| Comments: | My previous post was in part based upon an error in my reading of the post to which it responded.
As this post was in my guest book I took it, inaccurately, to be response to previous correspondence with the originator whereas it was in fact a generally posted copy of his response to Hannah - who is mentioned at the top of his post and whose site was originally removed. Based on this misreading I took the comment about childishness to be aimed at me and responded accordingly and inappropriately. For this I apologise. I do however still feel that his labelling of France as an enemy country and his decision to remove French sites from his ring as a consequence is wrong and I stand by my use of "narrow-mindedness" and "bigotry". These descriptions are my personal opinion of the actions taken and are not in any way intended as personal attack. The other remarks made in my post I withdraw unreservedly and promise to be more careful in my reading of future posts before I reply. |

I'd like to explain what it's all about. The owner of the web ring in question took what to me was an offensive stance of deleting French sites because of France's opposition to the war which in his eyes made it an enemy of the United States. My web site is based in England where, against my view and against the views of a great many other people our Government has been 100% in support of the aggressive US policies in Iraq. I found it difficult to contact the ring owner and left a message for him requesting the deletion of my site from his web ring as I did not wish to be associated with such illogical narrow minded bigotry. Strangely, from the message that has now been left here he seems to be under the impression either that I am based in France or that England is also now an enemy of the United States. Clearly along with the lack of logic, the narrow mindedness and the bigotry he has trouble with reading comprehension. Normally I delete messages that I find offensive from my guest book but this time I've decided to leave it there and reply. 2 A.M. Local Time Bob, Great site! Wonderful pictures, witty banter. I live in a suburb of Chicago. We just had a late winter snow storm, followed by the obligatory deep freeze. The world here is white and the temperature has dropped into the stinging single digits--Farenheit! So, it's nice to browse through your pages of photos of exotic, tropical places and imagine myself there. I've never had a burning desire to "see the world"--I'm one of those people pretty content to stick to my own little corner of the world, but when I read your travelogue and see your pictures it does spark a desire in me to see some of the faraway, cool places on this planet before I park these old bones back in the earth.
