I am hoping someone might remember him and have more information for us. As with any casualty, the loss it leaves the family is a hole in their universe that is never filled. My grandmother never got over the loss of her only son, and my mother, their only other child, still misses her little brother.
Here is Mike's profile. Can any in the group provide any additional information? Survived the attack of Feb 23, 1969. Hardly ever hear anything about the attacks all around country that several days. John Levitow, USAF, was overhead that night in a C-47 Spooky, helping protect us and earned the MOH for saving his aircraft. Thanks to the 552 MPs HQ/HHC and all the rest who manned the perimeter that few days. |

| Comments: | So good to see so many from memory lane. Hope all are doing well. I was Col Fern's driver from Nov. 70 until he left in June 71, then suntanned at our Ed. Ctr. until I derosed. Some may remember that my younger brother Randy arrived in May of 71 and we shared a room until I left in August 71. He was the RATT Rig operator at night in the Comm. Bunker. He died in November 2008 from many related diseases Agent Orange, Lymphoma and overworked heart. Strangely, after I left he supposedly received two Bronze Stars for action. He never talked of this and I learned it when the Army sent his DD-214 for his burial. My question is does anyone have knowledge of what he did? I would like to learn more of what his actions were or he did after I left. |

| Comments: | I was assigned to HHC 12th Combat Aviation Group from 1971-1972. I worked in the Motor Pool. I was the "parts clerk". There was SSG John Blount, SP5 Sumner Gordon, SP4 Terry Moore and SP4 David Imhoff. We had our motor pool mascot, a dog we found in Saigon, named Rex.
I used to drive the "club girls" home at night after the EM Club closed. It was run by SP5 Arnett. We had a lot of good times in that EM Club. Always a treat when an Australian Band was playing there. Remember the movies that used to be shown on Friday and or Saturday nights outside under the pavillion? |

I remember the faces though and I was in both "the Villa", Tan Son Knut and Long Binh. I ended up an insurance broker. I also went back in and stayed in the Army for a total of 34 years active and reserve.
One story I recall is the night in Ton Son Nhut we were mortared and a Private named Van Buskirk (? sp) was severely injured. One of the SFC's that worked in the S3 in Ton Son Knut came out, covered him until it was over and carried him to the dispensary. Later that night was Dr (MAJ) Magnus showing up with a .25 cal pistol, drunk and trying to shoot out the street lights. Everyone was laughing their head off. |
