Comments: Hey, I was just trying to learn more about the family. My Grandpa, Hilton Ross Hogarth, never really told me much and my mother doesn't know a lot about the family either. I just had a son and want to be able to explain why his middle name is Ross and what the family was/who they are. Thank you.

Comments: Just interested to know what happened to all the Hogarth side after divorcing Roy Hogarth in 1982. His parents were Clifford and Jessie Victoria Hogarth; his sister was Jean married to Henry Shingles. Two children from her first marriage were Graham and Angela. She had three more from second marriage. Roy now remarried to Pauline since about 1983.

My life does not depend on knowing anything, just wondering.

Comments: Hi

My mum is 91 yrs old and her maiden surname is Hogarth.

She was brought up in Glasgow and never visited or had knowledge of her father's Kelso relations.

Her father came from a long line of House Painters.

My Grandfather's name is Robert Boswell Hogarth born 1892 in Abbey Row Kelso.

I have info on several generations back but know very little about my grandfather's siblings.

Great website. Thanks

Comments: Just interested in finding out a bit about my maternal side of the family. My Great-grandmother was a Hogarth, I remember her as a very wealthy grand lady living in Victoria for many years before moving to Ipswich in Queensland. My mother once told my siblings and I that we were in line to a monarchist title. So far I haven't found much. Thanks for the web site.

Also, we have found my grandfather Frederick Hogarth. Frederick was in the Navy during WWI. He immigrated to Canada in 1917 and died in Canada in 1925. I would love to hear from anyone related to Frederick. He married Ethel Graham. His father was John Hogarth from Annfield Plain, Durham.

Comments: Hi

My husband is George Hogarth b.9-Feb-45, born in the NE of the UK - near Newcastle upon Tyne. He has two sisters, Kathleen and Margaret Mary (Molly). Both sisters are at least 14 years older than George. His Father (also George) had a middle name Raspberry (not hard to forget that one!) from his Mother's maiden name - she was Marie Raspberry. The family, when George senior was born, were living in Sunderland. That is as far as I have got.

Comments: Hi All,

The Copland's emigrated from the Orkney Islands, while my close Hogarth relatives' ancestors emigrated from Glasgow. Hence my interest in both as regards to their origins and other family connections.

Comments: Hi I was just sent a link to this page. I have only done a small amount of research on my family tree. I have traced it back to Hougaard in the 1780's. My great great great grandfather was Julius Hougaard who changed his name to Hogarth when he moved to Australia from Denmark. Julius is probably one of the most interesting people that I can find in our family tree. He was an amazing sculptor and some of his work is very famous. I'm still learning a lot about the family though. Hope I can learn a bit more from this website.

Thanks

Comments: Visited my grandfather's home in Blackburn Oct 2012. Found some interesting stories and had a great time with my British friends locating my heritage! My family is from the Blackburn area and emigrated to New Bedford, MA, USA in 1909 to work in the cotton mills there. They were all cotton weavers and such. In America my grandfather ran a pub and during probition a still! I would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of these Hogarths. Cheers

Comments: Hi,

My mum, Beatrice Marion Hogarth, was the daughter of Thomas Oswald Hogarth, who was for a time the Manager of the Carriage and Wagon Works of the GWR in Swindon. His parents, William (b.1816) and his wife, Isabella (b.1817) came from Northumberland.

There is a section on Thomas, his family and a bit about his origins in Saltney, Carriage and Wagon Works by Tony Wood, published for the Great Western Study Group by The Wider View.

Happy New Year!

Mary
