The boys conducted themselves in quite a gentlemanly manner and played brilliant team football the likes of which I haven't seen since old Albert Crossley and his university team back in 1912. | Comments: | I became a Cats supporter in 1963,when my cousin(who played 2 games for Richmond before injury)took me to a game at Kardinia Park,where i met "Polly" Farmer in the rooms after the game.He,along with Billy Goggin,Dennis Marshall and John Sharrock became my boyhood heroes.I don't remember anything of the Premiership win,so you can only imagine my feeling of utter joy as the boys cruised to a crushing win right in front of me.I was present for the 5 losses in between,including the best game of football ever played in the 1989 Grand Final,so i would like to thank the 22 players that stood up to take the Cup on Saturday as well as all others who tried their guts out before them.I have been blessed to follow such a great club almost all of my life.-GO CATS! |

The game is always there, but it is the little things you remember, times with loved ones still with you and ones who have departed, memories along the journey and times where you shake your head and dream of better days.
Today was a dream 44 years in the making. I had endured 4 GF losses before signing onto this board, and then suddenly came to the realisation that others had waited a hell of a lot longer. Yes it was Nathan's best game. he needs to learn how to hold on to the ball a bit better after his great leads, but he has great and growing commitment. All praise to the Cats' cheer squad who started a "Gee-long clap clap clap" just as the 'ohnonotagain' silence descended in the last quarter vs the eagles. It's the kind of positive noise the players needed. |

Plus it is ONLY ROUND 1, come back on and have a b@#$h about them when it's all settled and the teams have there rightful place in the 2007 comp. Geelong have one of the best backlines in the comp and had to play against VERY GOOD Western Bulldogs forwards maybe not the best resaults due to the club lost but are you even a cats fan??? A true fan wouldn't bag their team the way that u have. And the comment that Jimmy Bartel competed against Nathan Ablett for a mark is the most stupid comment of them all if this is how you see the club competting against each other for persessions then you see no hope for the club at the moment and thats just sad on your part. I'm sure after all your helpful comments on players and there performance they will look past Guy McKenna and go straight fot the phone book and look you up. This happened repeatedly in 06 yet no remedy. Is crumming not a part of the game plan? *("Kicking" to position is poor. Too much hangtime-easy to spoil). Can they get Paul Couch down there to teach them how to kick a ball long and flat to position? *No system going forward. *Defense chip the ball around long enough for the opposition to flood the forward line. *Poor decisions:Consistantly hand ball to players under the pump. Gardiner paid a mark & decides to play on when surrounded by dogs-caught & lost it. Enright turns over the ball due to undisciplined head contact when we had possession. The cranium is sacrosanct Joel! Bartel competes against Nablett for a mark near the goal square. In summary:-The Cats have poor skills, are too slow, play a slow lazy chip short handball to stationary players game. Need I go on!
