Their harmonizing was great, the music always uplifting and I recently heard a song by Barbara Cowsill in which she sang: Where is Love?---She really had a beautiful voice and how cool was it that their mom could be in the band? When I hear Indian Lake, Hair, etc. it flashes me back into the past all with great memories. |

I am 54 now and still enjoy their Music. As a Bass Player I loved the Bass cover in "SILVER THREADS AND GOLDEN NEEDLES". In fact I loved the way they did the whole song, it is one of my very Favorites. I think Barry played the Bass in it and I just now read of his Death and I am so sorry to read about that. Yes they should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. |

| Comments: | I was in the Navy(hospital side) in Newport, Rhode Island from 1964-1966. during that time when I had Fri., Sat. and Sun. nites off I would go to the Rathskellar, in the basement of the Newport Hotel and listen to this family sing Folk, Rock and they were really good! A few times I was able to play tambourine with them on stage especially when they did their Beatles songs( I was/am a drummer)
They made me feel very comfortable and a part of the group. It's one of my great memories of The Cowsills. |

I'm sorry this is not a 'happy memory' note, but as someone who grew up in Newport with the Cowsills, and having them a part of my life, I need to express myself: May Barry rest in peace, he was a gentle soul, and a loving human being. Heal my friend, and come back stronger than ever. May God and Love carry you through to the other side for Peace and healing. Condolences to the Cowsill family, all of you are always in our (The Lewis Family's) hearts, thoughts, and prayers, and John.. it was great to see you recently, and I know you knew Barry had passed even then... it's very hard losing a brother, as I have been there. I'm happy I had gotten to meet and hang out with Barry on his trip to Florida in the early 80s, he sang so well, he blew my mind... He certainly needed no mic with that power in his voice!
