We couldn't find the Brazilian Rosewood so we went with the Madagascar Rosewood and absolutely Zero sound was compromised in this tonewood. I am extremely happy. This man has the utmost tenacity and fine craftsmanship abilities in building the best guitar around for the money. It won't be long and there will be a huge waiting list for him to build someone a great guitar. | Comments: | Saw you guys here in Lincoln, NE last year. Found your past recent CD at Colorado Folk Music store last winter. I enjoyed the session where Audie picked for the Nebraska Bluegrass workshop. Not many bluegrass pickers here in Lincoln(or what I call real bluegrass...I'm form Alabama.Mississippi area originally and have been in Lincoln for 9 years..perhaps too long!!) I played guitar and sang lead for Tupelo Grass in the late 90's. Have a wonderful 1969 D-35 that I purchased at Gruhn in nashville, I played 30 guitars and this one blew all the D-28's away (that particular day) and I shelled out the money for it and love it more then may ex-wife!! HA!! Just a one of a kind sound, like you mentioned Audie, not all guitars are the same, Mine has Brazilian and boy does it make me cry! LOVE IT> And I can actually play better now that I've gotten a quality guitar. You guys really inspire me. I LOVE to sing lead and high harmony as well. I have a nice home stidio now with a AKG 414 and a set of A'esis powered nearfield monitors. I use my new Mac and LOGIC and a M Audio 610 to lay down tracks, it is just an awesome setup. I write country and have recorded a CD in Nashville years ago. But my heart is grounded in bluegrass. You guys are the best in my book. Audie, just love you voice. I could hold my own with you and would just be tickled to sing with you someday , perhaps backstage somewhere. Hope you guys liked Lincoln, great folks here but they are different then the good ole down home folks in the south. Saw you new CD here and got it one the way, will love to share it with others. The cl;ips are nice, really fresh and pristine recordings, you must be doing it yourself or able to have more imput and control over the tracking and mix, it is really up there. I listen to R. Skaggs but they focus on playing too fast and sowing off, i love him but you guys are my favorites now. Wish all tyou guys the very best and safe travlin' on your tours. I don't know when this episode was filmed but I did want to tell you how good I thought your band was.....especially the boy that was playing the mandolin and singing some tenor to you. It must have been a strange venue to play, I think I was the only other American in the hall (expatriate, living in Netherlands 12 years, on the other side of the country from Niewkoop). It was a real treat to hear a hot, hot band. I had already bought and enjoyed the Redline CD, in person you did not disappoint!! I especially was impressed by your vocal dynamics around the single mike, also the bobbing and weaving Flatt & Scruggs style. Fantastic harmonies!! and powerful singing all around. I was also impressed with the electric bass, it sounded completely acoustic (like an acoustic bass mike'd up) and fit well in the balance. I'll definitely go see you whenever you're in striking distance. |
