| Comments: | Love your scrap saver system. I bought at the garage sale my quilt guild sponsored a lot of traditional fabric perfect for scrap quilts (unlike what I usually buy which is bright and contemporary fabrics) and so your free patterns and advice is really help me be creative with my newly acquired stash. I have always loved scrappy quilts, but never knew quite how to go about doing one. Your free tutorials are great.

Please give Oscar a big hug for me. My Amalie cat died in Feb, and she and Oscar could be twins. Have another car, Fiona. Neither of them liked each other. Well, Fiona did until this year and them started to give the Dowager Queen a few hisses now and them. Amalie (Ah-molly) was 15 and Fiona is 14. Adore animals and get so angry when people abuse them. :( Blessed holidays to you and your. Helen |

It amazes me that you both get so much done in so short of a time. I just finished a quilt for our bed, king size, but I just tied it. Not quite up to the whole quilting process yet. I have sewed for years, but mostly clothes, doll clothes and doll blankets for my children, and now for my grandchildren. I applaud your work, its beautiful.

I am confused on the strip twist pattern. After you sew your strips and then square up the block and but it into two triangles....do you flip something or turn something..cuz if you sew the diagonal after you cut it you would just be putting it right back together....does that make sense? Thanks so much p.s. I have only been sewing 3-4 years. Which of your strip quilt free patterns would you say was the easiest and fastest...I wanna get started on Christmas and Halloween early. Thanks Laurie |

| Comments: | Thank you so much for sharing your scrap patterns. You have inspired me to start using all those scraps I have (and just couldn't bear to toss)after several years of quilting. I have been told to sell my quilts, but for the time I have in them, I would have to charge more than what anyone would want to pay. So I give them away - to my kids, grandkids, family, friends and charity auctions. Can't wait to get started on some scrap quilts!

| Comments: | Dear Bonnie, Have been reading your blog for month's since we thoroughly discussed your scrap saver system one evening. Have been collecting cotton shirts, linens, silk and wool for longer than I've seen anything in writing. I told myself no more and then the mother lode of garage sales: The lady had bought our a quilt store! 4.5 to 10 yards apiece. Oh well, I crumbled and bought at least 200 yards, 4 good books and about 15 patterns for $42.00. Backings for a song. Plus my Mom-in-law who lives with us is making quilts, 3 KING sized since Oct 07 and another in the works. She was 77 when I finally convinced her how theraputic sewing and quilting are when dealing with the stresses of life.
Hang in with the tough love. It really is harder on the parent than the man-child. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let them make their own decisions and look away. Remember that you set a good example and it does not reflect on your parenting although it probably feels that way. I have four sons and one daughter ages 16 to 25 and am just recently a new mother-in-law to my oldest. New boots can pinch a little! I'm Learning just to compliment and otherwise KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT. No more yelling. I enjoy reading about your life and travels, Sincerely, Lynn Hunger, Tremont City, Ohio |

I cannot thank you enough for the "crumby" lesson at the work shop in Elkins, WV. I am ADDICTED!!! I have made 53 blocks so far. I went to quilt camp the following week planning to work on other projects and ended up with most everyone dropping their scraps on my station and I worked on crumb square. I will be setting each block in a finished 2" sashing and I think the quilt will simply be smashing or "Crumby". Everybody was stopping at my station looking and admiring. You are my inspiriation. Thanks again....It was a pleasure meeting you - wish you lived closer :) Teresa Kee |

You're so inspiring and I'm having great fun using up my scraps and planning to use more. My daughter helped me organize my sewing nook and now I'm slowly working on cutting up my scraps (mostly from dresses for my 5 daughters) into strips for playing with. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see your next book.
