Honestly (and I say honestly because I am a huge fan of and immediate sucker for mash-ups in general), I just like the slack album. I don't think it's the best mash-up ever, but I do think it's very good. Tracks 2, 3, 5, 6(my personal favorite, very unexpectadly beautiful), 8, and 9 are amazing. Absolutely breathtaking, even. The first time I listened to it I was walking down my street and "trigger 4th" started and I think my head exploded. It's a wonderful song. As for the others though, I don't really like them as much, but I still think you did a great job, because mash-ups are kind of difficult, aren't they? This is all coming from just some seventeen year old kid who is also a musician and plans on going to school for audio production. Anyway, thank you for giving the world another black album remix, it's a good one.
p.s. It may not be as culturally significant, but Nas has an accapella album you could try, I'd really like to see what you'd do for it. Anyway, thanks again. I don't really think so... |

Favourite Tracks:
1. Perfume V My Thug
2. Loretta Clarity
3. Zurich Your Shoulder
Those 3 are absolutely magnificent, and the rest of the album is great too.
For me - Here/99 Problems doesn't work at all - possibly my favourite song by each, but they don't go at all IMHO.
Otherwise, few complaints!!

this is God damned amazing! Rappers should take n-wee's cue and sample from more respectable contemporary acts like pavement. I mean of course we all dig the 70s and 80s funk and soul samples in modern hip hop, but indie rock is a beautiful untapped resource, and Pavement are actually a prime example of black influence on rock music actually working! Just not in the ways we think when we think of the likes of Linkin Park and other shitty nu-metal bands trying to show a "black" attitude. DJ n-wee is a pioneer, and even if the slack album would have sucked (which it doesn't) he still deserves all the props in the world for putting the king of hip hop, and the kings of true blue indie rock together, finally! |

So many people who can't find a copy of the JZCS... and I'm one of them...
someone, somewhere, must be able to figure out a way of getting this. If you have this, put it up as a torrent, somewhere. Please. |

Living in Seattle now, playing in an Americana band for the time being, with a short stint in a wannabe weezer thing with a couple jackasses that took themselves way too seriously. Other than that, just struggling to get laid (yes, still married--hence no beav)Lemme know what's happening witchoo.

Thanx DJ N Wee for turning me back on to Hip hop/rap/breakbeat again. I started there with Public Enemy n' Run DMC back in the day (I'm showing my age now)but went off that shit quickly coz they didn't educate n just went on about niggaz, bitches an' whores. Now I see the light thru your rekkid of JaY Z's black album as being a piece of art linked with Pavements classic... shit. Your album is sick as fuck... keep em comin' man man... |

http://www.livejournal.com/users/wrongavore Hey man.
I want to say whats up. I cant tell you how much I've appreciated The Slack Album. As a Pavement fan and somewhat of a rap-enthuisast, this was excellent. You did a great job and the album is awesome. I prefer it to the grey album and the original black album. My fav songs are Encore, Allure, Justify my Thug, Lucifer, and all of them really. Excellent job. Please do another one.

"Whatever the major labels get their hands on, they kill within a matter of months, at least for the original audiences." DJ N-Wee
Poor baby. Do major labels kill everything they get their hands on? Waa waa waa. Maybe it's supposed to be killed, douchebag. The fact that you're getting attention playing records is pretty pathetic, if you really think about it. Stop whining, enjoy your 2 seconds of fame, and develop some real artistic skills.
