Any proof such as a marriage license? Also, the house that

that there is no gulch 1000 feet from the house. More like
a cliff that drops in to the canyon. Anyway, neat web site.

Family history has them as being the stage/ferry operators at San Simon for a time. Michael took a "walkabout" and left his family, for what reason we know not. Sarah took her children and moved to New Mexico. She lived in various places in Arizona, died in Phoenix, 29 Apr 1937, was buried in Shakespear, New Mexico. Michael died in California, Oct 1909 and was buried in Salinas, California. Any information on these grandparents would be appreciated. Thank you, Annette.

Comments:Doc, enjoyed the site. I've lived in Scottsdale most of my
life and Arizona Folklore and History has been a passion
since child hood. I recently made an off-road tour in the
Four Peaks Wilderness near Cane Springs. The guide told me
that we were near the Battle Site of Skeleton Cave
(December 1972). I am familiar with the story, from what
I know the Apaches would have called it a massacre not a
battle. The guide thought that the site might be the same
as "Browns Cave" on the forest service map. I think the
site is located in the vicinity of Adler Creek and Sheep
Mountain in the Four Peaks wilderness. There is also a
"Skull Cave" in the area. but I think it is on the wrong
side of the Salt. I am looking to pin point the battle site
and would like to find a good historical accounting. Do you
know of any good books on this subject matter? Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
C Merts
