Hello all,
Good to see the place is still standing.... I was the bouncer (that long haired guy) while at UB, from about 1988-1991. Ended up behind the bar with Scott Brasington (hear he is in CO now?) on W/Fr/Sat nights. Many good memories: Sonic Garden, Acoustic Forum, George Duran, the list goes on... Checked the place out once after the fire in the early 1990's. Nice re-hab back then, but to me part of the character was the "little things" such as the exposed wires over the pool table, etc. Would love to see if anybody has pictures from back in those old days, if any of the "old school" checks out this site, shoot me an email. | |

I guess I'm an original "regular".
I was there for Joey D's s grand opening and remained a loyal "regular" until I left town in 1978. I even filled in at the bar when Broadway Bernie was under the weather. I remember when Sy Fiorella managed the place for Joey D and Corky took care of the bar during the day. I was there the night Buffalo's finest shot that asshole that tried to rob the place. He ended up in a wheel chair and had the balls to come back in the joint and actually sued to have Joey install a ramp and make it wheelchair accessible. I remember Joey D's dad making a run for mayor. I won the 1st and only Male Beauty Contest Joey sponsored. The place had a great cast of regulars and I would love to hear from anyone still around. Except for my ex wife of course....and that guy named Ray and his sister that came after me with a knife....thank God "Cadillac" Joe's black caddy was parked and still running on the sidewalk out in front so I could make a quick exit.....and that really big guy that got upset when I missed him and cold cocked his ol' lady during a Sabres hockey game.... | |
