| Comments: | hi everyone there, manipuri vis a vis bishnupriya manipuri is a subject that requires senior, committed academicians to discuss. not a streetsmart one can help establish true identity of either the meiteis or the bishnupriyas. please have some more reading and patience. in my opinion this is the silliest and most mindless argument going on for centuries. there's nothing more than blind vanity and feudalism at the root of all this. there was one king bhagyachandra whose efforts bound the two sections of peoples in one cultural tie. it would be wise on parts to honour that saintly king by not quarrelling over who the real manipuris are. bishnupriyas are the subdued section. they may perish in future. but this does not mean that meiteis can rest assured that they're invincible. they too should learn to read the signs. pride can only lead to destruction. most meiteis, it seems, are unaware of this simple truth of life.we share the same culture. a meitei ima evokes the same affection in a bishnupriya man and a bishnupriya ima evokes the same in a meitei man. i like to mention one curious fact here: gokulananda, the pioneer of bishnupriya resurgence had once severely beaten a non-manipuri trader for ill-behaving with a meitei ima. give this a thought. love, accomodation and unity are strength for survival. hatred, pride and rejection are surefire ways of weakening oneself. one who hasn't seen villages where meiteis and bishnupriyas live as one people can make a mindless comment in total disregard of those residing in distant areas of assam or tripira where seperation between bsnpryas and meiteis meant their extinction. i invite the proud lot to witness those people who, due to the seperation initiated by mindless people, are struggling a losing battle to preserve their socio-cultural identities. despite so many languages nagas are one people. why not manipuris? i don't want to put the blame squarely on one section. both sections, blinded by a meaningless pride, are putting their own tails on fire. please, it's time we matured. shreplikna 24 7 07 |

If you are writing about Bishnupriyas, you should do in a correct way instead of saying Bishnurpiyas live in Manipur. Because they defintely do now. if you cannot even right the demographic facts of the present day right, then think about how you can make people those things you have said without any anthropological/archeaological/historical proof. The least you can do is to first make sure about whom you are writing about. Bishnupriyas are Bishnupriyas, and meiteis are meiteis. they do not have the same language, looks or culture. |

Well, there is no denying to the fact that there are problems and tensions in the state, mostly due to stupid Governmental Policies and Practises, but one can also not say that Manipur is NOT a part of India, for this beautiful state really is one of the gem of our country. And when the gem begins to get scratches, it shud b the government's first duty to address all the problems and come out with solutions. Sadly, just as in every other matter, our Govt is sleepily working. However, the people of Manipur know well, how to wake it up and they ve certainly made a lot of difference. Actually,I have been worshing the natural objects and deeply think and pray while every festivals comes, I keep picture of godess Panthoibee and Ibudou Pakhanba in my room which people used to ask about such picture and they come to know something about my religion. whereas I nee is I like a Prayer location in Delhi with all things we need in prayer base on sanamahism and meetei traditional. What I like make a revolutionary change is throught our right to freedom of religion as we have been supress by other dominant religion since 1709A.D. At present every meetei and hill peoples who follows this religion wnt to preserved or have a Laisang(prayers home), sanglen in main cities of the India. Otherwise we will have certain lose in our meditations and peace. without any prayer during the outsation is very difficult so, I think we nee a space and prayer home in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata,Etc. in India. USA, THailand, Canda, Europe only then we can get our identity and metally peace when every every one us go ouside. please suggest this onwards to me and think better if so we can ask to PM of India within few weeks long. There ought to be no doubt about this, if we really study shastra sincerely. Recently I visited Himalayas, and there the buddhist refugee's place called Dharamsala. It was a fascinating visit, but being not a buddhist myself, I began to long for seeing the age-old and original Vaishnavism and spirituality manifest in Manipur - which could be a real source of inspiration for present-day Vaishnavas. I have heard about it, from some devotees, and it really sounds inspiring, being myself born in Europe, where Krishna-bhakti is still quite unknown, although some interest is beginning to awaken. Can somebody inform me, what things one should pay attention to, in order to have a peaceful and culturally rewarding visit to the Jewel like Land ? Most of India is spiritually in a way uplifting, but I've never succeeded to travel further North-East India than upto Assam and Meghalaya only. Manipuri art is very sublime; once there was a beautiful performance in West-Bengal, at Navadvipa Dhama, and it really touches the heart and soul of the audience through pure bhakti. | Comments: | It was in the month of July 2003, I was returning home from my University after 2 years of gap with a friend from Lamshang. we catched the train by 4.30 a.m in the morning from Old Delhi Station as the train had late for 11hr.I traveled in the sleeper clast as we didn,t have too much money for the jouney ,at the evening of that Day around 4.pm hundreds of sainasee or religious safrond dress people with ladies and all male of all ages, loughtly souted BOL BHUM, BOL BaM in their mouth , and wether they have teckets in hand or not they have already sat all the sit and also there was no space at all to go upto toilet,lot of sweats,sound,taesing to the girls,teasy the boys from NE, If someone said to stop for a few minute as we din,t relaxed more, they souted BOl Bhum, BOL BHUM, like anything ,beyond the human decibles. most of the real passengers got angree but what could we do as we were few in numbers. Its almost 8 pm we wished to have dinner even they were not ready to gave a samll space for having meal more they souted and made tighter space ,we feeled like anything ,beside that few gals from Nagaland sat and they start chasing about those people who didn,t gave a single space to do dinner. Most of the safron yourh looked eagerly to girls and teasing with leud words. Even I Kick down a sadhu as they tried to slit my thoght neck. and they start dumka and sounded typical local voice to chanting us. its was almost 12.30 mid night we feeled sleepy and askek to get downd from our sit ,even they got more angree and souted BOL BHUM BOL BHUM for continuesly upto 3 hr. and get tighter our space and we feeled the extreme, they were not act like human being ,they act like the animal the beast,even though they have safron colour in the body and BOL BHUM IN the mouth. so we were almost out of control and start fired from our mouth that , konsa bagawan hain kee humko parisan karne ke liye etana sadhu ko bheja yaha, Kya prathana liye honge kee humloko etana parisan kar rahein hain. like such words are from every body who really had ticket. by the last our around 4.30am near Patana station all those shadhu got down, without giving any preferace to old lady young ladies among them the male tried to move first and ladies got fall injured, they were also sadhu but this male shadu are gundas like they never thinked of them. Just male sadhuswas supposed to get down first. these is the situation in our country happening, our shadu our hindu. Sadhu can move free of cost and can give threaten to the ordinary passengers if they like .they harass the people who travel inside the train who with Tickets.Just after they got down we were free and freshed up. That was the nice experience from the Shadu in my life. They comment many galis and all. even those lady sahdu support the male shadu to tease the girls of North East. I mean I never want to make any communal harm but it was the unlawfull which those sadhus were doing. After that we were talking about this shadus bad treatment to us upto Guwahati. Next morning i reached guwahati and ctatched a bus for my home town Imphal, By the way when we croosed the Nagaland at night we had stop for freshing and toilets. our bus glases got broken by the local people who never want to stop in thier locality. as we travel we reased Sekmai, the starting point of Manipur Valley , Indian army start frisking our body and try to open our lugauge and bags even thought we told that we are student, all inside the bag is books and cloths we reply. they start bitten up and said you beast you are the only problem makers. then I saw my ID cards to them and said I am a Ph.D student we never think of your attitude to me. its very worse what you were acting on us,its not like human sence,plaese don,t bit us we are student souted many time but more they bit us, at last the captain came out and say to stop beating us. and he asked few quetion in HIndi and I start reply in english to said that what ever i felt as thier nature of checking was not unlawfull. I said If I belong to your same place like Bihar or U.P you woun,t bit me, We are like animals in your eye isn, it. I said .Captain you are only graduate I have more qualification then you and I know more than what you know, then he keep quite and stop me to gave my speech as it was in front of the people of that locality. And they say it was their duty to check and say sorry to us, and left us. so we face two bad incident which only made by the Indain Army and Indian shadu , whom they never love us whom they never think of our lively hood . so my jouney was so unlucky, after such a long back home.I start loving my state only as most of the mainstream people doesn,t like us.so I like to love my religion(sanamahism and my language )which never distrub to others and my men who never harass to ousiders. so think better life is once, you may face this kind of jouney in the near future. |
