Comments:I have just found this site and I wanted to add another perspective to this fine man. When I was in grade school I took vocal lessons from Mr. Gainey. I am not sure of the place but I think it was near a bakery on Highland Avenue. I wanted to sing rock and so Mr. Gainey would allow me to bring a new popular song every month. Even though the likes of Buddy Holly et al were not all that familiar to him, he was so wonderfully encouraging while having me learn the traditional songs as well.

Now, years later, I have had a very fulfilling career as an artist with A&M Records and I have had the opportunity to write with some amazing songwriters. At 61 I am managing one of the "new" bands that is know for industrial/goth kind of music; they are presently ranked number one in the world in their field. I think that Andrew Gainey would understand their music and their dreams just as he understood mine. He was a great talent but an even greater role model for me. God bless him.

Comments:Andy was musical director in several "Musicals" I did while attending Birmingham Southern. I remember a girl named Theresa Rinaldi that he took great interest in, probably because of her vocal talent. I remember his signature being, "Andrew Gainey, Baritone". Rest in peace Mr. Gainey.

Comments:I had the priviledge and pleasure of being one of Dr. Gainey's private students at Birmingham Southern and sang as a baritone in the South Highland Presbyterian Church under his direction from 1958 - 1964 when I left Birmingham due to my job and missed the choir and our great Christmas Programs he devised and directed. Some of those had accompaniment from members of the Birmingham Symphony.

Comments:I think what you are doing is a great thing. When I was younger, if it wouldn't have been for friends & neighbors, I never would have had the opportunity to have music in my life! So keep up the great work & I can't wait to hear of its benefits.

Comments:I am honored to sign this Dreambook to show my support of what I feel is a noble and needed cause. My background in singing for the last 30yrs (from church childrens choir to winning state championships in high-school, as well as numerous singing successes in the USA and around the world in my adult endeavors)has afforded me the knowledge that children and youth should ALWAYS have the OPPORTUNITY to pursue their passions in the Fine Arts REGARDLESS of financial ability. We(those of us who have had the blessings of formal training in our own personal artistic passions) should support THIS fund as well as All Fine Arts Mr.Steve Pennington is a personal friend of mine who genuinelly has a true love for the arts and a huge heart for the children and youth of America who dare to become the best singers, pianists, and entertainers that they can be.

Comments:As a music teacher, I fully understand the budget cuts that so deeply wound our music programs. I believe Steve Pennington has started a movement that can only help the students. Please give wholeheartedly to this fund, our future is depending on it, for it is Art the makes us human.
