i went to pennhurst and it's a pretty cool place. i have been there like a million times. my first time i was really spooked. but once you keep going it doesn't scare you as much. when you go you have to be very sneaky! i got caught twice. the second time they charged me with criminal trespassing. and now i have a big fine to pay. but at least i got to see what it looked like inside.

Your pictures of Pennhurst are amazing. I live near there and I've been there once and was caught, but I am planning to go again. I've been trying forever to find pictures and documents of pennhurst on the internet, and now, I'm finally finding a lot. Thanks.
Oh, and by the way, what you people refer to as "orbs" in your pictures are not the result of paranormal activity, they are just specs of dust that have collected on the camera's lens. I have those all the time depending on light conditions. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Reason why the light was on is, there is still patients living there, that wouldn't leave or they came back. They suposively live in a house on the property.
Great Pics | |

Hey. My ass just got caught at pennhurst tonight. It's the fourth time or so that I've been there in the past month. I didn't get in any legal trouble. The guard took the liberty of looking through my car (van actually...) and finding my wallet to take my information from my drivers license. They security officer seemed to be an alright guy. He was older (maybe 55 - 60) and had a big build. I held a casual conversation with him while he was taking my info, and I got some interesting info off of him. He said he catches about 25 - 30 kids a week for trespassing depending on the time of year. The security officer said he used to get pissed off when kids came there, but he got used to it. The policy for getting caught is this:
You get off free the first time (as long as you don't have any drugs/alcohol and/or weapons on you or in your car if you park there). They just take your information and put it in a computer for future reference. They give you a little piece of paper that says: "Security Notice, Southeastern veterans center... sorry, but you have violated a security related policy as follows: tresspassing..." etc. They will take the information from your drivers license, so giving false information is pretty much out of the question... unless you don't have a license on you in which case, I don't know what the procedure is. So essentially every gets one relatively trouble free visit there. I had a friend with me, and they didn't take any of his information. The guard told me that if I was caught again, that I would face legal prosecution for trespassing and that there are various degrees of tresspassing that range in fines from about $100 - $350 (i think... i was a little shaken at the time, but trying to remember these things) Apparently the fine is much bigger if you are caught in a building there, but I know that the guard isn't allowed to be in any of the buildings, or probably even on the closed off roads that surround the whole institution. He told my friend jokingly that he had one more free chance to come back because he didn't take his information. He found us because of where I had parked my van. It was the first time I tried to park it there, but it was behind a water pump station off of Browm Drive, the road that pennhurst road dead-ends on. I guess I should have parked where I had before... Anyway... I think that's about it. Just thought I'd let anyone know who checks out this page about Pennhurst's security policy because this page came up in a google search when I was looking for information regarding Pennhurst. Oh... one last thing: the Security Officers name (as he wrote it on my "security notice" slip was: R. James. If you run into him, just chill; he's a nice guy. Just don't bring weapons or drugs, and have a different driver next time you go (if you can muster the balls to go back after getting caught.) If anyone wants more info, feel free to send me an e-mail at the address I used for this post ( dwm27@drexel.edu ).

Hey, I can't say for sure because I don't know what the coniditions were that night or anything, but I'm fairly sure that the last picture (the one at night) in your photo gallery has orbs in it. In case you didn't know (sorry if you do!), but orbs are a form of ghost that shows up in pictures! It's really easy to find information on the internet to read up on them! I apologize if you already knew all this!
Wonderful site, by the way!! :)
