Greetings from Australia |
Comments: A lady ancestor of mine came to Australia in 1855 in a ship named 'Briseis'. apart from the passengers it carried a cargo of Whisky and Salmon. Her name was Julia. She had been born in Malta in 1833. Her father was a Scottish soldier stationed there, and her mother was an Irish descendant of German protestant refugees. They went on to the Greek island of Corfu before returning to Ireland and then Scotland.
Julia had 11 children, and 3 husbands and never stayed at the same address for very long. I dont have a picture of her, but she is my most interesting ancestor.
As I said, she came on a boat called the 'Briseis' and I was looking to see if anyone had mentioned it in a website, when I found yours.
Your website has a strange feel, with the purple writing on the black background.I can't actually read it, but I can if I highlight it with the mouse, when it becomes white on blue on black. It's like reading an invisible message.
I'm also intrigued by your method of thumbnailing your photos. They don't appear very interesting, but if you click a lovely image emerges.
Your personal information page only seems findable from a link in an obscure position at the bottom of a page.
Overall, it creates an intimate feeling wherein a very interesting person merges from the dimness, just like a conversation.
Congratulations on a site which is deeply appealing and intriguing. |
