| Comments: | I just read your review of Ferrera's Fear City (1984) and I bow to your thoroughness and knowledge.
I've subsequently had a look around and seen just how great a site this is. I'll be back regularly! Anyway, I've got an inquiry: Was a soundtrack CD for Fear City ever released? I can't find any info online to confirm that, so I'm guessing not. I really like the opening number ("New York Doll" by David Johansen, as you mentioned - that's the only song I really want to acquire) and sure, it's freely viewable on YouTube; but that's in degraded mono and crossfades to the urban ambience before finishing. I want an isolated stereo HD cut, if it exists. While writing this it has occurred to me that I could instead track down Johansen's "Sweet Revenge" album from that period, which also seems a bit elusive. So maybe I've answered my own question and wasted your time. But any thoughts? Now I'm off to read your review of Brian dePalma's Body Double. I'll bet it's on here somewhere; your taste is too impeccable to overlook it! |

I've been trying to find and get all the nasties for years and now have quite a decent collection of pre-cert, various releases on vhs, betamax and dvd. I've been interested in the whole "nasties" controversy for years, being an avid horror fan since childhood. I was only 5 in 1982 when it all kicked off but have vivid memories of video stores, news programs on Good Morning Britain...lol, and newspapers, and my dad telling me that he's not renting me certain tapes i would ask him to hire ('Zombie Flesh Eaters' (Vipcos Strong Uncut Version)was one i remember asking for and he did hire it after me moaning and i was told he'd watch it first to see if i might get to watch it..the answer was NO! Well i was 5 or 6 years old) and looking at the horror section and its the lurid artwork which gave me many lasting images in my head. Before dvd it was such a buzz to get hold of a nasty via 2nd hand stores, bootlegs and 3rd, 4th 5th,1000th generation copies of 'Evil Dead', 'Texas Chainsaw', T'he Exorcist', 'I Spit On Your Grave' and 'Cannibal Holocaust', although those titles lived up to and surpassed most expectations many of the others on the list left me feeling let down. But i still actively look for the odd pre-cert tape just to add it to the rest. After many years i managed to track down an old pre-cert of 'The Burning' with a date stamped on the label of the tape with November 1982 meaning it was the edited version just so i could have the cut and uncut versions..lol. With dvd and ordering many uncut nasties from the U.S it was such a buzz to rip open the packaging when 'Texas Chainsaw 2' arrived and the Uncut 'Zombi'...i hate that title and much prefer the UK's 'Zombie Flesh Eaters'. But im sure you'll know what i mean, sorry for rambling but i felt i had to sign your guestbook. Anyway i'm well impressed with your work on this site and glad to have found it while surfing the web, keep up the great work ! |

I was a showgirl in Las Vegas at the Dunes in Casino de Paris, went to Chicago for a las Vegas review and then to Beirut and Paris. Ya know that dvd of the Fanatic that was released here in 2003 ( its in your nasties section ) well it was trimmed and wasnt uncut like you said. Some of the scenes of the granny plucking and scranning the eye are gone. Hey its no biggy though. You still the beareded big daddy. Great site mate . |
