I still use my gimbled Primus kerosine stove(got it in 67) at the boat for the past 30 years and my Optimus 80 just refilled it for another backpack season. Bought it in 69 and still works great.

Keep up the collection.

we are the third generation dealing in these type of traditional products, brass pressure stoves, burners, blow torches, lantern parts,

our grand father was in imports of primus, petromax brand products to india from 1956 for 2 decades
my father was in manufacturing of these products for 2 decades and
we are the third generation continuing to export and trade in these products with oppurtunity to manufacture some of the popular brands like Primus, Hipolito, Butterfly, Hippo,
Rhino, Zepplin, etc for the south african and the far east markets since 2 decades

so if your are search of these products you are most welcome to mail on the pmi3@mtnl.net.in

Man, what a nice site you two boys have! I love to collect these old lanterns but I have problems getting them in the USA. We just don't have that many here we can choose from. We have lots of Coleman Laterns, but not much else. I think the Petromax lanterns are really good looking. If you know where I can get a Little Baby Petromax 900 with most of the parts and maybe the box, I would sure appreciate it. Keep up the good work!! I'm retired (age 64 yr) but this hobby seems to encompass all ages.

Comments:Hello,

You wrote on your Pictures page:
"This is a Hasag, but we don't know what model. On the top nut are the numbers "58/363/1002"."

I have a similar one, it has just the same stamped HASAG logo in the side of the tank, and "58/363/1002" and also "DDR 10" on the top nut. So I think the lamp is actually an East German MEWA product from the early post-war years, perhaps stamped on purpose with more familiar HASAG brand for export market even though the HASAG company ceased to exist after the war.

Comments:Nice page - very informative. The yellow or amber globe on your Coleman 220J is to inhibit insect attraction. In America, insects are a very big nuisance at night in the summer. While they are attacted to the bright white light of a Coleman Lantern, most of them to not seem to be attracted to the amber light. We also use amber lightbulbs at the front door of our house for the same reason. I don't know how well this works on the Lantern, but it works very well on the home. I have a small collection of Coleman's.

I would like to know where I could get instructions on their use, care and maintenance of these lamps. Specifically, how to properly pre-heat, light and clean them. Any help would be appreciated.

Recently a friend and I have started collecting pressures,Mostly Vapalux and one or two Tilleys and a Coleman. We also have one or two nice " Primus" stoves, with tins. Recently had a power cut so were able to bring some of them into operation. My wife said it was completely unecessary to light them all~ They do not understand
Best wishes, Joe M.

I have an old blowlamp for paint removal that presumably used the same fuel.
Found it in a flea-market in Italy.
I hope you find new things to show because I look forward to revisiting your site

Comments:very nice website. wonderful subject. I have used Coleman Model 152 with dishpan reflector to gig flounders and find soft crabs in the Mississippi Sound/Gulf of Mexico at low tide. Have spent many summer evenings wading in shin deep water listening to the hiss and watching the parade of sea life. No light like it in the world.

Annars är jag som sagt en glad amatörsamlare som tycker om stormlyktor i alla olika modeller.

discovered a passion for Pressure lamps by watching her

few pounds at car boot sales and turning them into working
works of art? Yes I search out discarded lamps and heaters
now and search the net for as many web sites as I can find.
Keep up the good work as we are all only temporary

after entering "Gasoline Lantern" in the Google search
engine. We have electricity too in Oregon, but sometimes it
goes off, and I want to have an alternate source of light
when that happens. I have a couple of "Aladdin" mantle
lamps and various gas and gasoline lanterns. I don't really
collect them, but I find them interesting and I accumulate
them.
