Comments:Hi All,

CMTs Transbus Enviro SK52 USS has now been fixed, and along with Solo 2025 S22 ABC, was ususually on the 79 (Liverpool - Netherley) today! (So CMTs biggest bus the Enviro which is slightly wider that the 12M Volvos, and their smallest bus type Solo were on the 79 at the same time!)

I got a ride on the Enviro :-) , and it is B44F, has a Dennis badge on the steering wheel, Alexander body plate on the inside bulkhead and Transbus logos etched on the windows! Internally all the seats are similar to those on Arrivas ALX 200s (2263 - 2272), very cumfy, though they have a very odd moquette, turquiosey colour with drawings of planes, buses, trains etc on them! The seats also have cantilever frames, so are attatched only on the body wall side, making cleaning of the vehicle much easier.

Although the Enviro is available with ZF5HP502 5 speed automatic, Allison B300R 4 speed automatic or Voith Diwa D854.3 4 speed automatic gearboxes, this one appears to have Voith, as it sounds exactly the same as the Voith gearbox Darts that CMT and Halton have, it also has the same
6 cylinder Cummins ISBe series engine!

Next site update will probably be tomorrow (Wednesday 12th February!)

Cheers

Comments:Hi There,

Just an update on the CMT Enviro demonstrator. Don't go out looking for it as it was involved in an RTA with a car on Tuesday whilst operating the 10's. Don't know how long it will be off the road as there has been problems getting hold of panels/parts with it being such a new model !!

Just to let you know, CMT have a Transbus Enviro 300 on demo, was operating on the 79's on Monday and the 10's yesterday. Not sure how long it is due to stay. Don't have any Reg No but is seems to be in the Translink ( Ireland ) blue'ish colour scheme.

P454 DCW - P461 DCW are the ex Express Travel ELC Spryte Darts, not Pointers! - Be interesting to see these in GTL livery!

Good to see these now in use again, with the newer three S509 NFR and T840/1 CCK now with Avon Coaches!

How long now before GTL gets some brand new buses!

Comments:Hi All,

Just reciieved excellent info on those ex Express Travel Darts from tgree different people!

Three of Express Travels Darts have been bought by Avon Coaches, those being:

S509 NFR Dennis Dart SLF 10.1M ELC Spryte B40F

T840 CCK Dennis Dart SLF 10.1M ELC Spryte B30F Smart Eco

T841 CCK Dennis Dart SLF 10.1M ELC Spryte B30F Smart Eco

Two T reg ones are to remain in Smart livery for now, but all three will be repainted shortly - As a result Wright Handybus Darts J617 KCU & J613KCU are to be sold.

The ELC Sprytes are expected to be used on routes 82/83 (Birkenhead - Heswall) and 164/165 (Woodside - New Ferry), although T841CCK was on the 122 (Fazakerley-Crosby), one of Avons few Liverpool routes yesterday, Sat 18/01/03!

Thanks to P.Redfern/A Hogan and Peter Ferrigan for this info!

Just seen two ELC Express Travel Darts coming out of their yard on Woodend AV. There was x1 S reg and X1 T Reg. They were throwing some smoke out - looks like they havn't been started for while. They headed down Speke Boulevard towards Liverpool followed by a fitter in a white unmarked van. Don't know if these have been sold ??

Thanks to Andrew for Halton Transport info!

Full list of reg for the new Halton Dart/ELC Myllenniums is as follows:

34 - DE52 URZ
35 - DE52 USB
36 - DE52 USC

Went on 34 today, and they are B43F, with nice modular seats!

Rear end does seem more Spryte than Myllennium, and although there are no Spryte badges on them, I think the bodywork is called ELC Myllennium Spryte, though I think 34 is the first one built for anyone, so I'm not sure!

Site should be updated at the weekend!

One of Haltons new darts is operating today on the 14's, Fleet No 35 DE52 USB, ELC Myllennuim. Rather strange body combination as the front is the new style Myllennium but the rear is as per the old style Flytes ( Express travel style ). Hope this is of use to you

The Halton Transport fleet is one of the best, every bus is low floor they are always clean.

But Arriva North West from the Runcorn depot win because when you board you are met by a friendly helpful driver (Halton's drivers are miserable as sin!)

Also on your photo of P543 MBU you have put Location:Runcorn, the photo was actually took at Liverpool Airport.

Comments:Hi James,

Your information is correct - All Arriva Warrington - Wigan services ar tranfering to St Helens garage from Runcorn garage in the next few weeks, as part of a huge number of Arriva changes/reallocations for September.

Route 79C (Liverpool - Netherley) is being extended from Netherley to Runcorn, and is to be operated by Runcorn, so this is one of the routes that the buses from the Wigan routes will go onto, but most will be on other routes, as the 79C is due EL2000s!

Also three of Halton Tranports ELC Myllennium Spryte Darts have now been delivered from East Lancs to Halton Council, and are apparently stored in teh councils yard, at least until next week to get 52 plates, though it was originally intended for these to enter service in Novmeber - Maybe ELC are trying to impress, given the lateness of the last order of Marshall Darts sent to Halton! The person who saw them is sure they are Myllenniums too, which I think makes them the first Darts to get the body!

Cheers

.
Just spent an hour or so getting my notes on WIRRAL OVERGROUND branding sorted.
.
Vinyls are applied above the windows with white lettering and the full stops shown are at mid-height. Service numbers are usually toward the front of the branding. Orange line has additional vinyls across the bottom of thee windscreen, down the offside of the rear, just behind the entrance and on that same bay on the offside.

ORANGE LINE
Chester - Liverpool
1 Chester . Zoo . Whitby . Ellesmere Port . Overpool . Bromborough . Birkenhead . Liverpool
.
YELLOW LINE
Chester - Birkenhead
2 Chester . Whitby . Ellesmere Port . Overpool . Bromborough . Birkenhead
.
Chester depot’s Olympian 30038 - G762 XRF is reported to be branded for Yellow Line

.
GOLD LINE

Could be called ‘Buff Line’ or ‘Ochre Line’ but I prefer to think of this colour as ‘Old Gold’ and feel the marketing men would tend to use this.

Brown/ Red lines 40121 - M970 XVT at least carries dual branding
.
22 23 Chester/Mill Park . West Kirby . Moreton . Birkenhead . Poulton Lancelyn/Port Sunlight 38 39
.
The branding divides at a diagonal line through the S in West Kirby, red above the E and brown beneath the T. [Numbers may be 22 23 will have to check]
.
CHESTER LOCAL
.
First noted by me in October 2001 when all vehicles noted were Mercedes ‘bread-vans’. Branding was carried on vinyls at the bottom of the windows. Did not note and cannot remember the exact lettering used. I think the blue and green shades are the same as for Wirral.

has had it's fleet numbers changed now in line with the new system.

Stevs Leyland Lynx reffered to in the News column is correct as being legaly lettered for Citybus.

A quick paint over job of white on the N/S Legal lettering section has ben applied followed by Citybus Legal Lettering.

Comments:John Cooper Comments on the Route Branding applied to Marshall Bodied Dennis Darts for First PMT Wirral.

So Far the Full List of Route Branding Colours for the Whole of the PMT Group of Companies operational on Wirral / E.Port / Chester is as follows :-

Route 1 Chester - Liverpool

"Orange"

Route 41/42 Mill Park - Woodchurch

"Maroon"

Route 117 Clatterbridge - Leasowe

"Pale Brown"

Route 53 Chester - Kingsway

"Dark Green"

Route 16 Chester - Saltney

Remains Non Colour Coded Currently but Branded as 41 Group was originaly done.

117 Solos have according to Mr McCarthy been subject to serious dammage to the engine going over the Humps at Stanton Road and Leasowe hence the Revised Route.

These uses are expected to be Replaced by Full Sized Single Deckers in the near
future on this particular route. It is noted that they are to be found reguarly
operational on route 186 of a Sunday.

No sign of 39 being Route Branded yet. No Deckers have been route branded either proably because they would look like a rainbow when youconsider the Orange Purple Green and Light Brown colours that would need to be placed n the body work.

Route 1 Bus seems to find its way to E.Port depot on a Weekday Afternoon during School Days and remains in the depot with School Bus on it's display though it never seems to be used on any route let alone a school.

A1A 258 All Over Advert for Toe & Heal looks like it needs a good body job it is in a awfull stae when you examine it closely missing the letter "E" in Reflexology on it's N/S Upper Panel and seems to be falling appart in places with the transfares showing signs of being Air Bubbled and the body work holed at it's rear Upper o/s Panel nt the best of conditions for a Y Reg Bus.

ny Comment's from Mr Ashworth as to why will be posted to Steve Dave when I get them.

I think that all Laird St SLF Plaxton Darts 7547etc are branded, originally this was for routes 18 and 42 which then became 418/419/447. Incidentally, some Merseytravel 'Real Time' bus shelters on the Wirral still show timings for Route 18 which was withdrawn nearly 18 months ago!!! Any comment Mr Dowd?? I think not! You'll also find that most of the Cadets 2437etc at Laird St have SMART branding which was going to be for the 403/13/23 group of routes. The P reg SLF Plax Darts at Huyton 7534etc may have also carried Smart branding as they were new to LS for the 18/42. Hope this is of help to you.

960 M960 XVT which was on service 41 in Eastham.

Indeed, the EL2000s are without doubt the worst bus body of any type (even worse than the Marshalls) that I have ever been, on any chassis at all, not because of the build quality, simply as the legroom is no existant compared to Pointers the same age, length and capacity!

At least ELC legroom improved by the time they built the Myllenniums for Arriva!

Comments:The Firstbus Marshall Darts at Birkenhead now seem to come in spearmint flavour as they have green route branding in the narrow panels above the windows. How much more silly can you make a bus look. First you put a Marshall body on it, then you paint it pink, now add a green stripe. Typical 'big three' rubbish. Come on Arriva, how about some brown route branding on an East Lancs Dart to indicate how sh*** they are!

Laird Street 7557 R557ABA was heading towards Huyton on the M62 today & if it was heading back to Birkehead via Runcorn it would be doing an awful lot of 'dead milage'. Then about 15 mins later I saw one of the East Lancs EL-2000 darts running near Burtonwood in Warrington. The EL-2000 could have been one of Runcorn's but it had adverts for 'Juice FM' on it so I assume it was one of Bootle's! I wonder what these 'dart's' were up to today! Cheers!!

Also does anyone know what routes 1064 & 1065 the Alexander Strider/Scania L-113's based at St Helens operate on as I've yet to see them operating! Cheers!!

Just noted a Dennis Dart Plaxton Bodied on route 2 to Chester in operation with CROSVILLE Chester.

I am assuming that it is ex Manchester due to the Fleet No. 6009 being dipslayed in LARGE Numericals on it's n/s front panel. Plate P309 LND fitted with the Cheshire Bus Smart Card Reader.

It has a Dot Matrix number disply but convential blind for destination. Very Unusual layout of destination for Chester. (SMALL LETTERING).

I'm asking this is I can't really get off to Wales for the next 6 - 7 weeks due to work commitments - but could make one trip there if most of these vehicles are due to be withdrawn over this period! However I was looking at the GM Buses North Group website and they mentioned a rumour that First Manchester had purchased South Lancs Travel on Tue 12/02/02. This would be a quirk of fate if it were true as the 'orginal' South Lancs company was purchased by North Western (a couple of weeks before Cowie became Arriva) in October 1997! Even though SLT isn't quite a Merseyside operator I thought you might want to know about these rumour's surrounding it & hope things are going okay for you at Uni! Cheers!!

From Runcorn Depot, East Lancs Darts 1217/1218 will move to Wythenshawe. Had to get off the bus to get it but didnt have enough money to get the next bus. Tried to ring home but mum and dad weren't home. Next thing his mate come running up and says that the bus driver had turned around to pick him up... a nice little story that goes to sjow that not every one in the world is bad... Comments:Steve, a possible reason why ex-ABC Travel vehicles haven't appeared on CMT routes is they may have been traded in for the new Wright Elcipse/Volvo B-7L's due at CMT soon. The 7 (or so) Optare Excel's and 2 Daf SB220/Optare Delta's and 1 Daf SB220/NC Paladin would be quite non-standard in a fleet dominated by Volvo B-10's and Leyland Lynx's and so it may be better for CMT to trade them in for 8-10 'new' Volvo's! Comments:Steve, The Alx 200 is nothing to some of the weird vehicles I've seen on the SMART routes. When Liverline operated it Leyland Nationals, Northern Counties bodied Scania N113DRB double deckers and rebodied Willowbrook Leyland Leopard GDM996X operated to a greater or lesser degree on the 224. In the Merseybus/MTL era Green Lane's Wright Endurance/Volvo B-10B's and Alexander R/Leyland Olympians sometimes crept onto the SMART routes (probably due to the unreliability of the usual Neoplans). Finally one of Arriva NW's Northern Counties Paladin/Scania L-113's from the 1041-1049 batch (transferred to Bootle from Manchester (aka Bee Line) and moved to Runcorn after the takeover of MTL) was on SMART 1 in Jan 2000. Add this to the leased Darts (of varying body types) and Plaxton Prestige/Daf SB220GS's and the SMART routes have a great deal of vehicle type variety in less than 10 years of operation! Cheers!!

Blimey, that is rare, an ALX 200 on Smart, all we need now is a Wright Crusader somwhow, and every SLF body manufacturer will have featured on Smart 1, as Arriva usually use Plaxton Dart, (Though I have seen the 22xx Plaxtons on there too!), we had UVG/Caetano Darts in February 1999, I did once see Marshall Capital bodied R411 XFL, MTL 7141 on it, when it was at Green Lane, and now we have had Alxander ALX 200's!

This idea is ridiculous and 10/10A should really use double deckers as standing is common on the B-10B/B-10BLE's in the mornings and from 1.30pm out of Liverpool. The B-6's simply dont have the capacity deal the numbers. Also some Scania L-113/Wright Axcess Ultralow's have been appearing on the 10/10A with most of them branded for the 320 Wigan - St Helens which used to run to Liverpool! Cheers!!

Who said things were dull at the moment but there is an equal case for passing Wrexham & Chester to Arriva Midlands North as Macclesfield & Winsford (part of Arriva North West until Apr 2000) are part of it and are as much in the North West as Wrexham and Chester! Also does anyone know what will be happening to the rest of Arriva Cymru (i.e. will it be sold off to 'smaller' players like what Arriva has done 'loss making' parts of Arriva Northumbria & Southern Counties recently!). Maybe single deckers could be a good idea for GTL's expansion as the Titan's on the 361 tend to be empty, could act as a magnet for the scally scum and reasonably modern Leyland Lynx's and Daf SB220/Optare Delta's are coming on to the second hand market! Comments:Steve I think GTL may be running more Volvo B-6/Plaxton Pointer's on the 361 as I spotted 7247/L247TKA on the route on Monday 19/11/01 @ Prescot Road/Queens Drive in Old Swan. Even though I like Double Deckers I think single deckers may be a better idea for GTL routes like the 361 as the majority of Titan's I've seen tend to be empty and could become a magnet for the scallies and Arriva seem to be retaining passengers on the 61! Maybe GTL could source some Leyland Lynx's or Daf SB220/Optare Delta's for its future expansion! Cheers!!

Now this man is a wizz at altering things in HTML code and I think that he has done a rather good job...

Comments:Hi

I hope you like this new guestbook, which works better than the Aldiar one, as not only can I personalise it with the sites corporate colours!, but also it is now easier for me to delete dodgy entries, and even ban I.P. addresses!

It also lets you leave spaces, so as you can actually write your comments aith paragraphs!!!!

Cheers

Steve Dave
