| Comments: | As the adminstrator of the Gilbert Y-DNA Project, I'm very pleased to announce that we have our first Jacobi Jelbarte descendant in the project! I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am to have this line represented in the project. I'm hoping we will see a random match with other Gilbert lines who don't know their roots are with the Jelberts of Cornwall.

| Comments: | Great to find the words to some songs so regularly sung at the "Plume Of Feathers" inn at Princetown on Dartmoor back in the early 70's by a folk band called "Porrij", consisting of Dave on vocals & percussion, Alan on guitar and John on banjo ... although they always had guests on bass, melodian & accordion.
Camborne Hill and Little Eyes were firm favourites to end a Sunday lunchtime session with and until now I had forgotten the words! Thanks guys. |

| Comments: | William Gilbart and his wife Barsheba appear to have had more children than shown in the Jelbert Society file. William is #8 in the 'Descendants of Jacobi Jelbarte of Gulval' file. Their additional children were Jacob born about 1814 at Redruth and Ann born about 1816. The descendants of these children can be viewed on the Rootsweb WorldConnect site at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=akline&id=I8039.

This website is amazingly well presented and just took me to places I'd only hoped to have known about earlier. I have an ancestor Sarah Temby, who married John Mitchell. Here are the only notes I have of them so far. William Henry Mitchell, my great great grandfather was born in 1836 inCambourne, Cornwall,England.<His father was a miner, named John Mitchell.His mother was named Sarah Temby. William married Ann Stevens in 1857 in Cambourne, Cornwall England. He was aged 21 years when he got married.He died 7th of January 1899 in Maldon Victoria Australia aged 53 years old.(Victorian death certificate no: 3073/1899) I know it is not much about Sarah Temby, but prehaps you might know someone whose chaseing both a Mitchell and Temby Well done to two very talented brothers on such a wonderfully researched family-history. The photos are just delightful! |

| Comments: | I'm in a bit of a state of shock, actually. My line of the Gilbert family hail from the Gateshead area of Tyneside. Our folk have never really kept in touch with each other so when I started researching our family history I didn't really get very far. I recently received a letter from my uncle Geoff Gilbert which has somewhat opened the way for me into the 1901 census. Through the census I have traced my heritage probable to Charles and Elizabeth Gilbert, 6th generation in the St Just tree and my GGF. The combined facts that I am Cornish and have such a huge distributed family are somewhat overwhelming to be honest. I should be able to prove the lineage unequivocally when the 1911 census arrives but for now it's all a bit too much to absorb, frankly :-D How exciting. If anyone has any knowledge of this NE connection then I would be very interested to hear from you. |

By accident we found another family in South Africa! We met William Matthew Jelbert who is a medical docter in Worcester. I'm looking for information regarding James Jelbert who married Mary Anne (Anna Maria) Semmens.
