I knew I would use her for our daughter's September Boston wedding, which was a leaf, tree, and foliage motif. She did not disappoint; our invitations were cream with chocolate brown leaves on the envelopes. Debi matched her ink to the exact brown color with a bit of shimmer added. Again, the raves came in. Many were in disbelief that the calligraphy was done by a human hand, because the addresses were so perfect. The table cards and place cards also matched with her brown ink, and created the perfect touch to our autumn wedding. | Comments: | Well, our Boston wedding was last weekend (9/22/07), and our theme was leaves, trees and foliage. We had cream envelopes with brown leaves on them. Debi matched the leaves with brown ink when she did the calligraphy. It was simply stunning, and very unique. It set the tone for the wedding, which had a fairyland autumnal quality with gold leaves as favors, and a willow tree with hanging candles and flowers in the branches, and place cards, also done in brown ink by Debi, under the tree on a bed of moss. The calligraphy was perfect! I had countless compliments. Debi had done our other daughter's wedding in March this year, and I knew she was the one to do the next daughter. I looked all over the country for a calligrapher and had samples sent to me from several calligraphers. I've also received many invitations to friends' weddings addressed by calligraphers and Debi's work is the best BY FAR (even better than Beverly Hills calligraphers). You can pay a lot more to have your wedding invitations addressed, and the work will NOT be as good. Her strokes are defined and thick, not thin and shaky like some other work I have seen. My guests have raved about her elegant writing. If you are not sure about whether you want to spend money on having your envelopes addressed, you SHOULD! The invitation is important because it is the first impression your guests have about your wedding. I am going to have Debi do the menu, a note to out-of-town guests and whatever else I can think of. One of my friends from New York told me that her sister paid double what I paid for the calligraphy and the writing was not nearly as good. Finally and perhaps most importantly, Debi is a kind and helpful person. She will go out of her way to make sure the calligraphy is gorgeous and that you receive your envelopes when you need them. I had chosen an invitation with envelopes that had petal pieces in very opaque paper, and a few of the other calligraphers wanted to charge me up to $6 per envelope!
