I would really like you to receive my letter and read it. I like you as an actress of a great Italian cinematography. I saw you in all films that were on in the Soviet Union. It goes without saying that you have made a big contribution in the development of world cinematography. However I will always remember your beautiful face, your charming eyes, and your characters - different but so noble people. In the film The Red Tent that was made together with the Soviet film-makers you were a wonderful flower in the northern snows. Recently my friend and I have reread your reminiscences about your childhood and youth in Tunis. You described everything so vividly and sincerely and you proved that you are a unique personality. Since 1994 I have become blind because of doctor’s mistake. My life has greatly changed. You see, I am historian and a journalist. I hope you realize that mobility is the main bread in the profession of a journalist. I live alone I am sorry to say that all my relatives have passed away. Kind people help me to survive. Thanks God, Jesus Christ and the Virgin Marry for that. However, dear Claudia, I feel sorry that my dream to visit Italy has not come true. In the times of the Soviet Union it was impossible, and in independent Ukraine my blindness turned out to be this reason. I sincerely wish you and your relatives all the best. But for a brief, shining moment, the gift is ours, and if we're lucky we are pleasing to the eye, and to the ear. I loved her smokey voice, and her large, dark eyes, but most of all I loved her smile. We all fell in love with Claudia. I think I first saw her in the sixties, in a film with Burt Lancaster, called the Leopard. Three years later she shared the screen with Burt again, although their characters were very different, but the chemistry was there. One of the great beauties.
