| Comments: | Hi, I just wanted to drop you a line to say I was in Burlington in Sept 2007 for 10 days with my grandson who is a Scout, and I the Group Commissioner/Cub Leader/Scout Resource.
My friend took me all over looking for a Scouting Group to meet, and to let my grandson meet other Scouts while we were there. We did find a hall with a Scout Sign on it, but no one could tell us when the group was meeting, and was sorry I never got to meet fellow scouters and scouts or cubs in your area. I love your web site, lots of information. I hope to return to Burlington some day for a second visit, and will be sure to look up a group around the St.Elizabeth St. area which is where my friend lives. | Comments: | Does anyone remember a lovely lady pack leader named Shirley Garnham? She has recently gone home and her daughter let Burlington Area know that this happened. Shirley was active in the area in the 50's and 60's prior to moving to Calgary.

| Comments: | Scouting has influenced me and my family since the early 50's. Starting in Cubs in Canada, and then on a limited basis in England, it has been a very rewarding experience. In the eighties, becoming a leader, gave me the opportunity to re-live those youthful experiences with my children, and found it quite satisfying to see my children respond well to the program to the extent one of them achieved the Queens Venturer Award and the other Chief Scout. After a twenty year absence I am now back at this Scouting Adventure and really look forward to sharing my life experiences with the Burlington District. |

| Comments: | I found some of the old Boy Scout "Hike Reports" that I wrote while in the First Strathcona Boy Scouts in the 1960's. I copied one out and posted it at http://robertsewell.tripod.ca/hike1.html I hope Scouts of to-day will find this interesting. Note that there were no Scouters along on this hike; otherwise we very likely wouldn't have tried climbing down the cliff or hopping the freight train. We were fortunate that no one was killed.
Perhaps a Scout Troop could try following this route and reporting on changes that have occurred since 1965. |
