My great grand Uncle, William Smith Hindman, was with Company F of the 155th PVI. William Smith, son of Robert and Hannah Hindman was born February 15, 1842. He died of injuries received at the battle of North Anna River, Virginia. He was wounded May 23, 1864 with amputation being necessary and died in Mt. Pleasant Hospital, Washington D. C. on June 24, 1864. He wrote numerous letters home during the rebellion which are in the possession of the Hindman family. | |

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the job of restoring and preserving the monument that represents those who gave their all to preserve our nation.
