things back the way they find it and if they do take something, it's only what they need to make it through the day. We have a real camaraderie there, and they taught me just how awful minorities have it. They do what they can to survive, cooking on the stoves in the yachts, taking care to put everything back as if it were never touched. A real sense of decency. We must fight racism wherever we see it. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a yacht or even a home. I feel lucky that I can sit on my computer at home now, which is why I got involved with the Internet Access for the Homeless (IAH) to combat the societal problems of racism. |

I was struggling, and the Power Company shut off my power for about a week and no air conditioning. My Altima was repo'd. The real problems started when my lease was up. I didn't even get my security back. I was forced to leave behind my table, my flat screen and anything else that didn't fit in my Grandfather's pickup. And you mean to tell me Racism had nothing to do with ANY of it? Yeah,man. We do still have a long way to go. I'm vindicated that there is this Alliance to educate the masses. |

Recently, I brought an issue up to the Dean of Social Services at my college. Our college brochure depicted two whites (although one could be Native American), an African American Female and not one single Asian. Thankfully, I was told that they will be working toward changing that. | Comments: | I struggled my whole life and I'm 27 now. I grew up without advantages so my Parents couldn't afford a private tutor but, I stayed in school and I got a scholarship. My father was out of work during my teenage years and my brother Scott fell into a gang. My mother couldn't take it so I was raised by my older sister. When I was in college, I had to work on Christmas Break because they wouldn't pay for my books. I had to work at a diner mopping the floor because no one else would hire me. I almost didn't graduate but a teacher who liked me understood so she passed me so I could get my GPA up. Now because of the Economy, I am still struggling. This should not be, in the land of plenty. We still have a ways to go. |

No one can tell me they know what it's like to look different from everyone else in the room until they've been through it as I have. Countless times I have watched jobs go to other people who were the "right" type. Meanwhile, my skin looks different than the skin of the vast number of employees. People have criticized my jeans, my sneakers and the fact that my hair isn't straight. Just because I was born white doesn't mean it was my choice. My name is Avery Domingo (I go by my middle name, don't let the James in my e-mail address throw you off). I'm the Coordinator of the Student Diversity Committee at SUNY Purchase College. I'm a multi-racial student of color and a Sociology major with a concentration in Critical Race Studies and Community Organization. In respect to various reasons I am about to describe below and various other reasons that would be beautiful to discuss more extensively about in person, myself and a coalition of students (both nonwhite and white) would love to possibly collaborate with your organization by installing a series of Anti-Racist Workshops at SUNY Purchase College that will help to address, deconstruct and ultimately destroy institutional racism and general racist ideology embedded in the Purchase College community. Our office of Student Life is in full support and would love to help aid in this effort in any way possible. This includes providing funding and compensation. I've already contacted and sent an almost identical e-mail Racism continues to be an ongoing issue at SUNY Purchase which is populated and quite so dominated by a white majority in both the student body and the administration. For this reason, issues of race become very much marginalized. From experience, this is not to due to a conscious hatred of people of color in the community. Rather its due to internalized racist ideologies and notions of privilege inherent in much of our school's population. We've had a notable number of issues with blackface, racist remarks, and imagery in the school's recent history, all of which have been explained away and left to be forgotten. Administrative acton is always luke warm toward these particular happenings and the larger issue is never quite addressed with any effectiveness. Students of color (including myself) have encountered and continue to encounter various manifestations of racist ideology on the individual level. These encounters usually wear the mask of "humor," tend to include include off-hand racist jokes and remarks that uphold racial stereotypes. If taken as offensive and addressed, they are usually defended by "It's a joke" explanations or claims that the student who feels offended is "racist" for caring too much about race. How ironic. Diversity is also quite an issue. While we are a school of a diverse array of personalities, talents, and ethnicities, as mentioned before, the population by majority is white. This has left the campus with a dominant culture that very often leaves the various cultures of color in the community feeling under-privileged and underrepresented in campus life and events. This leads to quite a bit of segregation in the student body. While cultural clubs such as SOCA (Students of Carribbean Ancestry), O.A.P.I.A. (Organization of Afrikan Peoples in America) and L.U. (Latinos Unidos) have a strong presence in campus life and put on events that inherently cater to the students of color in the community, they are usually attended exclusively by students of color. While this helps us (students of color) have a stronger sense of belonging on campus, it doesn't help to bridge any of the gaps discussed. In all honesty, this e-mail could go on for quite a long time, as mentioned before. Rather than drown you with all the detailed highlights of racism on campus, I feel it would be more constructive to hopefully continue conversation about these matters in a different format with more students whom have their own experiences to share present. | Comments: | I would like to report on abuse of authority in polish customs office. Asians, especially Vietnamese people are notoriously singled out at polish airports - mainly in Warsaw and Cracow, as they are an easy source of backhander for customs officers. I know personally many people who were stopped by customs officers every time they landed at Okecie airport, and had her luggage examined thoroughly by officers who - as they have frankly admitted - were searching for some valuables, pretty things or souvenirs that could be commandeered ( meaning kept for themselves as a spoil). Those people were stopped just because of the color of their skin. I have also witnessed the special treatment of polish customs officers. As I arrived at Okecie airport in Warsaw, I was instantly stopped by a officer. I ended up being examined by 8 oficers, who were looking for things that they could charge me for, ie drugs or illegal chemical substance. As a result they were studying every single thing that I had in my luggage, starting from my clothes, ending on my souvenirs ( a wooden turtle which was obviously empty inside - it made no sound when shaken, but the officer still claimed it had drugs hiden within). After 3 hours of compulsorily spending time with those 8 officers, who didn't get reason to get a backhand, they let me go, claiming that they "can't stand even looking at those yellow creatures any more". At polish customs Asians, particularly Vietnamese like poeple of the second category. It is a well-knonw fact amongst Vietnamese minority living in Poland that every Vietnamese are singled out every time they arrive at Okecie and asked for bribe ( quotation "you can avoid 3 hours of examination but it will cost you $100" ). Polish officers enforce backhand on Vietnamese residents in Poland.
I know a case of a 70-year-old woman who had to give backhand to polish customs officer because she had an acute heart pain (she has heart disease), but the oficer wouldn't let her go unless she paid him, so she had no choice as she was close to fainting. This is the sad reality of polish customs I wanted you to be aware of whilst sending your employees of asian descent to Poland. |

I am a young, gay, black man who has made a life choice to fight racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, transphobia and any other institutionalized form of systematic hatred that deprives people from an actual and equal opportunity in this society. I serve on the board of both the black law student association and the pride law association and am an active member of women’s law, public interest foundation, and the national lawyers guild amongst other organizations. I write to ask for a number of areas where I believe you could either help or forward those who you know are willing to help. WE need to have conversations at our law school and community that expand the typical lawyers viewpoints and that causes tomorrows lawyers to have opened eyes about this system. My name is Anneth and I am definitely agaisnt racism. I wanted to let you guys know about a website i came upon which is totally anti non-white and anti gay rights aswell. This website is called stormfront.org. I have read wuite a few of their forums and they are only interested in 100% european white people. They consider blacks and hispanics as beasts that came from apes and they are against jews. And they held a poll on whether they thought that Hitler was good or bad and around 70% of them approved of Hitler. I think people need to be aware of such ignorant, narrow-minded groups. I think people should take a look at this website and see what white nation and national socialists are all about.
