I wrote an appreciation of your work on my blog, which you can read here: http://nick-caputo.blogspot.com/ I've also noted your contributions in my introduction to the Atlas Era Masterworks: Tales to Astonish Vol 4 (the monster stories). Hope you enjoy it, and it has always been a pleasure to speak with you at the New York Cons. you're one of the greats! Nick Caputo |

| Comments: | Dear Mr. Goldberg:
I have a technical question to ask you, that I doubt that anybody, except those personally involved in the process at the time could answer. I have a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. Were there any color proof comic books released in 1962? I know with original limited edition prints, artists and stdio proofs are common. I'm asking this because, every copy that I have seen of this book has the AMAZING headline in bright yellow. My copy has the yellow but in the AZIN letters only, there is an orange colour that appears airbrushed. This is in the actual printing - it hasn't been re-touched and it isn't acid damage. You can only get an orange by mixing a yellow and a red, so I'm wondering if you can shed any light on this for me. Thank you, Maureen Moll Canada |

| Comments: | Hi Stan,
I love your work! While working to ugrade Nick Simon's "Silver Age Marvel" website for 2-1/2 years (before the server yanked it down-- GRR) I saw TONS of your covers from the 60's. Whether it's doing romance & humor comics, or just COLORING work, you've done some amazing work over the years. I've spent more time than is probably sane "restoring" old covers, many of them with your coloring work, so younger fans who've never seen the originals can see what Marvel's REPRINTS keep missing. In fact, I just put up SUSPENSE #39-50 again at my blog. I hope you (and your fans) will check 'em out. |

I would like to say "Thank You" for both your past and continued contributions to the comic book industry. As a cartoonist myself, I have always been amazed at your ability to create both realistic and "funny" renditions. I now have 15 examples of your work in my personal collection and I am very proud to own each and every one of them. Most recently... the cover to Millie the Model Queen-Sized Special #9. | Comments: | Hi Stan,
I've been looking over my collection of Double Digests and vintage comic books, and I was curious about your earliest work for Archie in the sixties. I asked this since you and the late Al Hartley had somewhat similar styles in the sixties whilst working at Archie. I run a blog called Covered where I post artists re-interpreting existing comic covers in their own style. Last week I posted a Josie and the Pussycats cover (#72) but could not find who the original artist was. Someone posted in the comments section that they thought it was you. Was it? If so I'd like to give you the proper credit and link to your site. Here's a link to the cover in question: http://coveredblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/lauren-barnett-covers-josie-and.html Thanks a lot for your help, Rob Goodin |

| Comments: | Stan,
Greetings. My name is Mike Edholm. I am the current president of the North Central Chapter of the National Cartoonist Society, and a member of the planning committee of the Walt Disney Hometown Toonfest. For the past 11 years, the town of Marceline, Missouri has celebrated one of their favorite sons, Walt Disney, with the annual Walt Disney Hometown Toonfest (http://www.toonfest.net/) in September. One of the main attractions to the Toonfest is the presentations by celebrity cartoonists who come in and during the 2-day event share their experiences as a professional cartoonist with the public. This year, we would like to extend an invitation to you to come and be a part of the magic and be one of our celebrity speakers, September 17-18. You will be welcome to arrive on Thursday, September 16 for a cookout and meet & greet with the other participants and cartoonists of the Toonfest. And we will depart Sunday, September 19. Transportation will be provided and the Toonfest will pick up your transportation (airfare) and accommodations at the Uptown B&B in downtown Marceline. Your host will be Kaye Malins, director of the Toonfest. She and her family reside in the house that was the Disney Home during the time that Walt, Ruth, and Roy Disney were growing up in Marcline and where young Walt's imagination really began to take root. If you are curious about the reactions of other celebrity speakers of past years I would invite you to contact our fellow artists such as Wiley Miller (Non Sequitur), Sam Viviano (MAD Magazine), Jim Borgman (ZITS), Ann Telnaes (animation editorial cartoonist, Washington Post), Lynn Johnston (For Better Or For Worse), Pete Docter (PIXAR Animation), Tony Baxter (Walt Disney Company/Disneyland, Anaheim, CA), Alex Maher (Walt Disneyworld, Orlando, FL), Greg Evans (LuAnn), Dave Coverly (Speedbump), Chris Browne (Hagar, The Horrible), Tom Richmond, (MAD Magazine), Mike Peters (Mother Goose & Grimm), and the list goes on... Please consider this offer seriously, as we are seriously excited about the possibility of you being a part of the Toonfest Family of Cartoonists. Let me know if you would be available and interested. I will be happy to put you directly in contact with Kaye Malins to have your questions answered. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Edholm PS - Do you have another email address; as the one in the NCS directory isn't working (stan@highstream.net)? |

| Comments: | Dear Stan -- I visited The Museum of Comic Art in Manhattan this past weekend (the Archie art retrospective), and particularly enjoyed seeing the three "Archie Marries Veronica" covers beautifully framed and hanging on a museum wall, where they belong! Your work on the "Marriage" storyline exceeds everything you've done at Archie, capturing the poignancy and humor of the resolution to Archie's eternal (or not so eternal) triangle. Always looking forward to seeing more of your work. - Arthur Chertowsky |

I wanted to thank you for all the pleasure your work has brought me all these years. I have Archie books going back to the mid 70's I'll never get rid of because you captured such a special feeling of childhood not found today. I have a stack of Archie title digests I keep on my bookcase and when I need a pick me up I'll read thru them. It's amazing how the stories still make me smile and even laugh (tho I've read them in to the ground!) You've long been one of my favorite artists. I was fortunate to find your website. As I looked on the web I found very little about the past Archie classic artists such as yourself. Dan Decarlo is the only one who is well represented and I am sad to find that one of my other favorite artists-Sam Schwartz has so little info out there. I'm hoping to continue my detective work on Sam and one day create a tribute website to him and his amazing story-telling. It's a shame the work went uncredited for so many years for you wonderful creators who brought so much to us. Thank you so much for being part of my childhood and making the memories so special thru your talents. My very best wishes, Steve Goupil |
