I can never forget how epic the final episode was when the Orbots fought their way into the middle of the Shadowstar to confront Umbra on his homeground. For this to happen in a cartoon series was unfathomable to my young mind and left quite an impression on me (because how many times does the bad guy ALWAYS run away to fight another day amirite?)
Too bad it went off the air after such a short run but it burned VERY bright during it's time. They just DON'T air cartoons of this quality for kids anymore. |

Thank you for putting up this website! I absolutely loved this cartoon when it was on the air, and I think I saw just about every episode. Watching the few eps on YouTube was definitely a trip down memory lane. My hat's off to you for keeping the flame lit in the fires of late, great 80's shows! |

Like everyone else, I'd love to see Mighty Orbots get a proper legit release on DVD, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. I'm one of the lucky ones that got the bootleg dvd with not so nice quality. Recently I found another location that sells similar bootleg dvd's, this place had it as a 3 disc set. So now I own a version with all 13 episodes on 1 disc (very bad quality), and another 3 disc set with mediocre quality (as far as bootlegs go). Lightyears away from the least-cells-possible technique of animation that came into vogue at that time. Truly unique. As you point out, a rare hybrid of American & Japanese styles.

I was just a wee 'un back when it came out and as such I could never recall the title to the show. "You're just thinking of Voltron.", they'd say. Keh. I remember absolutely loving this series (although I'd sworn there were more episodes); the closest I ever got to owning it for myself was seeing a VHS of 3 shows while I was stationed in the UK. Now, I am back on the collection run (4 of the 6 offered by MGM, plus a dub of the "Leviathan" episode - thanks to *you know who*).
