I am now a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders, where we (always at the request of the family) stand respectfully at the funerals of fallen Soldiers, deceased Veterans, as well as provide welcome home celebrations, etc. I am proud to call you 'sister' as we are both United States Army. I want to thank you for giving me a window (one of many) into your units tour in Iraq. Of all the comments in the most memorable section that struck me was the purple finger comment. I watched the local news during elections, and was drawn to tears at what they were willing to do in order to vote as compared to the laxidasical attitude of our own citizens. I aplaude you for your service. Mine was Vietnam and too many posts over the years to mention although the highlites were drill sergeant B 3 1 Ft Jackson with first female trainees done outside of Ft Rucker Alabama and then Fort Irwin Ca. I was NCOIC OPFOR section of C Detachment 203rd MI. We put together many of the static displays used there had all the real RED equipment ran the training range for RED weapons received the most comments for the RPG range, and ran the infiltration units. In all my service time what confuses me most and I search for answers for is WHY??? have we armed the IRAQ forces with WARSAW PACT weapons and then intigrated them with our forces. After all they do have a distinctive sound so how do you know bad from good? Are you still in the LA Guard, and would you be willing to go back again?? Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!! I have a young lady at church who is a dear friend that did a tour in Bosnia and Iraq with the Guard as an MP. After many long talks I know the sacrifice all our men and women and their families have given. My son is in Bahrain with the SEALS and is in and out of Iraq/Afganistan. He is due home in Oct.
