Comments: I have a great grand uncle Charles BLEWITT who emigrated to Oxford County, Ontario, Canada about 1866 and married an Eliza HOGARTH / HAGWORTH / HOGGART at Ingersoll, Ontario on 10 Nov 1875. Eliza was the daughter of Thomas and Eliza. The various spellings are as they appear on some Canadian websites. There is a Thomas and Eliza HOGGART of Ingrave, Essex, UK in the 1841 Census. They indeed have a daughter Eliza age 10 yrs., that fits nicely. Charles and Eliza Blewitt died together tragically from coal gas asphyxiation in 1917 at Gobles, Ontario and buried at Princeton, Ontario. Do any Canadian Hogarth / Hagworth / Hoggarts know any more details please, as it appears Thomas and Eliza Hoggart emigrated with their entire family to Canada. They had at least eight children born in the UK.

Comments: Mary Hoggarth married Smith Stainthorpe and they had Elizabeth Ann Stainthorpe who Married Johnson Barnard. This union produced three children that I know of: Mary Hannah, Lilian and Johnson Stainthorpe Barnard. Johnson the elder died (I think at sea) aged 32 in 1880. Elizabeth came to Australia and her daughter Mary Hannah married Arthur Robertson. They had Mildred Robertson who married Norman Gough and they had Norma, Milton and Margaret. Milton is my wife's father. What Happened to Elizabeth can any one tell me? I think she died in Australia, but cant find proof. Lilian Married Samuel Knox, but I have no info on Johnson Stainthorp Barnard. Did they go back to England? HELP!

Comments: I stumbled on this site because I was talking to a friend over lunch about the possibility of being related to William Hogarth (my friend is an art buff). My Aunt once told me that her (and my Mum's) cousin had done a family tree. My Nana's (Grandma) maiden name was Williamina Hogarth and she lived most of her life in North Shields. I'm not sure on this, but my Nana's Dad or Grandad's great great (not sure on how many greats, it may be more) uncle is supposed to be William Hogarth and there are supposed to be loads of Lords and Barons or something in that line. Plus a connection to Earl Grey, but I don't recall what that was. Problem is I don't know where to start and most of the surnames in my family are quite common. White, Walker, Brown, etc, etc. And if I was to do my family tree I would like to do it all if that makes sense? I have started plotting out what I know on a bit of paper - no dates or anything - mostly aunt's and cousins and stuff, but it's getting very messy. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
