| Comments: | I had a Standardbred brood mare named Kreizer's Skater who died about 6 or 7 years ago. She only had 3 foals and I would like to find atleast one of them. The first two were sent to the Amish the last I heard and I don't think I have much of a chance of finding them,but the last foal was a gelding by the name of Ian's Scooter, born in 1997, who was last sold to an Eric R. Graves in 2001, acording to the USTA.He was sired by Direct Scooter and born on my family's farm in Union,Maine. He had a freeze brand S1298. The other two were also born on my family's farm.The oldest was a gelding by the name of La Freniereizer, born in 1989, sired by Le Coursier. He had a lip tatoo HC424 and a cornet on the left hind leg. The other was a mare by the name of Nuttin Bunny, born in 1991, sired by Skip By Night. She had a lip tatoo K7509. | Comments: | Thanks for your informative website. I read your posts at the Horse Forum, I like what you have to say there. I go to Fraser Downs in BC once in a while. I really like Standardbreds, they are my favorite breed. My great great grandfather bred some good ones in Iowa c. 1900. Big Tee, I have a question or a request. If you ever made a page here to explain the function of all the equipment we see in use during a race, I would get a lot out of that. It sometimes bothers me that the horses have so much stuff piled on their heads and in their mouths. I try to tell myself that I would feel better about it if I knew what all of it was for. I try to keep an open mind and not ruin the racing experience for myself by being offended by things like the horses having their tongues tied outside their mouths. I don't like the way it looks, but no one has ever told me why they do it. I do sort of know why of course. But, I don't know if everyone agrees that this is a fine and acceptable practice, etc. Well, I don't know if I asked my question very well. All I meant to say is, I like harness racing but I wish I knew more about the function of the equipment used in a race, so that I wouldn't be suspicious of it somehow! It seems like such a lot of stuff to pile on a horses head! But what do I know! I do not make the assumption that it is all hurting the horse, not at all. Just sometimes, ha ha. | Comments: | We have often gone to Regina to watch the racing.It was one of our favourite places to watch the races from. You can stand right there beside the track, listen to the thunder as the horses come down the track. The Regina facilities use to be one of the finest. We use to show ponies at the winter fair there also. Regina always had a great horse show. It is too bad to see these facilities and agriculure go to waste. |

Anyone who mentions jogging, science fiction, fantasy, and horses (esp. trotters) probably has my phone tapped - guess I'm going to have to have the place debugged again. Have two horses now, a grade gelding, he's a big old bonehead but he's mine (nobody else will have him, I've tried) and a 21 yr old quarter horse mare. That old mare has given me one good baby and helped me raise a couple others (the human kind). Well the mare is semi-retired now and I've been thinking that a retired Standardbred might provide a quality horse at a bargain price. Have had doubts if they would make a suitable saddle horse for a days work. We mostly do light pleasure but there is an occasional day where we work some cattle. No roping though, tried that once, just managed to rope myself and my horse, and the old bonehead didn't go for that at all! Well got a little wordy, I do that sometimes, will be checking in from time to time. |

I live in an area where the nearest track is over 100 miles away and we have been involved in two Standardbred rescues in less than one month!
