Comments:Thanks for the technical tips. You aren't alone in wondering what some people were doing in English class! My pet peeve is sentence fragments. I use them for emphasis, and quite often, but to write that way? It makes me afraid their brain works the same way and that's a very scary thought. Very, very scary.

I also like Stephen King's "On Writing". I think it's a very good and informative read on the craft of writing and the psyche and development of the author. His major irritants are the overuse of adverbs and dialogue attribution.

Ive been reading slash fiction- my intro to fanfic- for
about 18 months now. Though published in real life, I wish
id discovered it sooner, as the best slash fiction is like
a masterclass in writing, literary and otherwise.
I like both the Sentinel fiction (more please!) and the
info for writers. And as for the language - Old English,
Latin, fascinating.

Thank you very much

Yinka

Comments:Wow! Great writing tutorial! Points out so many of the
things I see in fanfic, but am too sensitive (or lazy) to
tell the author about. I'll be keeping those things in mind
for my own stories too -- heaven knows they're not
Shakespeare (yet!).

'Three Day Pass'. It was just... perfect. The pairing, the
way they handled everything, stayed true to MASH, in my
opinion. I've read it several times and still laugh (and
squirm). Thank you for a wonderful peice.

Comments:Love the kftlc fic page, the short kftlc fic page, the way
too short kflc fic page, the way too short hasn't been
added to in awhile kftlc fic page ...

Disagree major with your comment that I have to post good
fanfic to my site simply because you spend 3/4ths of your
paycheque going online:

1. I can't be held responsible for your employer not giving
you a decently sized paycheque each week.

2. Ditto for the ursurous ISP you currently subscribe to,
the company who manufactured your pc, the company who sold
the pc to you, and the paper company who produced the paper
you print the stories onto.

3. I'm not CAPABLE of writing DECENT fanfic, let alone GOOD
fanfic. Too many damned rules, and every time I turn
around, someone's adding to the freakin' list. And
everyone seems to have a different take on what good fanfic
is. How's a gal supposed to keep up on what good fanfic
is?

Content at my site is determined by me. I'm the editor,
the author, and the illustrator. You're just the poor
hapless sucker who willingly wandered on in.

*g*

Alicia.

Comments:Great page! I haven't read any of the fic because you
don't write in any of my fandoms, so I can't comment on
that. But I love your essays and your grammar guide is the
absolute best I have found in the slash world. So many of
the grammar guides that people put on their pages, while
supposedly intended to be helpful, come off as snarky.
Sorry, but I'm not about to listen to someone whose tone is
basically 'I'm so much better than everyone else' - even if
they are. Yours comes off funny, intelligent, and just
plain helpful. Write some more essays, would 'ya?
