Comments:your site is very informative, i used it while i built a JS busker organ late 2009 I intend to build a Walter Hoffle 20 note organ but want to change parts to play JS 20note rolls, the Hoffle organ has 4 ranks of melody pipes plus bass, with four slides it should be louder than the JS.I have plans for JS Topsy 3 ,but i"m not sure it is time yet to build it, as i want to wait until other builders have built it and leave info on the net.Regards Derek Stallwood

often I look to your home page. It was one of my first information, when I started a new projekt: building a mechanical organ.

In the meanwhile I finished my work (I need about one year). So I invite you to have a look on my homepage http://uli.stille.biz . There you can find some fotos and some hints. But sorry, it is in geman language. Sometimes one picture illustrates more then 1000 words...

Great site! I have a John Smith senior 20 note, built by JS himself. He currently is building a little busker as well.

I made over 50 titles for the 20 note scale, in midi format. I can send you some samples if you are interested.

Comments:Hi Peter, Great site.
I'm just starting to build a JS 20 note.
I'm also getting into designing a computerized paper punch. After it's completed I'll post plans probably for free.

Many years ago I worked for a printer operating a letterpress. On the platen of the press we used a type of paper called "Tympan Paper", it came in large heavy rolls and it even looks similar to some of the piano rolls I've seen. You might want to check it out.

Comments:I find your site most helpful, particularly the alternative scales suggested. The .gam file identified was also essential to my future needs for paper roll music.

Do you know where MIDI files in the appropriate keys and limited to the 20 notes of the John Smith organ can be found; having no musical background is a considerable hanicap.

First, a good "Plastic Paper" you wondered about in your article woukd be Mylar Drafting "Paper" found in most drafting supplies shop. It does come in wide rolls, but could be sliced down to the right width.

Second, I am just starting in organ building and playing, and find you site and tips the best.

Thirdly, where can I get punched test rolls and music (prepunched)?
