Comments:hi, flicking through an old photo album i found an old school photo of some people i would love to chat to. the back of the photo has rachael (that's me!) jenny, tania, kaylee, linda, georgia and maria. Sorry no surnames. The year is 1988 and we were all in year 10. if you know anyone that went to Stady (strathmore high) around that year (give or take a year either side)drop me a line. also if anyone knows how to get onto old school photos - we all know the ones that were taken as a group by professional photographer for each year...please let me know. maybe i could search for old school buddies that way? I was only there for 2 years and left to go to another high school for year 11 and 12 but have fond memories - WOW how much it has changed - theres a pool there now!!!

Comments:Often I have reflected on a time long gone. Of a time that, to me, was innocent & carefree. My earliest, detailed memories are fondly those of Strathmore North Primary. I am very proud to be part of the first prep class & the first class to go through to 6th grade.
Lovely to see another pioneering member of that era, Robyn Tandy, signed this Dreambook. I eagerly await the signing of others of the same class in the hope that a 50th school reunion may be organised.

Comments:A friend referred me to the wikipedia entry on Strathmore, which in turn linked me here. Having grown up as a 3rd generation Strathmore resident, it's always been interesting to hear my mother and grandparents talk about how the area used to be, and it's been just as interesting reading your brief history. Thanks for taking the time to write it!

Comments:I taught at Strathmore High School 1961 and 1962 - 2 of the happiest years of my life. I am trying to contact Peter Woods who I taught there and who himself has been a teacher at Strathmore for the last 30 odd years. We have been friends throughout the years but at the moment I am unable to contact him either by phone or e.Mail. I suspect he's taking a sabbatical but if anyone knows anything I'd be grateful if you could let me know. He talked about a reunion in 2007 to celebrate 50 years - is it still going to happen? I now live between India and the UK but would hope to attend a reunion. Bryan.

Comments:hi fellow strathmorians!!!!!

i am a 2nd year graphic design student, and i am researching strathmore and its history. i plan to design a visual identity for strathmore, such as a logo, and maybe signage, shopping bags etc.

if anyone has any photographs of strathmore, napier street, the schools, old uniforms or just anything to do with strathmore, (old or recent, i don't care!) and they are happy to share (i'll just be putting then in my visual diary as research), could you please send them to the above email address. thanks.

by the way, this website is great. i never knew there was so much history of the suburb. keep up the good work bruce.

Comments:Our family lived opposite Woodlands park. We went to North Essendon Primary then Strathmore High School in 1960's. Does anyone else remember counting the train carriages. Good old Miss Bert - the cranky older tarter and Mr Willis who would grab you by the head if you were mucking around in the corrador. Monsieur Michalef told me if I promised not to do French the next year he would pass me. An offer too good to refuse !! I got the same deal with British History !! When I finally went to UK and France I couldn't help but have a chuckle - if only they could see me now !! Remember boys assembly in one quadrangle and girls in the other. I must fess up ....Those tights Miss Bert was giggling around looking for the owner (so she could wack em on the legs with a ruler)were mine but there was no way I was going to claim them with the boys all laughting on the other side. If you lost your hat, gloves or blazer just be fore an assembly inspection it was probably Leonie and I - sorry !! Looking forward to a reunion - hope to see a few familiar(though older) faces there.

Comments:Great web site!! I was searching for data on my Peck family in Lebanon, New Hampshire and ran across your information about John M. Peck's house and the picture. It is great to see the home is still standing. I was however, distressed to realize I had probably gone right by it without stopping while on a recent holiday trip through Australia! If any of the Peck family still lives in the area and is interested in getting the family history back to when our line of Pecks came from England to America in 1615, I have quite a bit and am more than happy to share.

Comments:Terrific site Bruce, gives us old Strathmorites a chance to comment about some childhood memories from when we were growing up in the area!! As an adult i can express myself about memories from the past, that i have NEVER forgotten !
The one i'll mention here is from my time at Strathmore State(Primary)school in the early 60's in Dear Mrs Regan's/Reagan's class.
I had a crush on the most beautiful girl i have ever seen,Karen Tempany from Melissa St,but i was too shy and
nervous to keep up the momentum **LOL**
She was a dream, last memories of her were in Strathy High
with a boyfriend,which was no surprise ....
How are you going Karen? Thanks for making my day once !!
