Thanks for the 3 fantastic concerts in Oz. It was worth travelling from New Zealand to see PT. We met a number of Kiwis over there who had come over to see you. All thought it was worth it.
Please, please consider adding a NZ concert (Wellington) to any future Oz tour. I know there are many other fans here who could not make it to Australia and would love to hear you live.
I would volunteer to help with any Street Team activities.
Many thanks again to all the PT team

Hi Steven, saw you guys at the Melbourne show and was totally blown away. You are without a doubt my favourite singer/songwriter in rock history (sounds lame but it is how I truly feel). Your music stirs emotions in me like nothing else I have ever heard. I have always been someone who basically didn't care too much for any music that wasn't heavy, but that changed when I bought Deadwing and was changed forever. Being at the show was very special for me, especially seeing you close up performing in the flesh. You have made music come alive for me again in a massive way. Thankyou for coming down to see us and I will anticipate the next visit. Stay healthy, you are much loved by your fans.
PS, thankyou for keeping the dvd-audio format alive

Hi Steven,

I was that blonde chick in the front row really enjoying herself, at the Melbourne Porcupine Tree show.

It was utterly amazing and the best show I've ever been to. I had a lot of fun and was in sensory bliss. I hope you noticed my enthusiasm!

Your melodies seem to connect with my insides and it's truly magical.

Thanks so much for coming to Australia - I really hope you come back soon and share more of your precious music with us.

Hi, I'm studying sound engineering at university and I really want to know how you did the effect on the guitar at the end of Bleak by Opeth. I've looked everywhere on the internet, in interviews and I can't find anything that helps so I thought I'd go straight to the source!

Anyway, I don't want to rip off your idea/technique, I just want to understand it so I can further my own ideas.

I hope you get this message.

Thanks heaps! You rock!

Steve, I want to thank you and the Porcupine Tree boys for finally making it to Australia. I saw your first ever Australian show in Melbourne last night and I wish I could follow you on to Sydney and Brisbane. It was one of the greatest nights of music I've yet witnessed (and my past live concert experiences include Genesis, Floyd, Tull, the Moody Blues and ABBA ;) ) I'm sure you could tell from the crowd response that your music is very important in the lives of a lot of people here, and crosses many age boundaries as well. I look forward to a return visit in whichever of your guises you choose, it could never be too soon. Hopefully next time you'll be able to stay longer or at least have a day between shows so you can see much more of the place than just soundcheck and crowd. We're definitely worth it. :)

Hi Steven!

16 years old czech musician here :-) First of all I'd like to say, you are an awesome musician and for sure my "Composer No.1" I love your music

Sorry to bother you, but I have a question. I sometimes compose my own stuff, I've got maybe like 10 songs done and I want to ask you - is it important to think about number of layers in the songs? I mean - when I compose, I'm like "Well, that should sound nice, but gosh, 3 keyboard layers? That can't be performed live..." and like this, so what do you think? Is it important to think about "playability" or should I just compose my real ideas? You are professional musician and I think that in your begginnings, you sure did experience something like that
Please, mail me, if you can
Yours sinc. J.Capek

Both insanely moving. I have been preaching the gospel of PT to all my friends and acquaintances who are into cool music. Hi Steven,

Nice to see in your playlist so many Aphex Twin recordings. I would add to that list Chosen Lords or discs 2 & 7 from the Analord series with this toxic sound of tracks like Bwoon Dub and Pitcard. Or Selected Ambient Works (volume 2) which sounds like a raher underground ambient.
Anyway, there's lots of beautiful tunes on each of them which always remind me childhooddays. It's because of this analogue sound or something?

cheers,
P.

Plus I hope that you - the man himself :)))) - will play before No-Man

Or I could say: I wish to see a Steven Wilson solo-tour as well, but I bet this is a bit too much considering the present material, but if this is not your intention, I am eager to hear much of your own music on the No - Man tour too :)

I have to try ;))
By the way: You could play four hours as well, I don't mind ;))))))

I was supposed to write quite a bit ago, but forgot to. Never mind.

I was listening to Collecting Space again and found myself hoping I could scape my mind into a picture. It's just that I seem not to know what exactly it is I'm thinking of or feeling or going through. I find it quite amusing - an urge to create without knowing what to create.

And I suppose that's why I like your music. It does not always give a straight forward answers but gives you the feeling of something progressing, something going through, passing.

I loved both of Porcupine's gigs here in Finland first at the Ilosaarirock and then at the Pakkahuone, Tampere. I hear you'd be coming here with Opeth again? What a treat after those 15 years, I reckon.

I wish you (all) well, for that's all I can do.

Sincerely,
Hilla

Sorry just a quick ramble while it's in my head, I was listening to the title track of Fear last night and it struck me just how sightful it was. I'm a massive fan of the album and everything else you do and have done, but after all this trouble they're having in Wales with kids HANGING themselves, it just bought it home. I think the title says it all, there is definately a fear that we'll all be just blank zombies moving through life popping our pills and zoning out on X factor if we're not careful. But we're not doomed yet and there are ways out.
Steve you're a brilliant man, keep it up, keep finding new inspirations to dazzle and startle us with.

Hi!

I am an editor of the No1 music webzine in Greece (www.rocking.gr).

Our webzine is organizing many live events and shows.
You are one of the most beloved artists in our country and we are wondering under what circumstances we could have the joy to organize an acoustic show for you in Athens later this year....

Thank you very much in advance,

Steven Wilson: February 19, 2008 Tuesday afternoon. You were standing outside Sainsbury's on Finchley Rd. Golders Green. You were on the phone. I was the excited girl (fan) with a brown coat and green scarf who looked at you twice on the way out. When I turned around and walked back I was going to ask for a photo - but didn't want to be rude and interrupt so I walked straight back into the shop and bought a Lotto ticket instead! I apologise for giving off such a strange vibe, but I was just SO nervous! I recognised your voice and your hair! I should've told you this in person; you're a genius and your music is amazing!!!

Take care and see you at your next London show! :-)

curiouser, and curiouser...

just aquired "Stars Die"..

"and the swallows dance above the sun" - any chance the song was inspired by a bad x-trip?

"voyage 34 - phase one" -- "the wall" after-shock?

still listening to the rest -- curious

wait -- do I hear King Crimson -- not sure of the song -- # 7 maybe? phantoms?

Must have been an interesting time for you, no less.. I know those years were for me...

Always looking forward to your new stuff...

but loving this glimpse into the you of the past///

Love to you across the sea and through the earth's core...

Hi Steve. Since I caught on to your wonderful music last year, and only by hearing a friend of my Daughter's playing FOABP, I had to ask what that was.

It's almost impossible to find any PT/No-Man/Blackfield cd's in stores, even in Toronto, so thank god for iTunes! The amount of work you have created is astonishing, and the quality of it all even more so. Please keep well, and keep writing/performing/recording!

For the life of me, I don't understand why PT isn't one of the most well known and talked about bands in the world.

Take care

Hard luck not getting the Grammy last night but well done for getting a nomination, in my mind there was no contest, Love is an OK album but hardly original and moving like Fear is. As for the surround mix, again NO CONTEST! Fear is awesome in 5.1
Looking forward to the new accoustic album and the new No Man and the new remix of Lightbulb and the SOLO project. That'll keep us all busy this year!

PS did you manage to see Moz in concert recently?

Hi Steve,

About 10 years ago I met someone at a party that happened to know quite a bit about various styles of music. During our conversation he recommended two bands - completely different styles - that I admit, I blew off at the time. I've found very few people that have introduced me to something I really like. Anyway, several years later I stumbled upon both mentioned bands - one of them being Porcupine Tree. I'm very glad I found PT and I'm very glad you work on so many other projects - be it your own or other bands - it's really opened the doors to some styles that normally I might have avoided. My only two regrets are that I didn't listen to that guy and buy PT sooner and I think...maybe...I should have asked him for his phone number! :) Keep it up! I'm looking forward to whatever you do in the future. The show in Dallas at the HOB was awesome. Impatiently waiting for the next tour/album. T

Hello Steven,
well just a note to all out there to spread the word. The fight to inform the world that great music does exist is a never ending battle against the forces of the corporate dominated airwaves. Wow got that out of my chest....

The more people listen the more they like, the love then obsess over what the band does and then what SW does. Why ?

Because quality will always find a way....

Love the Blackfield DVD, thanks by the way for all the shows PT did in Montreal, WE LOVE THE BAND !!!!

Please don't forget us....It's cold right now, but with your songs on the pod I avoid frostbite....

Later......

Hi Steven,
I really liked your "guitar lesson" on the feb issue of guitar world magazine. You're really interesting to listen to!
I now have a suggestion for you -that would be much appreciated by many "home guitarists" like me- how about creating a preset tone for the POD (POD 2.0 compatible!)and put it on the line6 / custom tone website. I've been trying for weeks to find a sound that would ressemble the sound you have on this video (The metal sound you use when you play the 2nd part of FOABP and Futile..).

Keep on making good music!
And come back to quebec city whenever you like!!!!
