| Comments: | Hi:
Just getting back involved. My two sons and I spent ten years with the 26th Burlington Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers i.e. from 1978 to 1988 inclusive. It was a terrific adventure. Our Sponsoring Group was the Brant Hills Presbyterian Church. We met at Paul A. Fisher School. My various leader associates and myself took our Woodbadge I Training in both Cubs and Scouts, and three of us went on to complete Scouts Woodbadge II & III. Four of our Scouts went on to Venturers and eventually earned their Queens Venturer Award under my Advisorship. The Scouting movement really helped many of my young men prepare for their future, and the Scouting movement really assisted me in my parenting/leadership role. One of my most memorable moments was when the Venturers formed a small business with the assistance of Don Smith of Smiths Funeral Homes. He visited the team as a Junior Achievement project and gave them really sound advice. They manufactured a window cleaner and called it 'Venturer Clean'. The mission was to raise money for our 26th Burlington Group Committee and a Trent River boat cruise. Both missions were achieved. The three leaders that impacted my life the most were Frank Vancea and Dick McCarthy of the 26th Burlington Group and Ad Reiser of the 1st Kilbride. It is interesting to note that Ad is still involved after all these years and Dick's son Kelly is now involved with the 1st Waterdown. My son Gregory, now a father, is a Beaver Leader in Windsor. It is my opinion that the Scouting movement directly and positively impacts the lives of our young people by helping to set a standard, a code, a blueprint, that stays with them the rest of their lifes. It is an awesome and very existing responsibility, and one that anyone of us that has been involved would not have changed for the world, and going forward, will look back on with a true sense of unselfish pride and accomplishment. | Comments: | I was at camp Manitou this past weekend for a white tail camp and had a great time. The kids also had a great time. The grounds were well kept, as were the cabins. There was TONS of space for them to run and play. They also had a great time looking at nature. Thanks Camp Manitou!!

| Comments: | Great web site -- can't wait to see the camp history when it comes up. Many great weekends there in the late '60's and seventies, with the 17th Burlington. I was afraid, when I did a google search for the camp, that I would learn it had been turned into a golf course. Well done to the Burlington scouters for keeping it going! |

| Comments: | Camp Manitou has a soft spot in my heart. This is where I
first camped in Sep 68 at YABO 68. Who remembers that one? It is where I camped and worked on camps and moots for 17 years. It's where I met my wife, was introduced to the military which became my profession and did so much to list. Mt heart will always be with Burlington. I have yet to see the camp memorial but the nest time I am down that way, I will make a point to see it. Burlington is lucky to have such a place. Why, I even have what probally is the first camp crest which used to be pinned on the board for years in Anne's office at the old Scout house |
