WONDERFUL instructions on changing the tie-rods. Thanks for the great pics!

Just wondering though, I think step 14 should read "Screw the INNER(?) end of the tie-rod into the rack.

Comments:Hi, I have a 1989 928 S-4. I've had it for 14 years. Everything is good on it, except the brake will start drag gin when they heat up. George at Monks gave me a tip to try and fix this problem. The car has 32,00 miles on it and I feel it is in excellent condition. Love your web site. jim rayl

I live in South Africa, and looked for a top quality S4, which I found eventually and recently purchased, it's a wonderful car. I also gave myself a christmas present, a Jaguar E Type V12 with only 70 000
genuine kilometers on it, also in prime condition !

Comments:Hi Dave,

Long ago I bought a brand new Porsche 928 Weissach Edition. Eventually I sold the car but kept the luggage. One of the cases is unused, but the other two were stupidly put into use, so they do have some wear. Do you know anyone who might be interested in this collectible set? I'm getting tired of storing them, especially when I'm a Corvette guy. I liked the pictures of your cars as it brought back old memories.

Thanks and sincerely, Ed Browne Wenatchee, WA

Comments:hey dave I am having an idling problem with my 928, i just bought a 1985,
the car idles Alright from time to time, which leads me to believe it may not be a vacuum leak, but at stop lights it will rev and start to get worse unless i step on the gas and keep it at about 2000

i was thinking of checking if the EGR valve is bad or maybe the 02 sensor though my mechanic doesn't think a 02 sensor would cause such a noticable revving

what role does the computerized engine control play:: do they tend to fail with age?

by the way what is cross-over cat bypass

Comments:Nice site. You have a nice 928. I just purchased an 83 928S auto in Guards red & black interior. The paint is good, and so are the seats. But it needs a few things. Alternator, ac compressor etc. Just looking for sources for 928 parts and info. I also own an 86 black Corvette that I just got done restoring myself. I now have the 928 bug.Take care.

Comments:I was wondering if your chain tensioner failure was caused by your timing belt failure and rebuilt engine or low oil pressure? My 1986 5speed 32 valve first timing belt and water pump was replaced @ 110000 miles and the second time both with the tensioner pulley was replace @ 155000 miles. My car has 180000 miles on it with no chain tensioner problem. This is a common problem on 944 engines.

Comments:I am currently doing a rebuild on a 1985 Porsche 928S (European version). So far it is fairly routine with not too many unforseen obstacles. I did have one glitch removing the engine I forgot to completely free up the wiring that runs from the starter motor to the engine and main connector on the right side of the engine compartment. The fun began when I tried to stretch the harness as I raised the engine. Had to free up the harness from the top down.
The rebuild is due to a Tensioner Roller failure and subsequent bent valves.

I just visted your site from the link you have on your Rennlist posts. Very impressive! I enjoyed the engine rebuild pictures and storyline. I wish I had done such a fine job as you did documenting everything for others to learn from - you have set an example for me. Perhaps I can do something similar on my next rebuild. I really like your site. Beautiful car!!

Great website, and an even better car. I often come hear to look (and listen!) I have decided that I want an 86.5 black/black, just like yours. When that time comes, I'd like to spend some time on the phone with you learning about your project. Again, what an awesome car. You have a lot to be proud of.

I have read your responses to tech. problems on pelican forum. I have enjoyed my 85S for five years with little to no problems until now. I have relocated to a rural area with no Porsche service center and I have no manuals. Please help a fellow 928 enthusiast!

My car starts great cold, but will try to stall if I try to drive it before temp comes up off the bottom mark. Once warm, it runs the way it should. Never any misses or funny idle issues, EVER. Once I reach operating temp and turn the car off, like at the Gas station, it is almost impossible to restart; it takes at least five seconds of turning over. It reminds me of a flooding issue I once had with an old Corvette. I suspect the temp II sensor but do not know where to find it on my engine. Furthermore, I do not know what a new PART will cost. I feel confident I can install it myself, but lack the experience that you have. Feel free to email or call at 928-428-4788 (AZ timezone). Thanks for your time and cooperation.

I have a cool picture of a Ferrari a few days back. Actually I have several pictures of it next to the Four Winds aircraft my hubby helps build. He builds composite aircraft such as Lancair and other experimental aircraft. We are considering restoring the Demon to all fiberglass to make it lighter. Anyhow, nice meeting you and I like your car.

I purchased an 85" 928S about 3 months ago. I can't be more pleased with the car. I would like to improve the performance and read the changes you made. I have no idea what a "Louis Otto "X" cross-over cat bypass" is? Can you inform me about this, and where to purchase it. I am not mechanically minded, but with this car, I am learning. Thanks.

from spring to autumn with all these "modern sportscars"

4400 still registerred 928´s in Germany, the owners and clubs proudly present them on many occassions.
Hope to see one of you guys on one of our national or Euro-
pean 928 Club meetings or why not join our armada at this
year´s "Le Mans Classic" at Le Mans circuit,France in July.
Be there! Porsche-there is no substitute (Porsche Club NZ)
