Been living in Delray Beach, Fl for years now and there is nothing here that comes close. Will be passing thru East LA the last week of January and plan to stop in for sure. Peace to all. |

| Comments: | I moved away from Lansing/East Lansing eight years ago. But I fondly remember my times in the seventies and eighties, hanging out at Beggar's Banquet.
I just happened by while doing some Net research, and I'm glad you're still in business. I hope to god you haven't gotten rid of the great stained glass windows and wooden booths. And I hope the food's as great now as it was then. Moira Manion "Marketplace" Commentator American Public Media/Minnesota Public Radio |

| Comments: | hello freinds-
i was just cruising around the internet to check up on some good memories. The class of '96 &'97 was fun as hell, where the wine nights soared and Todd kept telling me to turn down the music. Patrick was the man, Jerome was in his trance, and the chili was 9.5! I am in Los Angeles, working with Yahoo! -- i am engaged to the most gorgious Emi Deguchi...we will be married next June. I hope everyone is well, and give Bob a big hug from me! love, jonny no problems |

| Comments: | I was recently back in E. Lansing after a long hiatus and was happy to see my favorite MSU haunt looking just as I remembered it, though the tradition of a mug of Stroh's and a bowl of chili seems to have vanished. My buddies Tim Innes and Sean Kavanagh virtually lived at BB in the late 70s/early 80s, and introducing my son Patrick to the special ambience of Beggars was a real treat. |

I now come to you nearly live, broadcasting in "smoke-ah-moke-ah-vision" from the Honeycomb Hideout (now long gone with the rest of the back alley, but still remembered) Am still in E. L. for those of you with a gumption to come and visit. Drop a line to the email above and let me know that your going to be around. We can meet in the Voo-Doo Lounge and tell tall tales of times long ago. ...Like back when Big Dave made the Quiche and Bill Ashley spent a whole shift juggling invisable fruit... Am still waiting for my Honorary Bartenders Plaque (seeing as I was the only Head Chef to ever Bartend once a year - that has got to mean something to someone) Am still waiting for someone to uncover the now long lost "Line Cooks Walk of Shame" plaque that I made out of the old barn wood from the Women's Bathroom in the back of the old "new" room. Just checked out the web site and pictures of the great fun we had in 1999. I sure do miss Beggar's and East Lansing. Relocated to Petoskey. Daryl is head chef at a restaurant called the Bear River Brewery. Getting married in July or August. The menu looks incredible as well as the web site. Give everyone a big hello!! Any info on how to reach Julio? How does he like it down south? Best wishes to Bob and Betty. Give Scotty from Rick's, Tom from the Land Shark, Elvis and the T Ross a big hug for me!! Miss you all! | Comments: | We sure enjoy remembering our beggars family and miss them
a lot. Beau has found gainful employment at a restaurant called O'Briens, bartending outside all day long on the banks of the Chicago River, but it's a far cry from beggar's banquet, he loves his new job, but misses his old friends. I'm completing the Illinois teacher certification process and am anticipating when I have my very own classroom of students. We can't wait to come and visit during the Folk Festival in August. See you all then! |

| Comments: | Proud Beggular 1975-79
So I move 2000 miles away to a barely-inhabited island off the coast of Texas and become a humble but happy sand sculptor. One day not too long ago I am chatting with my next-door neighbor - the successful attorney with a big house and well-manicured lawn - and what do I find out? He, too was a proud Beggular, 1975-79. (Is this where we all break into a heartwarming chorus of "It's a small small world"?) |
