Aftershow party in Germany
Wednesday, November 17th 1999 - 08:51:50 PM

GERMAN POWER WOLVES have organized an after-show party on
the
night from Friday, November 19th to
Saturday, November 20th 1999
and they're pleased to finally announce
the details:
The METALLICA FAN PARTY aka. "WHISKEY
IN THE JAR FOR
BREADFANS IN BERLIN" will take place at
the MUSIC HALL, Storkower
Str. 135, Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg.
This rock club with a capacity of
approx. 900 will be open from 9 pm, but
most guests are expected to
show up about half an hour after
METALLICA finished their symphonic
set at the Velodrom. We will try to set
up signs at the Velodrom that
you can follow right through to the
Music Hall - it shouldn't be more
than a 10 minute walk. The price for a
ticket will be 15 DM (approx. 8
U.S. $), but you'll get to see the
popular German Metallica
Cover-Band NUTELLICA playing live and
even after they've finished
their set, you can drink,
dance and rock out to some good music
until the early morning.
Rumours are that Ingo Knollmann, the
former designer of the comic
Holiday Issue covers of SO WHAT!, who's
also the former singer of
NUTELLICA (now fronting the DONOTS)
might show up to sing a few
songs with his old bandmates. And if
this wouldn't be good enough,
we can offer you a "buy ten, get one
free" ticket deal if you reserve
your tickets ASAP by calling
+49-(0)173-3553978. Once again, this is
not an official MetClub party, but all
Metallica fans (including Club
members) are welcome to attend!
And if you're planning to spend the
whole weekend in Berlin, you're
welcome to show up (again) in front of
the Velodrom on Saturday,
November 20th at 5 pm and hang out with
a few members of the
German Power Wolves who are going to
howl around until they find a
nice place to get a bite to eat, have a
chat and just have a
spontaneous, relaxed, but fun evening
together. If you have any
questions regarding this meeting,
you're welcome to call Chapter Head
Robert at
+49-(0)173-3553978.

Playstation Fuel
Tuesday, August 31st 1999 - 03:54:04 PM

Electronic Arts, a large software producer/developer
announced today it has shipped Hot Wheels Turbo Racing for
the Playstation and will begin shipping the Nintendo 64
version in late September. "The Hot Wheels Turbo Racing
team developed this title to be fun and exciting for
gamers," said Michael Pole, vice president, executive in
charge of production at Electronic Arts. "The nostalgia of
Hot Wheels and the chance to get behind the wheel of a Hot
Wheels car appeals to those over 18 and the hip, edgy
racing and stunt action of the game appeals to those under
18. Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is truly a fun title for all
ages." I know you're all dying to know how this video game
belongs on a Metallica website. Music in the video game
will include tracks by Primus, Reverend Horton Heat, and

Metallica.com Hacked!
Tuesday, August 31st 1999 - 03:45:38 PM

Metallica.com and MetClub.com were hacked into a few days
ago by an Anthrax fan, nonetheless. Part of the message
that the infamous hacker left on the main page of the site
was retrieved with thanks by The Metallica Club
Scandinavia. Here's part of that message: "This site has
been hacked to let you know that Metallica, although a
great metal band (metal is used for lack of a better term)
is not the only metal band around. Check out Anthrax, maybe
some new music from an older mature band will make our
miserable 9-5 working, over taxed, over regulated,
commercialized, pasteurized, politically correct lives a
little more tolerable."

Metallica Petition...
Tuesday, August 31st 1999 - 03:39:23 PM

If any of you live in Minnesota, you'll know there's only
one station that knows how to rock: 93X! I though I'd
share with all of you that I'm an avid listener of 93X.
Obviously, Metallica is a large part of their playlist
throughout the day (and evening). 93X has recently started
a "Metallica Petition" that will *hopefully* bring the band
here to Minneapolis before the end of the year. I thought
I'd bring this up since it may have something to do with
the piece of news I posted previous to this one. Perhaps
their will be another tour at year end?? Only time will
tell. If you don't have a cool station to listen to, check
out 93X on the web!!!

for the new upcoming movie, "Mission Impossible II".
Although their song is not guaranteed to be on the film's
soundtrack, it will be considered by none other than Tom
Cruise, who is also co-producing the film. Outlaws, this
message will self-destruct in five seconds... Have a nice
day!

September 1999 Issue of Spin Magazine
Saturday, July 31st 1999 - 01:36:24 PM

The 90 Greatest Albums of the '90's is the focus of Spin's
September 1999 issue. Along with it being an interesting
magazine, I'd like to point out Metallica's album simply
title "Metallica" but more popularly known as "The Black
Album" is #52 in the article. They beat out other popular
albums such as Green Day "Dookie", Red Hot Chili Peppers
"BloodSugarSexMagik", and Soundgarden "SuperUnknown". What
was the number one album of the '90's according to Spin's
article? Nirvana "Nevermind". Now go buy the magazine.

Master of Limp Bizkit
Friday, July 30th 1999 - 04:16:14 PM

It has recently been reported that Limp Bizkit is playing
the first 2.5 minutes of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" on
their current tour with Kid Rock and Staind. Rock on,
boys!! By the way, I'm kicking myself for not going to
that show when they came to Minneapolis on Monday, July 12,
1999. Just thought I'd share that with all of you.

Our Sincere Condolences...
Thursday, July 29th 1999 - 05:54:14 PM

A dedication at a live Metallica show is something that is
extremely rare. They're quite far and few between,
actually. However, I failed to mention in my personal
review of the Metallica set at Woodstock '99, that a
dedication took place that evening. Just before Metallica
began "Turn the Page", Jaymz dedicated that
song/performance to Amanda, who recently passed away. Tony
Smith, who is the President of The Metallica Club, was also
father to Amanda. The Metallica Club posted a message from
Tony Smith at the official Metallica Club website,
www.metallica.com

Donations, for those who wish to contribute, can be sent to:

The Amanda Smith Memorial Fund
C/O St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital
501 St. Judes Place

All of us at the University of Metallica would like to take
this time to express our sincere condolences to the Smith
family. May the Lord be with you during this difficult
time and always... God Bless.

Symphonica Release Confirmed
Wednesday, July 28th 1999 - 05:24:52 PM

While being interviewed at Woodstock '99, Metallica
confirmed that they will hit the studio shortly to begin
work on the Symphonica album. Just in case you recently
crawled out of a cave, Metallica joined forces with the San
Francisco Orchestra in April 1999. This performance was
recorded live... You'll be able to listen to Metallica jam
with the orchestra just like they did a few months ago!
Rumor has it with the release of Symphonica, there will
also be a VHS/DVD performance of the show as well.
Symphonica is slated for a November 1999 release.

Jaymz & Kirk with Primus
Wednesday, July 28th 1999 - 05:08:54 PM

You can check out a brief sample of the new Primus album
"Anti-Pop" at www.primussucks.com Why am I mentioning
Primus on a Metallica website?? Our friends, Jaymz and
Kirk make special guest appearances on separate tracks on
the new album. Whether or not Jaymz or Kirk appear on this
brief MP3 Primus sample is unknown. You can listen to
Jaymz on the track "Eclectic Electric" when you go buy the
new album, however, the name of the title that Kirk appears
on is yet unknown.

Metallica at Woodstock '99
Monday, July 26th 1999 - 06:02:42 PM

The crowd at Woodstock '99 anxiously waited for The Four
Horsemen to hit the stage on Saturday, July 24, 1999.
Metallica were the last band to perform that evening, while
following such acts as Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the
Machine, and The Chemical Brothers. They took the stage at
approximately 11:00 p.m. (EST) and plunged into "So What!"
They followed with "Master of Puppets" but Metallica opted
to not play the full length album version. "For Whom the
Bell Tolls", "Fuel", "King Nothing", and the entire
rendition of "Bleeding Me" came immediately afterwards.
Jaymz didn't do his usual fuckin' around with the audience,
probably do to time constraints. This may explain why they
went from one song right into the next with hardly any
break. "Sad But True", "Turn the Page", "Wherever I May
Roam", and "One" followed. After they had a chance to
catch their breath after "One", the boys launched into
everybody's all time, moshing favorite "Fight Fire with
Fire". "Nothing Else Matters", and the crowd participation
title "Seek & Destroy" helped everyone get into that famous
Metalli-attitude. "Creeping Death", "Die, Die My Darling",
and "Enter Sandman" rounded off that segment of the show.
After Sandman, the boys took another much needed break, and
relaxed for a few minutes. Kid Rock joined them on stage
for a brief moment before they closed the evening with
"Battery".

They're preparing for the Metallistock
