Marie Eckstein takes the floor and tells everyone that Kristin and Marc Cartwright are not here due to the sudden loss of Marc's sister. Aunt Marie has a card for everyone to sign and is asking for donations to Kristin and Marc to help with the costs of traveling and expenses. Barbie motions that all the money we would normally donate to the family fund be given to Kristin and Marc, all members say “Aye.” Marie Eckstein calls Barbie Daraban and Lisa Springsteen to the floor, and gives them each fork bandanas in honor of their prank (I didn't get the whole story, so someone will have to tell it) and has now deemed them “The Fork Ladies.” Marie also calls up “Snitch” Tammy and gives her a lei. Triathalon winners this year: ? Who really won, because the minutes here make no sense!!!! (Yvonne) JoAnna Meiner motions that we stay at this campground again next year and was seconded by Sandy. Amy Dutko motions that we reserve/pay for the pavilion both Saturday and Sunday, and was seconded by Aunt Maribel. All members vote “Aye.” Aunt Betty Lou has agreed to contract the campground, and has informed us that reservations can be made in January. Tammy announces she will be making breakfast in the morning around 8:00 A.M., come as you are (dressed) and she will be serving biscuits, gravy, bagels, cereal... Officers: Chris Kilpatrick to do bag tournaments next year, as Bob Meyers will be retiring from the bag tournament job. Position secured by Dutko and Hayes boys for teen games. Children's games: Michael Eckstein and friend Kim. Secretary/Treasurer: Arcina Hudspeth (Tammy's daughter) has volunteered. Aunt Maribel has nominated Barbie for President and Julie Blair has seconded this, all say “Aye.” Accomplishments: Dorane went back to school at ICC and made the presidents list and her daughter, Breanne graduated from 8th grade. Pamela announces that Shayanne graduated from the University of North Carolina, and Blair graduated from Clayton High school. Shayanne has a job working in Atlanta, GA for “Triage,” and Blair is moving to San Diego. First at campground this year, Bob and Carla and her sister and husband. Most people in a trailer: Marie. Newest/youngest member here: Lizlyn Cole. Last couple married: Tony Szerletich Oldest camper: Jerry and Dorane Todd and Jeanna volunteered to do prizes. JoAnna Meiner calls all kids over for games while parents get ready for the dinner. Chad wonders if there is a prize for the person who has to back up the furthest to get here, referring to Jerry Eckstein. Aunt Beatrice is pleased to say that this is the first time in over 10 years that all of her children are here to celebrate the reunion. All male bodies between the ages of 5-50 are requested to gather up food tables by 5:40 so that dinner can be set up and ready for prayers and dinner at 6:00. | Comments: | Several weeks ago, I had some very special visitors. They came at a time when I REALLY needed it. It had been a rough couple weeks, mom was out of the country, and I just needed a hug. What I didn’t count on was just HOW many hugs I would get that day. My visitors were 3 of my aunts, 3 of my very favorite people in the whole world. It was Tuesday, and Aunt Beatrice, Aunt Maribel and Aunt Marie (and Cole) came and took me and the girls to Cracker Barrel for lunch (poor Mark was already back at school). Once we got settled, Aunt Marie handed me a card.
You see, Mark and I knew something of a card and a collection that was taken up at the reunion, but I was not prepared for what I saw when I opened that card. It wasn’t the money that had been collected, although that was very overwhelming and very much appreciated (just the thought of the family thinking of us in that way had Mark and I in tears on several occasions). What really overwhelmed me was the sheer number of signatures on that card. It is hard to explain, but as I looked at all of them, it was as if each signature on that line contained a hug or 2 or 20. I could literally feel the love, as if I had been there at the family reunion when the card was signed and as if I had gotten a hug from each person represented on that card. It was a very emotional moment. Since then, I have been trying to think of a way to thank everyone, and I decided to put it all down in words and thank everyone that way. I have always known that I had the best family EVER! Are we perfect? No, but no family is. What we have is a tremendous amount of love between us. Time after time, people enter our family through marriage, friendship or other relationships, and soon after they are just one of the group. It was 15 years ago when Mark first came to the family reunion, and he has been one of us since. I know that he has spoken of what this family means to him, and that was clear in his reaction as he realized how much everyone was thinking of him, caring for him and praying for him during the terribly difficult time dealing with the unexpected loss of his sister. He and I felt your love that weekend, as we were missing you at the reunion, and we felt it as we looked at the card you all signed and at the donations you made. For all of that love, for all of the thoughts and prayers and for the monetary donations, we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. This family always has and always will mean the world to me. Be proud of it! I know I am! I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Thank you to each and every one of you! I will have to make up for all of the hugs next time I see you! I love you all! |

I am involved with the Blue Star Mothers of America. Our local chapter is the Heart of Illinois Blue Star Mothers. Our group is having a fundraiser on July 30th, at the Roanoke American Legion from 2-8/entertainment will be provided all day. I am asking two things. One, come and support our Military and their families and two...if you are willing to donate anything that would be greatly appreciated. We need: charcoal, lighter fluid, baked beans, chips, lemonade, tea and table covering. by Terry Meiner on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 4:16pm I just have to pass on a story that Uncle Don told and we laughed so hard we nearly passed out. Living in E. Peoria there wasn't a lot of things to do in summer so most of the kids would hang out at the local swimmin hole. There was one time that he decided to take his little brother Carl. Carl was young and didn't know much about life but the testosterone was starting to make him notice the girls. Don wanted to help Carl out by giving him some tips on how to pick up girls so he told him to go out to the potato bin and get a sweet potato and when they get to the swimmin hole put the potato in his pants. Carl did as big brother told him but every time the girls would look at him they would point, laugh and run away. Carl ended the day feeling rejected but big brother convinced him not to give up and took him back again the next day. Same results different day. Carl by now was really down and about ready to give up on girls when Don suggested that a friend take a picture of him and his potato so he could show some girls he knew and try to fix him up. This made Carl feel like there still may be hope, big brother was taking care of him. It wasn't until Don got the pictures back that he finally gave Carl the secret for success. The Potato Goes In Front!!!! I've not seen the picture but Don swore it's in the family pictures somewhere. |

Steve and I have been married for almost 4 years now, and have 2 wonderful kids. Brody Michael turned 6 on May 15th and Siann Morgan will turn 3 on October 29th. We moved to Fort Stewart, Georgia this past April, and in July my husband was deployed. So, we are sitting here trying to adjust and wait for his return, which is suppost to be sometime in December. I had a blast at the reunion. It has been awhile since we all had a reunion like that, very memorable. Tammy, Becky, Bob, Marilyn/George great job for making it so much fun. My kids were disappointed they were not able to or chose not to go back but enjoyed the stories and pics i shared. After mt 2 mo vacation, work has been difficult to get into. It has been hard to get into my NC life as well. Being in ILL all summer kinda spoiled me. We will be back at Thanksgiving, Christmas, maybe Easter and of cource next summer. Have a great Fall. Oh, i have to mention this really cool class that i'm in!!! It's called Culinary Arts!! The school has a cafe that is open to the public, this class is student's getting real life experience RUNNING THE CAFE!!!! I never thought that I would be able to do something like that!!! We got our soldier about 230 on Sunday, and have enjoyed the time we have with him. He was sorry to have missed the reunion this year and is hoping that the W.L.C. Warriors Leaders Course that he begins next summer will be completed by the time the reunion comes again!

| Comments: | Ryan is to be deployed around the first of March. The time is going too fast. He hasn't been told much yet and I don't know if he will be able to even tell us where he will be. He did say he wouldn't have as much contact as he did before.
We were just in Alaska to see them and all is well now. Dominic may be with us this summer so you may see him at the reunion if all goes well. Randy has decided to retire from Cat as of the end of Jan. I think he is excited about it can't say I am as I will still be working but maybe I could get a few more vacations in.
